For most of this riverside level, the Kongs play as Ellie. Nibblas, in their debut, lurk in most bodies of water around the level, trying to attack the Animal Buddy. They cannot be defeated, so Ellie must avoid them throughout the whole level. However, the Nibblas are very fast, and they can attack the elephant as soon as she touches the water. Therefore, she has to use the many barrels scattered around the level and throw them into the water. The barrels float on the water's surface, allowing Ellie to cross the lakes and rivers with ease, while dodging the restless Nibblas. In this level, Ellie can also suck up water to shoot at her enemies. These enemies include green Buzzes, who appear all around the level to get in the hero's way. Other enemies in this rather early level include Krimps, Booty Birds, and Knik-Knaks (in their only occurrence of walking on the ground).

Noticeably, this level features several groups of bananas that form letters. These letters indicate the button that the player must push to perform certain actions with Ellie. For example, in the Super Nintendo Entertainment System version of the game, Ellie encounters a group of bananas that form the shape of the letter Y, meaning that the player must hit the Y button to make the elephant perform an action that she can use to progress through that part of the level.

At the beginning of the level, the Kongs will see a Buzz and a Booty Bird to move past, as well as a Blast Barrel. The barrel can be used to shoot them to an Animal Barrel. This barrel will turn them into Ellie, who will come up to some more enemies as she heads towards the first river. In the river, Ellie will find two floating barrels to use to dodge the Nibbla in the water, though the second barrel will be blocked off by a green Buzz. Sucking up water, she can shoot large drops of water at the enemy to defeat it, creating a pathway over the rest of the river. On the other side, she will find the letter O, as well as another body of water. The water will consist of a Nibbla, as well as a Steel Barrel floating in the water. Another barrel can be found in the water if she is to attack the Booty Bird nearby. If the young elephant decides to continue over the river, she will find another Blast Barrel. The barrel will blast her over another body of water. Nearing the area where she will land, she will find another lake. If she chooses to cross the lake, with the help of some barrels bobbing out of the water, she will find two red Buzzes in her path. The Animal Buddy will need to suck the nearby TNT Barrel towards her to be able to defeat them. Heading on, Ellie will find another small body of water. Once she crosses it with some more barrel platforms, she will need to climb up some stair-like platforms. Jumping down from the top area will take her to a pathway leading to the Star Barrel.
The Kongs begin the level near a long ledge that they must drop down to in order to find a DK Barrel and a Booty Bird that hovers over a red Buzz. If they defeat the Booty Bird, the enemy drops a TNT Barrel on the Buzz below it, who guards the letter K. The primates can find a small pool of water with a Nibbla in it ahead of here with an Auto Fire Barrel above it. The barrel can blast them on top of a tall area of land with an Animal Barrel on the edge of it. When the barrel is entered, the Kongs are turned into Ellie the Elephant, who must continue down a few ledges farther ahead of here to reach some Krimps and another small pool of water with a Nibbla in it. Ellie can cross the water without falling into it by using the two barrels that float on top of it. A green Buzz guards one of the barrels, and a group of bananas is behind it that form the letters L and R (or, in the Game Boy Advance version, the letter R alone). After Ellie crosses the water, she reaches a few bananas with the letter O among them. An area of water is ahead of here with a Nibbla and a steel keg in it. The keg can only help Ellie cross a portion of the water, but if she defeats a nearby Booty Bird, who flies over the other half of the water, it drops another steel keg in the water that can be used to cross. Immediately after passing this area of water, the pachyderm encounters another pool of water with a Booty Bird and a red Buzz guarding a Bonus Barrel above it. The water can be crossed with the use of a nearby Auto Fire Barrel.

Once Ellie heads down the path following the water, she reaches an additional area of water that contains a Nibbla and two floating barrels, which the elephant can use to cross. However, a green Buzz hovers over the barrels. Once Ellie reaches the other side of the water, she can find a group of bananas that form the shape of the letter Y (or the letter B in the Game Boy Advance version of the game). There are two red Buzzes ahead of her, and they both guard a TNT Barrel so that she cannot reach it. However, the elephant is able to grab the barrel by using her trunk to suck it towards her. By defeating the Buzzes with the barrel, she can progress farther into the level without being attacked by them. In the area following these wasp-like foes, she can find a Klik-Klak that flies under a Bear Coin and a barrel that sits next to another area of water. She must throw the barrel into the water to be able to use it as a platform to cross over the water, as a Nibbla can attack here at any moment if she is in the liquid. After Ellie makes her way over this water, she comes up some ledges with a Krimp on them. Once she reaches the highest part of the ground area, she can find a drop ahead of here that she must jump down to in order to reach a lower area with two red Buzzes guarding a steel keg in it. The steel keg can be used to defeat a nearby Koin, who stands under another red Buzz. The level's Star Barrel is located to the right of the Koin on a raised area of ground.

After Ellie passes the Star Barrel, she approaches a pool of water with a trail of bananas leading into it. A steel keg floats in this water, and a DK Barrel wobbles above it. On the other side of the liquid, she can find a steel keg and another water area with a Nibbla in it. She must throw the steel keg into the water in order to use it as a platform and avoid the Nibbla. A barrel floats on the surface of the right half of the water area, and some bananas and the letter N are above it. Once Ellie crosses this section of water, she comes up to a green Buzz, who hovers over a small gap of water. A wider area of water is ahead of it, and it contains a steel keg and a Nibbla. The one steel keg in it is placed in the left half of the water, but there is no barrel in the right half of it to help Ellie cross. However, a Booty Bird, who is orbited by a pair of green Buzzes, can be defeated to make a steel keg drop into the right side of the water. With the two steel kegs, the Animal Buddy can cross the water area and progress to another pool of water that contains nothing but a Bonus Barrel at a bottom of it.

About halfway into the level, Ellie will find a banana trail leading into a safe body of water, Nibbla-free. She should travel to the other side of the pool to find a few Steel Barrels. They should be used to make platforms over the water to the right, allowing the elephant to cross the area safely. After she crosses the lake and gets the letter N, she will have to continue and travel past a lone Buzz to find another pool of water. It must be crossed by using a few floating Steel Barrels, one of the barrels coming from a nearby Booty Bird. After Ellie crosses the enemy-free body of water after this, she will notice another pool nearby. Throwing a Steel Barrel into the water, she will be able to cross the pool and continue. The creature will soon find herself traveling along a long pathway, approaching a trail of bananas. She should follow it to land on a floating barrel in a large body of water. Around the barrel, the hero will find another barrel, which she should use to cross the lake, though while dodging a Buzz. She will then find herself heading down a plain pathway, until she encounter two more Buzzes in her way. She should suck up the barrel under them and defeat the green Buzz with the barrel to be able to progress. If Ellie does choose to travel farther, she will find the letter G, as well as another pool of water. With the barrels in this pool, she should hop over the parts of the water and head down the rest of the path, finding a No Animal Sign. It will turn her back into the Kongs, who will find a flagpole nearby. Raising its flag will end the level.

She should not defeat them, and simply just wait for them to take flight over the pool of water found before. Once they stop in mid-air, she should bounce on them and head above the underwater Bonus Barrel while airborne. The elephant can then land in the water and be forced down into the barrel. This special barrel can take her into a Bonus Level, where she needs to cross another area of water with some floating barrels while collecting stars. If she collects all 10 stars within 15 seconds, she can find a Bonus Coin at the other side of the water to grab within the remaining time. During the Bonus Level, a Nibbla swims through the water, and if it touches her, she fails the bonus.

Template:DKClevelbox Bobbing Barrel Brawl is the tenth level of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and Game Boy Advance game, Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!. It is also the fifth area of the Kremwood Forest.

The Kongs begin the level near a long ledge that they must drop down to in order to find a DK Barrel and a Booty Bird that hovers over a red Buzz. Secrets

K-O-N-G Letters

 • K: At the beginning of the level, the Kongs can find a Booty Bird flying above a red Buzz. If they defeat the bird, it drops a TNT Barrel on top of the red Buzz, which defeats the wasp-like foe. The letter K is revealed in its place once it is defeated.
 • O: Shortly after the heroes turn into Ellie, they can find a pool of water that they must cross to find the letter O.
 • N: The letter N hovers above the center of the second pool of water from the Star Barrel.
 • G: As Ellie approaches the final area of water before the No Animal Sign, she comes up to a Krimp with the letter G above it.

Bonus Levels

 • Shortly after passing the letter O, Ellie shoots over a body of water through an Auto Fire Barrel. If she turns around once she gets on land, she can find a Booty Bird above a red Buzz, who guards a Bonus Barrel. She should hit the Booty Bird with her water shooting ability to make it flee and drop a TNT Barrel on the Buzz hovering below it. With both foes defeated, the she can find a clear path to the Bonus Barrel, which she must enter to reach a Bonus Level. Here, she needs to throw some barrels into the water to create a pathway over a small lake. A Nibbla can attack her if she touches the water, and if it touches her, she is forced out of the bonus. On the other side of the lake, the hero can find a Bonus Coin. Ellie has a total of 25 seconds to complete this Bonus Level and grab the Bonus Coin.
 • Not too long after passing the letter N, Ellie enters a safe pool of water with a Bonus Barrel at the bottom of it. However, she is unable to swim underwater, so she has no way of getting to it at the time. To reach it, the hero must head slightly father to the right and out of the water to meet some Knik-Knaks walking on land. She should not defeat them, and simply just wait for them to take flight over the pool of water found before. If she collects all 10 stars within 15 seconds, she can find a Bonus Coin at the other side of the water to grab within the remaining time. During the Bonus Level, a Nibbla swims through the water, and if it touches her, she fails the bonus.

DK Coin

 • Ellie comes up to a steel keg and a Koin in possession of a DK Coin immediately before she reaches the level's Star Barrel. She must defeat him to earn the coin, however, none of her attacks can actually defeat him. So, she must use the nearby steel kegs to attack. If she stands on the foe with the barrel, the Koin puts its attention on her. At that time, the elephant must throw the barrel at the nearest wall. The barrel should bounce back, hit the enemy, and defeat him. After the foe drops the DK Coin, Ellie can claim it to add to the Kongs' collection.

Warp Barrel

 • When the heroes reach the first Booty Bird in the level, who is located before Ellie's Animal Barrel, they should use their Team-up move to throw one another into the air to the right of the enemy. They can find a hidden Warp Barrel near this foe, and the barrel can send them to to the End of Level Flag at the end of the level.
