Crocodile Cauldron is the volcanic mountain range of Crocodile Isle and the second world of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. There are several rivers of lava, large pitfalls, and a prominent stratovolcano at the top. The world appears to be encased in a cave carved in the shape of a giant Kremling skull, which has glowing, red eyes, and steam coming out from the nostrils. Aside from volcanic areas, Crocodile Cauldron features a few mine shafts, from which the Kremling Krew would excavate gems and minerals.[1] The lava pools are also the Kremlings' source of heat and power in Crocodile Isle.[2] There is also a large, broken galleon partly submerged in the lava. Water also seems to flow through Crocodile Cauldron, or there is at least a large deposit of it underground, as the ship remains are flooded with it. Three levels take place at a volcanic area (one of which is the boss battle), two levels take place in mine shafts, and one level takes place in the broken galleon.
In Donkey Kong Land 2, Crocodile Cauldron does not appear as a standalone world, although it was combined with Krem Quay to form the world Krem Cauldron instead.
Levels[edit]
Hot-Head Hop
The first level of Crocodile Cauldron, Hot-Head Hop takes place at a volcanic area, and the Kongs must jump from Krockheads to travel across rivers of lava. About midway through is an animal crate of Squitter.Kannon's Klaim
The second level, Kannon's Klaim takes place in a mine shaft. Kannons are the main type of enemies to avoid.Lava Lagoon
The third level, Lava Lagoon takes place in the cargo hold of a crashed ship, featuring boiling water. There are Clappers along the way, who can temporarily the cool the water so that the Kongs can swim in it.Red-Hot Ride
The fourth level, Red-Hot Ride takes place in a volcanic area, like Hot-Head Hop, although a lot more of the path is a lake of lava, which can only be crossed by riding on gradually descending Hot Air Balloons along the way.Squawks's Shaft
The fifth level, Squawks's Shaft takes place inside a mine shaft, like Kannon's Klaim, although Squawks appears in the second half to help the Kongs get to the end.Boss level: Kleever's Kiln
