After crossing a plains section, the player will get access to the second part of the level through a Warp Pipe. The second half features many Buzzy Beetles, as well as some [[Abyss|bottomless pits]] which have to be jumped over using a [[Paratroopa]] as stepping stone sometimes. Also, Lakitu appears in this level, throwing Spiny Eggs at Mario. The player has to dodge the Spiny eggs while navigating through the water. If the player gave the [[Frog Suit]] power to Mario before entering the level, he can enter a pipe that ejects water and would otherwise wash him away. The pipe leads to a bonus area. This level features many Bill Blasters and also introduces a new projectile type, the Missile Bill. Unlike regular Bullet Bills, the red colored Missile Bills will turn around if they are dodged and fly towards Mario once again. A block with a [[Magic Vine]] can be found in this level, which is accessible by bouncing off of a Missile Bill. *In ''[[Mario Party]]'', the song "Let's Go Lightly" (played on the minigames [[Platform Peril]] and [[Bobsled Run]]) is a cover version of Giant Land's music, but with additional rhythm, although part of the original rhythm is slightly different.
The [[Donut Lift]]s here might be very dangerous. Mario must jump up and down on them to keep from falling. A secret is here after the lava stretch. In the narrow corridor, a block has a P-Switch inside. The Switch will expose some Silver Coins. In the middle of them, Up on the D-Pad should be pressed to enter a secret room. The platforms here are all different. The ones with arrows on them will automatically go a certain way, but the one with the exclamation point, whenever jumped on, will change direction. Skillful use of these and the many pipes will lead Mario to a pipe to a secret room, where, starting at the exit pipe, invisible blocks form a staircase to a block with a 1-Up. Afterward, a big ? Block has three 1-Ups, and Raccoon or Tanooki Mario can fly up to a little room above with quite a few coins. The exit pipe leads right to where Mario left off, and afterward is the fight with Boom Boom.

The airship of Iggy Koopa is largely fire-based. Instead of Bill Blasters and other canons, it is mainly composed of [[Rocket Engine]]s which shoot flames towards the Mario bros. The player has to navigate them safely through the course without getting burned, by timely passing the traps in the instant they become inactive. A ? Block with a [[Fire Flower]] awaits at the end, as well as a gray pipe that leads to the boss battle.

In battle, Iggy Koopa utilizes a similar strategy as [[Larry Koopa]] and [[Morton Koopa Jr.]] by blasting energy rings from his [[Magic Wand]]. He is however a lot more jumpy and will bounce around more than his brothers. After his defeat, he drops the Magical Rod and the King of Giant Land is turned back to his previous form.

Power-ups, Cheep-Cheeps, Spinies, Buzzy Beetles, Venus Fire Traps, and Bullet Bills are exceptions to this and thus remain in their original size. The Koopaling in charge of Giant Land is Iggy Koopa. The real king of Giant Land is a shirtless man with a turban on his head. During the events of the game, he gets turned into a dinosaur by the Koopalings; both remakes see him get turned into Donkey Kong Jr. instead. In the original version, the overworld levels have a green sky.

The map in Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 shows that World 4 is to the east of World 3 and to the west of World 5.

A Sledge Brother battle in Big Island. World 4-Sledge Bro Three Sledge Brothers roam the map. Encountering one will trigger a battle taking place on a flat stretch of land with two large Cloud Blocks high above it. The reward for defeating one is either a Starman, Lakitu's cloud, or P-Wing depending on which one is fought.

The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3[edit]

Giant Land appeared in two episodes of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, and was mentioned in two others. It was shown to be similar to the game in appearance, with oversized blocks and pipes. However, the citizens of Giant Land were shown to be actual giants. Giant Land is ruled by Prince Hugo the Huge, who was stated to be the "new ruler" by Big Mouth Koopa.

"Sneaky Lying Cheating Giant Ninja Koopas": This is the only episode in which this world is shown as the title card. Bowser wants to take over Giant Land, so he transforms Bully, Big Mouth, Cheatsy, and Kooky into Sneaky Lying Cheating Giant Ninja Koopas, enabling to storm through Giant Land and capture Prince Hugo the Huge. Mario and his friends show up at Prince Hugo's castle to offer their help, but the Royal Parrot dismisses them due to their small size. Mario and Luigi explore Giant Land to find a Super Leaf, evading an Angry Sun in the process. As Raccoon Mario and Raccoon Luigi, the brothers head back to the castle, but are unable to stop the Koopalings. They both lose their Raccoon Power and Luigi gets captured, along with Princess Toadstool, Toad and Prince Hugo. Mario manages to avoid capture by flying away on the Royal Parrot, whose cage was stolen by the Koopalings to house Princess Toadstool, Toad and Luigi during their capture. He later rescues Prince Hugo and his friends from Kastle Koopa.

"Princess Toadstool for President": Although Giant Land does not appear, Bowser and Cheatsy unleash a pack of hungry Giant Land Paragoombas upon a crop in the Mushroom Kingdom, but Mario and Luigi show up and defeat them.

"Dadzilla": Once Madzilla is freed from Big Mouth and Kootie Pie, after Princess Toadstool says that they will take him to enjoy a new life in the Mushroom Kingdom, Toad tells him that he would fit right in Giant Land.

"Do the Koopa": When Bowser is using the Doom Dancer Music Box to make everyone in the Mushroom Kingdom dance endlessly, it appears that several citizens of Giant Land can be seen dancing around at one point.
