'''Gleamin' Breams''' are bulky yellow fishes from the [[SNES]] game ''[[Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble]]''. These obese breams appear only in one level, [[Floodlit Fish]]. Unlike their red lookalikes, called [[Bounty Bass]]es, they do not carry any item, and they cannot be defeated. However, Gleamin' Breams have a unique ability: they are bioluminescent, which means they are able to produce and emit light. If the player manages to attack one, using [[Enguarde the Swordfish]]'s stab, the Gleamin' Bream will make a shocked face and will illuminate the area. This light progressively fades, though.
Gleamin' Breams appear to be the inspiration for a species of bioluminescent fish in the ''[[Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze]]'' level, [[Amiss Abyss]]. They are small and encountered in schools. Scattering a school of such fish with a [[Corkscrew (Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze)|corkscrew]] move makes them produce light for a short time and illuminate the dark area of the stage.


Although they can hurt Enguarde and the [[Kong]]s, Gleamin' Breams are not real enemies. Indeed, they unwillingly help [[Dixie Kong]] and [[Kiddy Kong]] by lighting the dark waters of the [[Razor Ridge]] lakes. Their bioluminescence proves very useful in "Floodlit Fish", though in the [[Gameboy Advance]] remake of the game, it is possible to get through the level without hitting a Gleamin' Bream even once, due to the increased brightness in the port.

Gleamin' Breams, also spelled Gleaming Breams,[1] are enemies in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!. These bulky yellow fish are encountered in Floodlit Fish only. Gleamin' Breams are uniquely bioluminescent, so they can produce and emit light, and Enguarde can stab a Gleamin' Bream to startle it and have Gleamin' Bream illuminates the area temporarily. Gleamin' Breams are relatives of Bounty Basses, but do not release any items, unlike them. A photograph of a Gleamin' Bream appears in Dixie Kong's Photo Album, under the Aquatic Attackers class, in the original version only.
