The title of this article is official, but it comes from development data such as an internal filename. If an acceptable public source is found, then the article should be moved to its appropriate title.
Barbells are objects that first appear in Donkey Kong for the Game Boy, then subsequently appear in two games in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series.
History[edit]
Donkey Kong (Game Boy)[edit]
Barbells appear in Stage 1-4, Stage 9-1, and Stage 9-9 of Donkey Kong for the Game Boy. In Stage 1-4 and Stage 9-1, barbells drop from above alongside tires and washtubs when Donkey Kong jumps and slams the ground. Barbells also appear in Stage 9-9 during the final battle against Donkey Kong, where they drop from above if Donkey Kong slams the ground with his fists. If Mario is hit by a barbell, he loses a life. However, like other objects, Mario can perform a Handstand to harmlessly deflect barbells upon contact.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong series[edit]
Mario vs. Donkey Kong[edit]
Barbells reappear in Mario vs. Donkey Kong, in Donkey Kong Plus and Level 1-DK+. They fall down alongside wheels, barrels, and bricks once Donkey Kong slams one of his mech's arms on the ground. As previously, Mario can perform a Handstand to harmlessly deflect the barbells and other falling objects.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis[edit]
Barbells appear in Boss Game 1 in Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis, dropping along with barrels when Donkey Kong slams the ground. If a Mini Mario comes into contact with a barbell, the Mini Mario breaks and the barbell disappears.
