This isn't important, but where in the real-world is a trapeze considered to be a seated board? I am not a circus savant, but I am not familiar with any source anywhere that asserts that a trapeze is anything except a bar suspended by rope on both ends. A legitimate trapeze cannot be anything other than that. Unless some authority I don't know about asserts this elsewhere, based on its context within the game, I do not think it is appropriate or accurate to suggest "trapeze" is an acceptable translation for the board in Super Mario Sunshine. - Nintendo101 (talk) 16:51, February 22, 2024 (EST)

:An acrobat swing is a thing that "trapeze" can refer to, while "swing" can also be used for the grab-bars. Either way, the names in Japanese there are literally shared, so not mentioning both on both pages feels mildly disingenuous in my opinion. I always saw the SMS and SMG objects as variations of the same thing, myself. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:46, February 22, 2024 (EST)

::Ah, I see. I think a trapeze is a type of swing, but it is not accurate to say all swings are trapezes, or that the terms can be used interchangeably. A trapeze is a bar suspended by ropes at both ends. If the subject is anything but that, it is not a trapeze.
|latest_portrayal=Scott Burns (2002-2008)
::If anything, I think it would be more accurate to change Japanese name on the Trapeze page to just say "swing", especially since a trapeze is more narrowly referred to as 空中ブランコ (Kūchū Buranko, "air swing") in Japanese, and the Japanese text only calls them ブランコ (Buranko). But I still don't think it is accurate to say the name of the Sunshine board can be translated to "trapeze". It just isn't one, and I don't think it was intended for it to be seen as one. - Nintendo101 (talk) 18:08, February 22, 2024 (EST)

Toadsworth is an elderly Toad and Princess Peach's longtime steward, introduced in Super Mario Sunshine. He is 60 years old, according to an e-mail in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. He is constantly worrying about the princess and takes care of the Toads. He has an English accent and often utters old-fashioned English phrases like "Tally-ho!" and "Pip pip!", most of which made their debut in Mario Party 7. Before Toadsworth's introduction in Super Mario Sunshine, the Chancellor played a role very similar to his and was even similar in appearance.

Super Mario series
Super Mario Sunshine
Toadsworth's first appearance is in Super Mario Sunshine where he accompanies Mario, Princess Peach, and an entourage of Toads to Isle Delfino for a vacation. While traveling there, he can be seen day dreaming about the relaxation that he can get at the island as well as about the roller coaster at Pinna Park that he is tempted to ride on, resulting in his ignoring Peach when she attempts to warn him of seeing a doppelganger of Mario in the background of the tour video for the island. However, upon arriving on the island's airstrip, he and the other vacationers find the small island covered with graffiti thanks to the mysterious fiend known as Shadow Mario (who eventually frames Mario of ruining the island).

After cleaning Delfino Airstrip, Mario and the group are taken to a courthouse on the mainland, where Mario is put on trial for vandalizing Isle Delfino. The prosecutor explains that someone who looks like Mario covered the island with graffiti, and that he is to blame. Peach and Toadsworth attempt to object, but are overruled, and Mario is found guilty. He is then forced to clean the island, as well as find all the Shine Sprites.
About Aliens (yes, really)
As Mario attempts to do so to clear his name, Toadsworth at first can be seen simply accompanying the Princess around the island. After she is kidnapped by Shadow Mario he can be found fretting and worrying in various locations. Often, he can be seen reminding Mario to go rescue the princess. After she is rescued, he and the other heroes can be seen finally enjoying the facilities at Isle Delfino as originally planned in the ending credits. Toadsworth presumably returns with the rest of the vacationers to the Mushroom Kingdom later on.
We saw that there was a discussion to potentially delete Alien (Club Nintendo) and we had some time to kill, so we went ahead and reworked the entire article. Let us know how it looks--hopefully, a lot better, and some have mentioned it might not be worth deleting anymore (albeit, the older revision is probably fit for preservation on BJAODN... ;P)

Toadsworth replaces Toad as the host of Toad Houses in New Super Mario Bros. He gives out items to Mario or Luigi by conjuring up a Roulette Block with his wand. Some of the Toad Houses also give out extra lives to the Mario Bros. by having them play a card match up game. However, most of these houses require Mario (or Luigi) to pay 5 Star Coins in order to enter.

In the opening cutscene, multiple models of Toadsworth are used to create the illusion of Toads running around in a panic once the thundercloud strikes Peach's Castle. Nevertheless, it has been stated in games and game booklets that Toadsworth is Peach's attaché and thus is subordinate to her. Additionally, in Mario Superstar Baseball, when naming all of the players on Peach's team, Lakitu says "And... your grandpa?! Oh, pardon me! Venerable Toadsworth!" While not made entirely clear, Lakitu may have at first been mistaken, but then corrected himself. Peach also addresses him as "Toadsworth" (not as "father" or "grandfather") in Super Mario Sunshine. Regardless of his position, he cares deeply for the Princess, very much in a fatherly manner, and has taken care of her since she was a baby, similar to Kamek and Bowser's relationship. They also have good chemistry with each other in the Mario Baseball series.

Mario Party: The Top 100
Hey. Long time. So I just had another one of my random thoughts. Do you think the Three Shadows are based on the witches from the 1993 Disney film Hocus Pocus? It follows the trend in the console RPG games to have an evil group based on characters from popular media (the Axem Rangers being a reference to the Power Rangers, and the Koopa Bros. being a reference to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and if you stretch it enough, the Underchomp technically continue the trend as a reference to Cerberus. The way the Shadows interact with each other kinda sorta resembles the interactions between the Sanderson sisters in Hocus Pocus (also, the fact that they're all siblings with powers). All three are said to have gotten their powers from the devil, while the Shadows appear to come from the underworld. Is it possible? Unless I'm mistaken, you're the one who's made considerable improvements to Diddy Kong Racing's page as of late. I'm sure you'll be happy to hear that both the big and small sprites for the silver "Disco Balloons" are now on the page! Anyway, I noticed your recent changes to the Characters section. Funnily enough, it was only yesterday that I considered the possibility of Wizpig having a character listing in addition to his boss listing, so it was a surprise to see it done so soon afterwards! I hope you don't mind, but I changed the Wizpig image for this character listing, since it was already in use in the boss listing, where it matches the 'Wizpig on his rocket' image. My replacement is an oddly pink render, but I can confirm its use in official material alongside the others. User:Stone Pokey (talk) 10:30, July 11, 2024 (GMT)

Something I noticed recently I thought you would be interested. In the original TTYD, this item is called "Goldbob Guide" and the description says it's a manual for the cannon. However, it's name in other languages including Japanese is "Usage Permit", which even carries over to the English localisation of the remake calling it a "written permission" instead of a manual in the description. Would you say this was a part of the original game's inconsistant localisation? 21:25, July 28, 2024 (EDT)

History

So uh... I've been having my crazy ideas again. Not gonna add these to any trivia sections, but I wanted to know your thoughts. Do you know why the colors red and yellow would be used for the metal blocks in Paper Mario and TTYD? It makes me think of Iron Man, but I'm unsure if these colors are simply associated with metal or if it was simply chosen to match the Ultra Hammer, which would still beg the question of why red and yellow represent the most powerful hammer. While on the topic of Marvel coincidences... "hyper" enemies (Hyper Goomba, Hyper Cleft, etc.), who can raise their attack power to insane levels, are colored green and purple... just like the Hulk, who is known to be able to raise his power to insane levels. If not a Hulk reference, why are purple and green the colors chosen for these enemies? I can sort of recall a connection between the combination of green and purple and radioactivity (which resulted in the Hulk; maybe "hyper" enemies were exposed to radiation?) or poisonous plants. What do you think? Blue Ninjakoopa (talk) 18:32, August 4, 2024 (EDT)

Some of the Toad Houses also give out extra lives to the Mario Bros. by having them play a card match up game. However, most of these houses require Mario (or Luigi) to pay 5 Star Coins in order to enter.

Later he comes to the Beanbean Kingdom himself (along with Princess Peach). He also provides the Mario Bros. with a spare dress for the Princess just before they set off to Joke's End to rescue the Princess from Bowletta's clutches, anticipating the possibility that she might have damaged it in an attempt to escape. After a while, he spends his time with Peach in the Mushroom Embassy. He is shown near the end of the game to be good friends with Lady Lima.
Hey, Doc. I'm sure you noticed, tbut I have been drafting a "crossover article" concept using The Legend of Zelda as a base, highlighting where it intersects with Super Mario. Are you sure merging Break the Targets and Board the Platforms is a good idea? These minigames contain Mario stages, something that should be covered separately. Also, a recent proposal removed Trophy Tussle for only having one fight on a Goomba throphy. Even though it's small, it is a Mario stage after all. Toadsworth also appears in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, playing a larger role in this game than in its predecessor. He is with Mario and Luigi when Princess Peach takes an experimental trip back in time, and is paranoid that something terrible might happen. He eventually faints from shroomshock due to his excess worrying for the princess, creating a comedic scene of Mario getting a refreshroom for the elderly Toad to feel better. His fears later become justified, as when the time machine returns, a Junior Shrooboid is in it. He is soon attacked by the Shrooboid though Mario and Luigi eventually defeat it. He is still confused when he wakes up and accidentally pushes Mario and Luigi into a time hole. He later teams up with his younger self to teach the Bros. new moves (such as the Toadsworth Twist, Bros. Ball, etc.) and keep Baby Peach entertained while she stays in the future.
Toadsworth is indirectly responsible for sending Mario and Luigi into the past from the start, as he had accidentally knocked Luigi into a time hole, causing Mario to go in after him. Near the end of the game, a Shroob character based on Toadsworth called Shroobsworth appears as a common enemy.

Toadsworth returns in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and its Nintendo 3DS remake. He, along with many other Mushroom Kingdom residents, eventually get swallowed up by Bowser after Fawful tricks Bowser into eating the Vacuum Shroom. He is then found in Pump Works of Bowser's body where he must be rescued by the Mario Bros. Compared to the last game, his role is very small, appearing in various areas, mainly Toad Square. At first, he can often be seen sobbing for the Princess's well being after she is kidnapped by Fawful. After getting over the Princess's well being, and being assured that Mario and Luigi would save her, Toadsworth tries to stop moping and stay strong, and teaches the Mario Bros. about beans. He is shown to be good friends with Toadbert as well. Toadbert and Toadsworth are seen having some tea together while waiting for Bowser's back to heal.

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team
Hi, Doc. You raised two new proposals today, which is fine, but I wanted to take this opportunity to remind you that you have 10 passed proposals that are waiting to be implemented (including every unimplemented talk page proposal), with some having passed multiple years ago. Other users have noticed and raised this issue with staff.

Toadsworth appears in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, where he, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and the Toads are invited to Pi'illo Island for sightseeing. His role is even smaller than in the previous games and is mainly used for comic relief (him worrying about Peach and getting annoyed when Dr. Snoozemore falls asleep).

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
I would appreciate it if you started working on implementing your past proposals. Proposal rules do specify that passed proposals should be enacted "in a timely manner" and while no time limit is specified, surely two years without any movement is well beyond that. I understand some of your past proposals impact a decent amount of articles, or entail creating a decent amount of articles, and they would be time-consuming to implement by yourself, but some of them are quite small (like the Crocodile Isle one) and manageable by yourself. You also have the tools necessary to ask for help on the big ones if you want it, via talk pages like this one and Mario Boards. - Nintendo101 (talk) 23:41, September 25, 2024 (EDT)

:Hi, generally speaking I prefer to give myself a sort of buffer of busywork, so that's why I do it in that way (if I don't have one, I tend to get a little.... erratic. Moreso than normal, I mean). Anyways, I am busy with other things at the moment (both in real life and the fact that I've been working on this MKT characters table for consecutive weeks since the "sports" thing is my most current project, as it has been for the past 15 months or so), so that's part of why it takes so long. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:57, September 25, 2024 (EDT)
Toadsworth accompanies Princess Peach on her trip to Rogueport during Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. He keeps Princess Peach very close to him, but ends up losing her. When Mario comes to Rogueport he meets a frantic Toadsworth who is incredibly worried about the missing Princess. Mario assures Toadsworth that he is going to save her, and Toadsworth spends the remainder of the game in Rogueport's Inn. In the ending he, the Mario Bros., and the Princess leave Rogueport on a boat as they head back to the Mushroom Kingdom.
::I could understand that you like having projects on the back burner to go to, but I do not think you need 10 of them, and while you may have things going on in real life, you are active here enough for me to know you have not been so busy over the last three years (with your oldest proposal being September 12, 2021) that you could not work on implementing these. If you have the time to work on MKT character and sports tables, you have the time to merge the Crocodile Isle articles or split Bowser's Flame from Fire Breath. - Nintendo101 (talk) 00:21, September 26, 2024 (EDT)
:::Well those ones -just- passed, I'll get to them soon. Tomorrow I have a big event. The proposal was canceled because nobody agreed to generational separation. I want to find a proper way to separate them. Most of the proposals I made have failed. What method of split do you think would be appropriate? Mario is still a long sized even when separated by each decade. Other characters can be merged from the first decade with the next decade without any size issues. Later, when Mario turns 50, some galleries may be separate the first a quarter-century. Toadsworth is the umpire in Mario Power Tennis and its New Play Control! version, where he sits on a high chair and watches characters play. He reminds "not to respond a serve before it bounced once", whenever it is done. During the opening cinematic, Toadsworth is seen at the upper barracks of the Peach Dome with Peach standing by his side during the night of the final match. After Toadsworth announces the remaining contenders, Mario and Luigi against Yoshi and Donkey Kong, Wario and Waluigi in league with Bowser arrive after Yoshi and Donkey Kong fail to show up, which catches Toadsworth off guard. Further turmoil ensues as explosives fly all over the venue, and Toadsworth catches a glimpse of a horde of explosives stowing aboard the underside of Bowser's balloon.

The Mario Baseball series is Toadsworth's first playable appearance. Toadsworth is a playable character in both Mario Superstar Baseball and its sequel, Mario Super Sluggers. He is on Princess Peach's team, the "Peach Monarchs". Throughout the two games, he uses a larger version of his cane as his bat, unlike the other playable Toad characters who use regular baseball bats. He is a very skillful fielder in both games and has a great pitch, but he doesn't hit for power, doesn't run fast, and has low stamina. Despite his good pitching stats, Toadsworth's pitches tend to move slower than what most Toads can pull off.

During the opening cinematic of Mario Super Sluggers, Toadsworth is seen standing by Peach's side, greeting those who are about to arrive at the Baseball Kingdom on a yacht. In Challenge Mode, Toadsworth frequently worried about Peach's kidnapping and he constantly reminds the player to rescue her. He is first seen near a fountain that is later secured by the statue of Daisy. He watches over the statue, but eventually joins the team when Peach has been rescued. Toadsworth has good chemistry with Peach, Toad, Toadette, Baby Peach, and Pianta, while he has bad chemistry with Goomba, Paragoomba, and Bowser.

As a token of his appreciation for all that Mario and his friends have done for the Kingdom, Toadsworth organizes an extravagant cruise in traditional Mario Party fashion in Mario Party 7. He is also the host of the boards. However, the cruise is deterred by Bowser, who is furious about his exclusion from the guest list. Toadsworth also runs the Duty Free Shop in this game, where players can buy merchandise, view figures they purchased, listen to sounds, and view records. In the Neon Heights board, a cardboard cut-out of himself appears in the shooting game where if shot, the minigame ends and the player earns no coins.

In Mario Party: The Top 100, Toadsworth makes a cameo appearance in the Collection mode.

Super Princess Peach
Hello! I appreciate your inquiry, and am aware that others do prefer "accurate" sprite rips complete with empty dimensions. However, consider the following: this is not enforced by the wiki and the way a sprite looks is entirely up to the digression of the individual uploader. I say as long as it doesn't conflict with the way any existing templates or articles look, it doesn't need to be 100% uniform in dimension. It looks better this way, to me personally. You are also tarnishing the "accuracy" of these sprites by uploading it to a wiki to begin with because you have to file other file guidelines such as naming.--
Toadsworth reappears in Super Princess Peach, where he is seen accompanying Princess Peach on her stroll while the Koopa Troop attacks Peach's Castle and captures the Mario Bros. As Peach sets off to rescue them, Toadsworth initially objects but then gives her the umbrella Perry, whom he had bought from a shop before the events of the game, to accompany her. He is also a guitarist for the Peach Hit Five.

Super Smash Bros. series
:I don't really wish to speak on anything else, but I will say this: my uploads were supposed to have comments, but did not due to a bug with batch upload not supporting that for new files. Anyway, I understand what you are saying, but still think it is unnecessary, as it can easily be accommodated on both the gallery and table front without any unnecessary tampering of files, period. I don't believe it is needed at all for those Mii costumes. I checked myself, they don't look wrong at all on the table on the article.--
In the Super Smash Bros. series, there are several items of Toadsworth. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, there is a trophy of him, as well as two stickers of him, both of which can applied to any fighter in The Subspace Emissary; one of the stickers, depicting Toadsworth's artwork from Super Mario Sunshine, boosts the attack power of its user by 10 points, while the other, depicting Toadsworth from Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, increases the user's launch power by 5 points. In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, there is another trophy of Toadsworth, unlockable by defeating at least eight fighters in Cruel Smash. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Toadsworth appears as a Novice-class support spirit which occupies one support slot, and players equipped with the spirit will start battles with a Ramblin' Evil Mushroom. The puppet fighter of the Toadsworth spirit is Mario on the Princess Peach's Castle stage.

Fortune Street
I agree with you, sprites should be preserved so as not to lose quality when placing them in the gallery or table. And this is not just a matter of aesthetics, the actual use of the command [widths="120" heights="120"] depends on standardization.
While Toadsworth himself does not appear in Fortune Street, Toad provides reference to him throughout the game through his quotations. It is implied that Toadsworth may have some authority over Toad as he appears to be frightened of what Toadsworth would think of his choices at times throughout the game. One of Princess Peach's quotes mentions him as well, where she states that she may need to turn to Toadsworth for financial advice.

General information
"Bowser's" Flame
Physical appearance
Toadsworth is portrayed as an elderly Toad with a tan complexion and a beige cap with brown spots. He has a puffy, white mustache, although if the player looks in a locker in Mario Golf: Advance Tour, they find a fake mustache labeled "Toadsworth", jokingly implying that his facial hair is Fake moustache. Like other Toads, Toadsworth is short and stout. Despite his age, he is quite energetic. He also speaks with a southern English accent.

He wears a light purple vest with gold buttons that have Toad emblems on them. Layered on top of the vest is a purple, sleeveless jacket that hangs down like a tuxedo with a gold trim. He wears white bottoms underneath and brown, padded shoes like those of all other Toads'. He also wears small, black round glasses and a red bow-tie. He walks around using a stick-like cane that has a brown mushroom cap on top with beige spots on it.
I wanted to pick your brain on something. Do you think the fire launched by King Totomesu, Piranha Plant (statue), and similar subjects are the "same" as Bowser's Flame, or is it really dependent on Bowser or a member of his species spitting the fireball for it to count as Bowser's Flame? - Nintendo101 (talk) 23:16, November 4, 2024 (EST)
:I've been thinking about that in regards to subjects like Autobomb, since I noticed its NES sprite resembles Bowser's flame (more than its SNES one, which iirc just uses the Birdo/Tryclyde/Fryguy fire). I've been considering, perhaps, we should make a separate article for stationary "flame" obstacles (like the falling ones in SMW and NSMBU, the torches in SM64, and other assorted things) and having "fire (projectile)" encompass those other ones (including Bowser's) - especially the Piranha Statue, since it's the named enemy in that case, simply named "fire" it may be. I also think that much of what is currently on Fireball (obstacle) should be merged between the standard fireball (the swirling/spherical kind that generally bounces around, like Fire Mario shoots), the forward projectile, and the stationary/falling obstacle. But that's just spitballing at this point, since there's so many other types of fireball obstacles that don't fit cleanly, like Reznor's. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:23, November 5, 2024 (EST)

In his younger form, he has a brown mustache, small, curious-looking eyebrows, and the same mushroom cap. His attire is more similar to that of other Toads, being a red vest with a golden trim baring his chest, along with his red bow-tie.

Toadsworth is a kind character who tries his best to help others, particularly Princess Peach, whom he cares for very deeply, having had a hand in raising her since she was a baby. Toadsworth constantly worries about Peach when she has been kidnapped by Bowser, and while Toadsworth is quick to panic and flee with the other Toads when danger arises, he sometimes tries to stay and protect the princess or offer advice to the Mario Bros. In Super Princess Peach, Toadsworth was originally hesitant to let Peach go to save Mario, out of fear for her safety. Toadsworth is known for addressing many other characters with the "Master" honorific due to his polite nature. Although kind overall, he does have his limits, as after the Shroob threat was over, he privately admits he's glad that his younger counterpart will be off his back, although denies claiming that when Toadsworth the Younger expresses suspicion of his true feelings toward him.

In addition, he is shown to be able to drive in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, but he has yet to be seen participating in a kart race. He is also skilled at playing mahjong, as seen in Yakuman DS, where he is the highest ranked opponent.

Relationship to Peach
There is much confusion surrounding Peach and Toadsworth's relationship. It is said on the official site for Super Mario Sunshine that he is Peach's father, which would make him Mushroom King.ref needed The page for Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time also says this.

Master Mario! Master Luigi! You must save Princess Peach!
History

New Super Mario Bros.

Help with a project (continued from archive 4)[edit]

What I meant was: could you help document what we don't have on Super Mario RPG's prerelease page that was found in that store of information? If you can, that would be great, but no pressure. Thanks! -- Artwork of Rosalina used for her amiibo. Also seen in Mario Party: The Top 100, Mario Kart Tour and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. Super Mario chart images 2[edit]

Hi, again, Doc. The exchange we had the other day was helpful. I had subsequently updated the chart image sizes on the Super Mario Galaxy page, and I was hoping to get your opinion. How does it look? I did not go as big as the current images on the Sunshine article, but they are bigger than they use to be. - Nintendo101 (talk) 10:04, November 27, 2023 (EST)

They do seem a little small, but not in dire need of enlargement. I'd personally go a little bigger, but I'll check again later when I'm not only just getting up and still have my eyes adjusted to dark. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 11:06, November 27, 2023 (EST)

About the Luigi's Mansion series bat[edit]

Hey, sorry for bothering you, I saw you have 'Merge Bat (Mario Kart 64) and Bat (Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon) into a generic "Bat (species)" article' in your "current goals", and I just wanted to say that I don't think that's a good idea. The LM2 and LM3 pests do look pretty generic, and they're referred to accordingly by English sources, but, you see those [citation needed] names in the NioL sections? Turns out the ones for the crow (which I intend to split eventually) and spider are used in game, so I believe the others are probably correct as well, possibly from some Japanese guide. I guess what I'm saying is, there's reason to believe they're supposed to be unique, albeit generic looking, recurring enemies. Blinker (talk) 16:48, November 27, 2023 (EST)

I'll just wait and see, then. Generic bats have appeared elsewhere, like in VB Wario Land and DK64 (as a recurring foreground species, not the enemy). Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:52, November 27, 2023 (EST)

Re:Icons[edit]

Oh, no: the icon themselves it's not cropped, the sprite sheet is cropped to contain just the icon, the surrounding transparent space was not touched. --My avatar's face to use in the signature Mariuigi Khed 18:19, December 2, 2023 (EST)

my edit to Sayonara[edit]

i was not aware of the words actual meaning. i apologize for my mistake i just assumed it was bad due to the way my grandma uses it
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gamerfromsaturn (talk).

Well, it's highly unfortunate that she does, but all that matters here is you learned from this. Don't worry. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 10:52, December 4, 2023 (EST)

Machine Made[edit]

Pardon my edit, I was mistaken; it was specifically Bowyer's Machine Made copy that didn't move in the original game. I misremembered and thought none of them did. Is that still worth noting for just him? DrakeyC (talk) 20:53, December 11, 2023 (EST)

No, because normal Bowyer doesn't have a battle idle animation either. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:03, December 11, 2023 (EST)
And once again you're right, my mind is double-tricking me XD. Sorry again. DrakeyC (talk) 23:10, December 11, 2023 (EST)
'sall right. o7 Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:13, December 11, 2023 (EST)

Red Gnawty image[edit]

Hi ^^

The image itself is good, but it stands out because its pose isn't the same as the one used for the others. Thanks for telling me about the image size, I managed to compress it just right. Do you think it would be ok to use it? I can send it to you if you want User:Pifouillou (talk)

Other images for DKCGB are different from each other (sometimes out of necessity, like walking vs jumping Kritters). I think it's nice to show variety until we get the full animations in. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 10:05, December 13, 2023 (EST)

The full animations ? What do you want to mean by that? I like the idea to show variety in sprites with the gifs, but it's a little odd when GBC's regular and red Gnawties sprites are side by side. User:Pifouillou (talk)

Full animations would be the animated .gifs. Showing them on a different frame is fine if they're still, though it doesn't really matter either way. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 12:37, December 13, 2023 (EST)

Ok well I add the compressed image, just in case :) User:Pifouillou (talk)

OK then. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:49, December 13, 2023 (EST)

The Spriters Resource[edit]

I created a new user in VG Resource. How many days I can submit to the site? ChristopherPAraujo (talk) 19:30, December 21, 2023 (EST)

I don't know offhand, but it's a few. Not very many, but a few. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:10, December 21, 2023 (EST)

I've been waiting 16 days and I still cannot submit! The website where I posted the material was closed, losing almost everything. ChristopherPAraujo (talk) 23:26, Jaunary 6, 2024 (EST)

You should ask a moderator. The submission rules say that posting in place of someone else is not allowed (except for administrators for archiving old sheets). Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:30, January 6, 2024 (EST)

I have to be a submitter to do it. I'm trying to retrieve material with archive.org, but there is no more Pictures Wiki. So I need your help to send them, because you are the only submitter I know. These are sprites that I completed over days, weeks and months. And what's worse, the Wii emulator no longer works.

ChristopherPAraujo (talk) 14:17, Jaunary 7, 2024 (EST)

I am not allowed to submit other people's sprites according to the rules, I could get banned for that. You need to reach out to someone if signing up on the site won't allow you to submit after so long. Are you able to comment? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 12:22, January 7, 2024 (EST)

I was going to comment, but only those who are submitters. But I made a contact. ChristopherPAraujo (talk) 14:44, Jaunary 7, 2024 (EST)

Can you contact the administrator to allow me to be a submitter? It's my chance to post the material I recovered. ChristopherPAraujo (talk) 00:52, Jaunary 8, 2024 (EST)

Sure. By the way, it says your account is not activated. Did you submit an email address when you signed up? If so, you'll probably want to look there for a confirmation link. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:32, January 7, 2024 (EST)
OK, the administrator said he tried to get ahold of you, but the email bounced. Check and make sure you entered your email correctly on the user control panel. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:26, January 8, 2024 (EST)
I made a confirmation link. I confirmed my email and everything is correct. When you were a member, how did you get accepted as a submitter? ChristopherPAraujo (talk) 13:53, Jaunary 8, 2024 (EST)
That was back in 2017, I don't remember. I can't find anything in my inbox about that. Is your inbox full? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 11:58, January 8, 2024 (EST)
How do I complete my inbox? ChristopherPAraujo (talk) 16:36, January 8, 2024 (EST)
Maybe this will help you remember. ChristopherPAraujo (talk) 16:40, January 8, 2024 (EST)
Do you have an active email address capable of sending and receiving emails. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:15, January 8, 2024 (EST)
I was seeing the rules, it was said that the team has to approve the user or remove the PMs (I don't know what it is). ChristopherPAraujo (talk) 21:53, January 8, 2024 (EST)
Answer my question, please. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:55, January 8, 2024 (EST)
What question? I don't remember! ChristopherPAraujo (talk) 23:00, January 8, 2024 (EST)
Do you have a functioning email address that you know can both send and receive emails. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:21, January 8, 2024 (EST)
No! ChristopherPAraujo (talk) 23:42, January 8, 2024 (EST)
Then you need to get one. Gmail is free to sign up on. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:04, January 8, 2024 (EST)
So I have to have two email address? One I have in my username and the other in Gmail? ChristopherPAraujo (talk) 00:16, January 9, 2024 (EST)
You're not making sense. I think the language barrier is getting to be too much. You need a pre-existing email address to make your profile on VG Resource. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:22, January 8, 2024 (EST)
I have this cpa1989@hotmail.com which is from my profile. Sorry for the hurry, but since Pictures Wiki was closed, I'm desperate. Because I no longer want to lose the material that I ripped and created, I managed to recover them. There are even sprites that I cannot make again. Tiki Tong, Tikis and Giga Goro Ball were made on the Wii emulator takes so long on my other PC. ChristopherPAraujo (talk) 00:48, January 9, 2024 (EST)
Hotmail should work. Make sure you can send and receive emails on it, and once you are sure you can, try re-sending the confirmation on VG Resource. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:57, January 8, 2024 (EST)

As social networks now require a telephone, it will take some time before I receive the telephone chip. ChristopherPAraujo (talk) 23:42, January 9, 2024 (EST)

Well, I don't know about that. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:47, January 9, 2024 (EST)

What is the VG Resource administrator's email address? I have a profile in outlook! ChristopherPAraujo (talk) 15:31, January 11, 2024 (EST) 21:47, January 9, 2024 (EST)

I don't know, but he has an email button here. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:46, January 11, 2024 (EST)

Bowser's Fury gallery[edit]

I'm wondering if you had this in mind with your proposal for a seperate page for Bowser's Fury? I'm skeptical because I once proposed splitting a gallery for Donkey Kong Adventure from the Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle gallery which failed badly for reasons I now understand. I didn't want to revert it without seeing what you have to say about it first. Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 21:32, January 1, 2024 (EST)

In that case, it's still the same game, just with different characters and location, so it's not 1:1. If splits involving paid DLC expansions get more traction down the line (especially with MK8DX's highly delayed content), then that might be worth revisiting. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:34, January 1, 2024 (EST)
What about the Bowser's Fury gallery then, which was my main question? Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 21:36, January 1, 2024 (EST)
I don't really see an issue with it. All the content in it is exclusive to the B-Side mode, which as previously established act as its own separate game. And if you consider the sheer size of the M&L remake galleries (especially regarding sprites), splitting them makes sense purely from a workability standpoint. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:38, January 1, 2024 (EST)

Bulb Boo[edit]

Yes, this looks like it. What would be some other outstanding ambiguities that a guide might clarify? LinkTheLefty (talk) 04:05, January 8, 2024 (EST)

So the question now is...what to do with this information? I suppose it would be a good idea to ask Mister Wu if he happens to have that guide. If not, I guess I can use up a gift card... LinkTheLefty (talk) 18:17, January 25, 2024 (EST)
Guess what? I randomly decided to look up this guide on eBay and found a listing that just so happens to share pictures. As luck would have it, one happens to have that very mini-game. Although the page number is cut off, it confirms that "Gas Boss Teresa" is legit! LinkTheLefty (talk) 17:45, April 23, 2024 (EDT)

Feedback for cleaning up Category:Thieves[edit]

Hello! Swallow and I are discussing a cleanup of Category:Thieves. Mind sharing your feedback? You were the one who suggested refining the definition back in 2017–2018, so I think you'd be perfect for this! SolemnStormcloud (talk) 17:09, January 8, 2024 (EST)

Wow, that was a long time ago. But yes, what I said there, it should refer primarily to career criminals or otherwise entities that are defined by stealing (like, say, Klepto the condor), not to everyone who pickpockets once or twice or opens a chest in someone else's house. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:20, January 8, 2024 (EST)
Thanks for your feedback! I also messaged Camwoodstock, and they responded with a looooong dissection of the category in its talk page. It's best you head over there so you can contest any entries. SolemnStormcloud (talk) 20:51, January 8, 2024 (EST)
Camwoodstock and I are currently discussing what a proposal on cleaning the category would even entail in the talk page. Would you mind sharing your take on this? SolemnStormcloud (talk) 13:58, January 12, 2024 (EST)

My outburst[edit]

I know I had a bit of an angry outburst, as I said I felt the need to vent the turn of these debates from the fact I left my thoughts on the subject and you immediately started bringing more cases into it. I did not mean to insult you and I'm absolutely not the kind of person to insult others for different opinions, and I don't even care about being an administrator either. I probably could have left out the word "stupid", but I still really don't like when more cases get piled up on me like that. I'm sure you know I'm not too good at debating and I try not to go too deep into it for the sake of my mental health as I've said many times before. Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 19:28, January 16, 2024 (EST)

Well, I mean, precedence is important for determining cases like that (especially for consistency's sake), that's all I'm trying to do when I bring up things like that. You may want to eschew talk page debates in general if you find yourself set off so easily. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:31, January 16, 2024 (EST)
I don't mind leaving my thoughts in discussions and proposals, but if possible I'd prefer to leave my involement there so that I'd have a much lower chance of getting set off. Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 19:37, January 16, 2024 (EST)
Therein the problem lies. A debate is a two-way street, you can't expect to leave an objection without receiving a defense. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:41, January 16, 2024 (EST)
"if possible I'd prefer to leave my involvement there" Then do that. As you've been told before, nobody here is dragging you into a debate, and nobody here aims to test your rhetorical prowess. You should always expect disagreements, but you're also free to just place your opinions on a discussion and leave as you please, for at the end of the day you are merely volunteering to edit. I certainly never thought of you as "dumb" just because you're not particularly invested in a discussion on a video game franchise; it was more so the attitude you expressed your thoughts with that I found miffing. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 20:13, January 16, 2024 (EST)
As another sysop, but not part of a heated debate so I have benefit of a cool head, I feel I'm obliged to comment. Swallow: there's plenty of ways to disagree. I understand that you're frustrated; I very much disagree with the reasoning and analogy being made in Talk:Chargin' Chuck, but I've interpreted your comment as an insult, even if it's unintentional, it's too defensive. Please restrain yourself, act more respectful toward the argument being made, and focus more on key points. We've all had the outbursts and have shown visible frustration during wiki debates, I'm sure. I've yelled at Koopa con Carne and Doc von Schmeltwick before, they know. Anyway no hard feelings intended for any of you, I'm just giving advice here. We're all in this wiki together. Mario (Santa)'s map icon from Mario Kart Tour Mario-HOHO! (Talk / Stalk) 20:57, January 16, 2024 (EST)

Super Mario Pia[edit]

Was the book only ever released in Japanese or are there editions in other languages? 'Cuz if it's the former I don't think the Multilang Profile template is necessary here. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 18:44, January 19, 2024 (EST)

It's just Japanese, but I can't find any other template to work with and I like the formatting it gives (mostly). Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:48, January 19, 2024 (EST)
You're suggesting there might be things you don't like in this template. I designed it (with Porple correcting the code) so if you have any feedback to improve it, please do tell! I'm actually eager to hear people suggesting improvements to my work on this site. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 19:14, January 19, 2024 (EST)
It's fine. The only issue I have is that I seem to have to put the media type no matter what, but it's a small issue. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:21, January 19, 2024 (EST)
Fixed. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 19:33, January 19, 2024 (EST)

removal[edit]

Okay, I'm working to get rid of tabber uses outside of those two cases. Thought you'd be glad to know. Super Mario RPG (talk) 15:30, January 20, 2024 (EST)

OK, thank you. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:38, January 20, 2024 (EST)

Re:NSMB file names[edit]

Not really, although I find it slightly interesting that himan.nsmbd has a mega_bros_2 texture and donketu.nsmbd has a new_donketsu[sic] texture. Crazy theory: maybe Sumo Bro was "mega_bros_1"? LinkTheLefty (talk) 18:17, January 25, 2024 (EST)

An acrobat swing is a thing that "trapeze" can refer to, while "swing" can also be used for the grab-bars.
Ah, I see. I think a trapeze is a type of swing, but it is not accurate to say all swings are trapezes, or that the terms can be used interchangeably. A trapeze is a bar suspended by ropes at both ends. If the subject is anything but that, it is not a trapeze.
If anything, I think it would be more accurate to change Japanese name on the Trapeze page to just say "swing", especially since a trapeze is more narrowly referred to as 空中ブランコ (Kūchū Buranko, "air swing") in Japanese, and the Japanese text only calls them ブランコ (Buranko). But I still don't think it is accurate to say the name of the Sunshine board can be translated to "trapeze". It just isn't one, and I don't think it was intended for it to be seen as one. - Nintendo101 (talk) 18:08, February 22, 2024 (EST)

About Aliens (yes, really)[edit]

We saw that there was a discussion to potentially delete Alien (Club Nintendo) and we had some time to kill, so we went ahead and reworked the entire article. Let us know how it looks--hopefully, a lot better, and some have mentioned it might not be worth deleting anymore (albeit, the older revision is probably fit for preservation on BJAODN... ;P)

P.S. sorry we haven't gotten around to the Thieves category. Rest assured, we did not forget! It's just that this year has been extremely hectic thus far, and we're waiting for a relative moment of pause before we re-commit to a larger project like that. ~Camwoodstock (talk) 02:32, February 23, 2024 (EST)

Ricco Harbor and Gelato Beach polluted pirahna plants.[edit]

been awhile since I've played the game, and since I've put that there, but that is exactly how it happened. done it once or twice, when the state of the plaza with the plants show up I was trying to do all of Bianco Hills, and when I got my next shine and returned to the plaza, the next plaza state was up with the boathouse resurfaced with the portal active, and the same thing happened to the lighthouse when it's event came around. If I recall this was on the original Gamecube version as well. Not sure if it has to be an uncollected shine, or one already obtained will suffice. But that is how it happened, I know for a fact I did not fight those Pirhana plants. Would say maybe it was a glitch, but then why did it happen at both times? regardless that was my experience and how it happened. all i did was collect shines instead of fighting them and the game treated it as if they were dealt with.Pikmin theories (talk) 01:55, March 10, 2024 (EST)

Sprite Prince Iggy[edit]

Isn't Iggy one of the few Super Princess Peach Koopalings where we have a pretty good idea of the intended assembly, though? Here is the test room with Iggy in his idle animation, and here is a better picture of it with the fog disabled. The "taller" shading looks a bit rougher, so I think they were at least going to go with a shorter Iggy before abandoning the Koopalings. LinkTheLefty (talk) 18:55, April 15, 2024 (EDT)

I suppose, but with the fogless one being a still image that's still not too much to go off of. His mouth also appears to be lolling open the entire time there as well, so it doesn't seem complete. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:15, April 15, 2024 (EDT)

Roles for Jagger, (Jackie) Chan and (Bruce) Lee[edit]

I'm coming to you directly since the parameter in statboxes was your idea. I think listing these characters' roles as "common" is very misleading because they're not common enemies, just one-time foes that use normal enemy battle music. I guess I can't convince you to label them as "bosses" for that reason, but I would like to at least change these to "one-time enemy" or something. Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 19:18, May 14, 2024 (EDT)

"Single battle" is good enough. I've also noticed this hasn't been done for the Color Splash and Origami King statboxes, I could take charge with that if you don't mind. Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 20:07, May 14, 2024 (EDT)
Go right ahead, I'm not as familiar with those two. To be honest, I started on that during a lull in my "sports games" expansion project, and slowed that down when I started picking up on the latter again. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:58, May 14, 2024 (EDT)
If you don't mind, I might need your help with putting the parameters in the statboxes, then I could fill them out in the bestiaries. The coding is a bit complicated for me. Listen[edit]

Even though you warranted me a warning about something, especially for me offering descriptions about character appearances and outfits, this technique isn't going to hurt the etiquette repetition whatsoever. There may be somewhat of a policy regarding providing information about what a character wears or what it looks like, but to the entire public, it could be still peruse to write about, regardless of any regulations or boundaries. You have a right to be adamantly defiant about this, especially if everyone has to play by rules, but for me (or anybody else) to write about the outfit descriptions or anyone's biology, this is sincerely NOT inappropriate or vandalism by any means. It sort of serves as a means of knowledge where other amateur editors on the site could soon learn from and improve their analytic skills. Even though your warning to me doesn't prove to be as helpful, I plan on adjusting to an alternative set to bypass regulations: relocating to the Italian and German language Wikis. VideoGamePhenomHD (talk) 15:21, May 25, 2024 (EDT)

@VideoGamePhenomHD Are you still complaining? You said basically the same thing on your talk page. Stop closely examining female characters. We're literally not asking much. And I'm definitely not keen on having editors here who have led enough of an online history to land themselves an article on Dramatica, especially since this can pose a liability to the wiki. Super Mario RPG (talk) 15:28, May 25, 2024 (EDT)
I assume your talking about Encyclopedia Dramatica, right? Well, listen wisely. That site is an untrustworthy site where most articles have peoples' personal/confidential information exposed there, especially if you research for an article titled VideoGamePhenom. There has been an incident that occurred nearly eight years ago where some other YouTube user was blocked by VGP on YouTube for exposing its personal information, and ever since, the culprit was responsible for creating the VideoGamePhenom article on ED. I apologize for breaking silence about an obscure story, but you're aware and that there is a means to bolster additional safety precautions. VideoGamePhenomHD (talk) 15:45, May 25, 2024 (EDT)

Regarding the Goomba King[edit]

Hopefully I'm not being too insistent on removing the idea that calling him the Chestnut King was a mistranslation... ^_^;; I found a Japanese wiki that says the matter is confusing to Japanese fans (here), and from a few other glances I've seen at Japanese fan discussions it seems like he's usually not considered to be the same. So it's possible that distinguishing the two in the English version was a deliberate choice. I realize now that it's a bit too speculative to suggest they aren't meant to be the same, though, so thank you. I hope my revision is acceptable...! DryKirby64 (talk) 19:29, May 27, 2024 (EDT)

Note on admin note, notingly[edit]

Hi, Doc. I am generally a glass half-full type of person and assume good faith, so I can totally understand where you may be coming from, but in my experience, there are a lot of folks out there who lie about who they are to mask their real intents, especially on the internet. To make it look like they are "just asking questions". The anonymous user on Vivian's talk page looked like they were engaging in that by me. I also urge you to consider that there are trans people who live in the Middle East and being (what I will generously regard as) "wariness" of trans people is not tied to being Middle Eastern at all. So when folks invoke their background or upbringing to justify a contentious viewpoint, that does not necessarily make that viewpoint okay.

I just wanted to let you know. And, hopefully this is not too personal, but I hope you're careful out there in the real world. There are people out there who will take advantageous of folks who are quick to trust. - Nintendo101 (talk) 11:05, May 29, 2024 (EDT)

MK8 Deluxe Sprites vs MK8 sprites[edit]

There is no reason to be uploading these two files separate. Unlike the other sprites you mentioned, the only difference is how the colors are compressed from a sprite, and it's an extremely minor difference (unlike the SMB NES vs SMAS); not even the resolution is affected (TTYD GCN vs TTYD Switch). Mario (Santa)'s map icon from Mario Kart Tour Mario-HOHO! (Talk / Stalk) 00:26, July 3, 2024 (EDT)

It's dishonest and disingenuous to plaster sprites from a reduxed version of the game all over the page and gallery of the original and act as though that is where they came from. I will not budge on that. Additionally, it is never wrong to include both for personal comparison. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:28, July 3, 2024 (EDT)
I've made a conscious decision to *not* upload as separate after examining the two simply because they're identical images in everything except one of them has compression artifacts. I see no benefit in keeping the 8U version of the picture at all, and as for comparison pics, that's why we have history sections. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C) 00:47, July 3, 2024 (EDT)
Those compression artifacts are part of what the Wii U is, though. Using assets that, in their rawest form, are exclusive to the George Lucas'd version, is -improper documentation- which is not what we are about. The entire point of uploading sprites is to be as accurate as possible to the source, not to pick and choose favorites. (Also, the argument does work for TTYD vs SPM, as those do have comparable resolutions but different artifacts.) Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:50, July 3, 2024 (EDT)
This isn't comparable to assets from other ports and remakes (TTYD's assets for example are higher resolution and actually look noticably different and I will argue to keep them here, unlike the worse quality 8 thumbnails). We upload thumbnails from these games to illustrate game assets, yes, but this wiki isn't an asset farm and it shouldn't be treated as such, and I think it's pointless to upload identical images just to illustrate, yes one of them came from weaker hardware. I used my judgement to not upload as separate because it's literally the same image, but one of them has clear hardware limitations and is a much worse picture than the other one. This is also the same reason we axed those shitty fmv thumbnails from Mario Party games in favor of screenshots. I don't think we'd be doing our readers a disservice because they see a clearly superior illustrative image from the remake (mind you, not even noticable unless you actively do side-by-side comparisons by making layers or gifs). BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C) 00:56, July 3, 2024 (EDT)
I think it matters regardless of whether they can be easily eyeballed or not (and at their native res, they honestly can, as I noticed several times today), especially since some actually are shared between characters while others aren't, which itself is an interesting tidbit. I'm just focused on accuracy and objectivism with the subject at hand, and having both available hurts absolutely nothing. (I also want to point out the outright reuse of sprites across games such as the 3DS M&L games, take a look at the Big Tail Goomba page and its outright identical images.) Either way, I'll upload the DX ones separately myself at a later point, I kinda already spent the entire day working to get it U-oriented so I don't have time to do so now. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:01, July 3, 2024 (EDT)

Retro course tables[edit]

Howdy! The only course table on the Mario Kart Wii article that comfortably scales to my phone are the battle stages. The Retro courses do not fit perfectly, and they slide a bit when I try to scroll through them. They also look awkward on desktop. The banner for individual cups scales the width of the whole page, while the columns for individual courses are a little over half that and slide all the way to the left.

I still recommend scrutinizing some of the information in these tables, the number of images used, and their scale. - Nintendo101 (talk) 15:43, July 4, 2024 (EDT)

Moving White Background?[edit]

Hello again. I noticed a problem with the files: File:Golf GB Girl bg left.gif , File:Golf GBC Girl bg left.gif , File:Golf GB Girl bg right.gif , and File:Golf GBC Girl bg right.gif where there seems to be a white background that jumps with the sprite. Is that intentional? If not, can you fix it? Two other things with those girl sprites, I don't think we need sprites that are just flipped and a few of them are duplicates. Cheese Head (talk) 17:41, July 4, 2024 (EDT)

They're the background layer, so that is indeed intentional (GB doesn't have transparent background), and they are stored as different graphics in the data (unlike how left-right sprites usually are), as well as different from the transparent sprite layer ones. That is why they are all included, because the game treats them as different. Trust me, I know what I'm doing. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:47, July 4, 2024 (EDT)

Well, the thing is that I don't think they're useful at all then. A game might consider two identical sprites as different, but it's more convenient to just use one. Cheese Head (talk) 20:56, July 4, 2024 (EDT)

I wanted to rip and upload every animation from the game, so I did. None of them are more important than any of the others, so they all get equal coverage. I don't really care whether a single random other person disagrees with that, it's already been uploaded and it's not hurting anything. Anyways, all their colored counterparts are there too. (Also, for the background ones, the GB literally cannot flip background layer tiles, so any that do appear flipped are by default separate graphics). Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:26, July 4, 2024 (EDT)

Sentence structure for "generic" subjects[edit]

YOOOOOOO[edit]

Hey. Blue Ninjakoopa (talk) 22:18, July 10, 2024 (EDT)

Additionally, they appear to have the same dynamics; the oldest is also the most powerful, the youngest is the most dim-witted and gets picked on but is the most beautiful, and the middle sister can detect children/Mario. Oh, and they meet the protaganists in a forest. I think. Blue Ninjakoopa (talk) 22:22, July 10, 2024 (EDT)
I'd say both are probably based off the Fates of classical mythology and/or the Weird Sisters from Macbeth crossed with the Hecate Sisters archetype (itself arguably drawing from the former two). Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:20, July 10, 2024 (EDT)

Hello again, fellow Diddy Kong Racing enthusiast[edit]

OK, I was considering having them be different myself, but I was ultra-exhausted last night and transcribing the manual bios took my remaining energy. I've been working on improving the sports/racing game coverage since a lot of them are oddly lacking, namely making the tables work better on different screen sizes, and if I'm not mistaken DKR was the start of that project. I'm going back now and fixing some mistakes I made on my first attempt, namely making sure it looks good on small screens as well. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 10:33, July 11, 2024 (EDT)

Goldbob's pass/manual[edit]

Something I noticed recently I thought you would be interested. In the original TTYD, this item is called "Goldbob Guide" and the description says it's a manual for the cannon. However, it's name in other languages including Japanese is "Usage Permit", which even carries over to the English localisation of the remake calling it a "written permission" instead of a manual in the description. Would you say this was a part of the original game's inconsistant localisation? Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 21:25, July 28, 2024 (EDT)

HI[edit]

Uhhhhh I donno XD. For the former, probably just so it's distinct from the others. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:38, August 4, 2024 (EDT)

Zelda[edit]

Hey, Doc. I'm sure you noticed, tbut I have been drafting a "crossover article" concept using The Legend of Zelda as a base, highlighting where it intersects with Super Mario. I think it has the potential to be a more serviceable consolidation of information otherwise scattered across the wiki. It's still in an early stage, but I wanted to know what you think. It can be found here. - Nintendo101 (talk) 11:25, September 2, 2024 (EDT)

On your upcoming Smash proposal[edit]

Are you sure merging Break the Targets and Board the Platforms is a good idea? These minigames contain Mario stages, something that should be covered separately. Also, a recent proposal removed Trophy Tussle for only having one fight on a Goomba throphy. Even though it's small, it is a Mario stage after all. What do you think? Axii (talk) 00:50, September 11, 2024 (EDT)

Unless we make individual articles for things like "Break the Targets (Mario, Super Smash Bros.)," I don't see it turning out any different from the Trophy Tussle thing. Granted, we could do that at some point, but it might be a bit much. For what it's worth, I am not wanting anything outright deleted, just turned into a redirect at most, so the history will still be there. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:44, September 11, 2024 (EDT)

Proposal backlogs[edit]

Hi, Doc. You raised two new proposals today, which is fine, but I wanted to take this opportunity to remind you that you have 10 passed proposals that are waiting to be implemented (including every unimplemented talk page proposal), with some having passed multiple years ago. Other users have noticed and raised this issue with staff.

Hi, generally speaking I prefer to give myself a sort of buffer of busywork, so that's why I do it in that way (if I don't have one, I tend to get a little.... erratic. Moreso than normal, I mean). Anyways, I am busy with other things at the moment (both in real life and the fact that I've been working on this MKT characters table for consecutive weeks since the "sports" thing is my most current project, as it has been for the past 15 months or so), so that's part of why it takes so long. I could understand that you like having projects on the back burner to go to, but I do not think you need 10 of them, and while you may have things going on in real life, you are active here enough for me to know you have not been so busy over the last three years (with your oldest proposal being September 12, 2021) that you could not work on implementing these. If you have the time to work on MKT character and sports tables, you have the time to merge the Crocodile Isle articles or split Bowser's Flame from Fire Breath. - Nintendo101 (talk) 00:21, September 26, 2024 (EDT)
Well those ones -just- passed, I'll get to them soon. Tomorrow I have a big event. (Regarding the Gear thing, the MLSS table unfortunately doesn't list when things are added to the BeanBean Castle Town Shop, which makes that a bit more difficult.) Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 02:06, September 26, 2024 (EDT)
I'm glad to hear you will work on those proposals soon, and I hope the event you have today goes well.
For the gear in Superstar Saga, someone has uploaded a pdf to the Internet Archives that shows the availability of individual gear on pages 124 and 125. I imagine that would be helpful. - Nintendo101 (talk) 13:18, September 26, 2024 (EDT)
I will love you forever. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:05, September 26, 2024 (EDT)

Proper separation for Gallery[edit]

The proposal was canceled because nobody agreed to generational separation. I want to find a proper way to separate them. Most of the proposals I made have failed. What method of split do you think would be appropriate? Mario is still a long sized even when separated by each decade. Other characters can be merged from the first decade with the next decade without any size issues. Later, when Mario turns 50, some galleries may be separate the first a quarter-century. The proposal has been canceled and hope that you can find a proper division method. Windy (talk) 15:18, October 8, 2024 (EDT)

I'm not sure, to be honest. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:56, October 8, 2024 (EDT)
Before making this proposal, I was worried that it would be an opposition bomb. Windy (talk) 16:59, October 8, 2024 (EDT)

Tryforce[edit]

I'm a little behind on modern Zelda (I still haven't gotten around to playing through any of the post-BotW games) but I'll try. Embarrassingly, though, it seems I've forgotten my password and don't recall if I've set up an email. What do? If I were to make a new account, can you merge 'em? LinkTheLefty (talk) 09:02, October 13, 2024 (EDT)

Uhh I'd have to ask Porple how that works XD. (Also, kinda in the same boat, so many of those "ultra-big" Switch games have been such slow going I haven't touched TotK yet and I haven't bought EoW yet). Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 12:59, October 13, 2024 (EDT)

Mario Sports Mix audience images[edit]

Done, two sprites were missing. [1] blueberrymuffin (talk) 15:55, October 14, 2024 (-03 UTC)

Toad can be found in Daisy Garden in Dodgeball or Feed Petey modes. blueberrymuffin (talk) 20:20, October 14, 2024 (-03 UTC)

Re:Pokemon Smash images[edit]

The Pokemon images should all be undeleted now. - RHG1951 (talk) 18:18, October 25, 2024 (EDT)

File:Smash Skiff.png is now undeleted too. - RHG1951 (talk) 22:47, October 25, 2024 (EDT)

Re: Blueberrymuffin's rips[edit]

You are also tarnishing the "accuracy" of these sprites by uploading it to a wiki to begin with because you have to file other file guidelines such as naming.--UM3000 E-102 Gamma.png

I don't really wish to speak on anything else, but I will say this: my uploads were supposed to have comments, but did not due to a bug with batch upload not supporting that for new files. Anyway, I understand what you are saying, but still think it is unnecessary, as it can easily be accommodated on both the gallery and table front without any unnecessary tampering of files, period. I don't believe it is needed at all for those Mii costumes. I checked myself, they don't look wrong at all on the table on the article.--UM3000 E-102 Gamma.png
Do as you please, I wasn't aware of that.--UM3000 E-102 Gamma.png

I agree with you, sprites should be preserved so as not to lose quality when placing them in the gallery or table. And this is not just a matter of aesthetics, the actual use of the command [widths="120" heights="120"] depends on standardization. blueberrymuffin (talk) 21:03, October 28, 2024 (-03 UTC)

Not sure why, I am certain I optimized them all with PNGMonstrous.--UM3000 E-102 Gamma.png

Re:Artwork game-by-game comparison[edit]

Hrm, I think the angle of the arm is different, yeah. The lighting on her face also seems slightly brighter on one of them.--UM3000 E-102 Gamma.png

"Bowser's" Flame[edit]

I wanted to pick your brain on something. Do you think the fire launched by King Totomesu, Piranha Plant (statue), and similar subjects are the "same" as Bowser's Flame, or is it really dependent on Bowser or a member of his species spitting the fireball for it to count as Bowser's Flame? - Nintendo101 (talk) 23:16, November 4, 2024 (EST)

I've been thinking about that in regards to subjects like Autobomb, since I noticed its NES sprite resembles Bowser's flame (more than its SNES one, which iirc just uses the Birdo/Tryclyde/Fryguy fire).

On-The-Fly Crop[edit]

#126 • Encourage game-related "icon"-type images to have consistent file dimensions with each other when applicable to their origins, Doc von Schmeltwick (ended November 11)

I agreed with your proposal about bad crops. I did find a template that can leave the OG file alone and apply the crop on-the-fly, where needed. tcrf:Template:CSS image crop Hope this encourages you to try again. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 00:30, November 26, 2024 (EST)

That looks utterly splendid. I've gone ahead and proposed adding a version of it to this wiki. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:53, November 27, 2024 (EST)

MKAGP1 sprites[edit]

Yes, all sprites of character selection came in a single sheet. Blueberrymuffin (talk) 16:09, December 14, 2024 (-03 UTC)
