Red Paragoomba
"Red Paragoomba" or "Paragoomba (Red)" refers to a specific type of Paragoomba that hops along the ground in Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Princess Peach. This hopping behavior is exhibited by the brown-colored "normal" Paragoombas in most other 2D Super Mario games, but in these titles, they instead fly through the air and carry Mini Goombas.

Mini Goomba
This is the first little enemy variant to have its size denoted in its nomenclature, and it has largely been adopted for similar enemies introduced after it, including Small Piranha, Small Cheep Cheep, and Small Chomp. Its Japanese name in Super Mario Bros. 3 and most subsequent games is マメクリボー (Mame Kuribō), which directly translates to "Bean Goomba." In Japanese, マメ (Mame) is a common suffix denoting one who is short or small in stature.[citation needed] The small-sized Goomba enemies in Super Mario 64 and Paper Mario: Color Splash are referred to as ちびクリボー (Chibi Kuribō), which more directly translates as "Small Goomba." (Check how Mario Portal does these things.) The ones in Super Mario 64 are behaviorally comparable to the Mame Kuribo that subsequently appear in Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2; the underlying reason why the small Goombas in Super Mario 64 are not called Mame Kuribo, including in modern aggregative sources like the Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia and Mario Portal, is not apparent.
The official German guidebook for Super Mario 64 asserts that Mario is the one who appears in different sizes when depending on which painting he enters for Tiny-Huge Island rather than the course itself, so it does not provide discrete names for the small and large Goomba enemies.

Sledge Bro
The English "Sledge Bro" is in reference to sledgehammers. While this is not the type of mallet tossed by Sledge Bros, this name retains the size contrast conveyed between Sledge Bros and the related Hammer Bros in their respective Japanese names because sledgehammers are a larger, heavier tool than normal hammers. Like related Hammer Bro enemies, the name was originally relayed in full as "Sledge Brother."[174] Sledge Bros were conflated with normal Hammer Bros in promotional material for Super Mario Bros. 3, particularly within The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3. In the early 2000s, localizations into English and other European languages for various games occassionally referred to these enemies as Sumo Bros,[175] another large Koopa enemy introduced in Super Mario World. This ended near the release of New Super Mario Bros. U in 2012, which includes both enemies.
