Fire Nipper Plants,[1] also known as Fiery Walking Piranhas[2] or Walking Ptooies,[3] are a rare fire-breathing version of Nipper Plant.

History[edit]

Super Mario Bros. 3[edit]

In Super Mario Bros. 3, only one Fiery Walking Piranha appears in the entire game, near the end of World 7-8. It stays in place, and when Mario or Luigi approaches, it attacks him by spitting fireballs that arc in his direction. It acts similarly to a red Panser from Super Mario Bros. 2, though a Fiery Walking Piranha can shoot up to four fireballs at once instead of two.

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team[edit]

Although they are never explicitly called Fire Nipper Plants, regular Nipper Plants are depicted as being able to breath fire in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Fire Nipper Plants are mentioned briefly by Viridi in the Japanese Palutena's Guidance dialogue for Piranha Plant. They are not mentioned at all in the English version; however, when the game is set to Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, or Korean, the subtitles include the name Fire Nipper Plant in English.[1]
