Spinies have brown fur and pointed black and white quills. This protects them from both rear and jumping attacks. If Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong attempt either type of attack, they get injured. The Kongs can defeat a Spiny by rolling into it, using Team-up, throwing an object at it, or by jumping on it with either Rambi or Rattly. A Klampon sometimes accompanies a Spiny, such as in Castle Crush. Klampons are the opposite of Spiny in that they cannot be defeated from roll attacks, but are vulnerable to jumps.
