I'm not sure why it doesn't work on your end, but moving capitalised "PNG" files seems to work fine for me. If you'd like, you can upload any modified versions of the original file as newer versions of that file and tag them with rename so it can be moved instead of deleted with the original upload history intact. 23:51, 1 September 2018 (EDT)

:I probably thought that it would be recognized by the wiki as a different extension. There might've once been a time when I edited a wiki before, and it didn't work. I think that 9 capital letter limit in filename made me think it won't. Anyway, i tried on DK Jungle Climber title screen, and thankfully that worked when moving, so I can't remember why i subconsciously thought it wouldn't move the extension. Glad to know I was wrong. == DKC item info ==
Hello. I really like how you have formatted those DKC2 levels lately, but I find those location details for minor items, such as banana coins and extra lives, to be a bit too much. They aren't as "sought" as DK Coins and Kremkoins, which are more interesting because they actually help complete the game. In my opinion, eliminating the task of adding that kind of info would absolve anyone from tedious additional work with little pay-off just to keep everything consistent across pages. This is just a suggestion, it's all up to you. That being said, putting elements from a level in tables is something really neat that I would like to see implemented in more pages. I have also discussed this with Scrooge200. -- 20:29, 7 November 2018 (EST)
:I know it's not as sought after but it does still count as a fact. The information is mentioned on the corresponding DK Wiki article, and that wiki is being dismantled and merged here, so i want to try and get every bit of info from there that I can, even small, minor details (to give the reader something new). Of course, it's pretty much up to the writer on what to include and what to not. I just like to implement the information that I can. == Banana count ==
Should I also count the bananas on the End of Level Target roulette? Right now, I count the ones in bonus rooms and warp rooms, but I'm not sure about the goal ones. I think some levels have two amounts of bananas on the goal roulette. So, do those count? Do I put something like "11 bananas are on the End of Level Target"? Or do I just add them to the total? Scrooge200 (talk) 17:55, 9 November 2018 (EST)
:I wouldn't add them to the total. What I do is say "prizes from the End of Level Target include banana, banana bunch coin, etc." at the very end of the level layout section. Don't add them to the total. Results May Vary (talk) 18:38, 9 November 2018 (EST)

:::No problem, thanks so much for helping out. It's exhausting to do the level articles, especially when you try and merge DK Wiki revision + its images in as well. Results May Vary (talk) 18:42, 9 November 2018 (EST)
Is having a banana count even a good idea? What about all those ones hidden in unassuming places in the ground in the first DKC? Not the ones in the holes that break open, but ones that are accessed seemingly at random through the hand slap? At least I seem to recall that occurring.... Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:46, 9 November 2018 (EST)
:I mean why not? It doesn't have to be this complicated--that we debate over whether or not it's a good idea. I've already explained that none of us are obligated to add the total count (based on the map at dkcatlas.com/maps/), let alone any level info at all. I've explained why I think it's a good idea to add them. Maybe the reader can use that count to calculate how many extra lives it's possible to get from the level. == "dont like how my dkcr extras edit was reverted though" ==
I'm not against making a standard format for DK tables, such as that with shades of brown. In fact, I used it myself for this section. But make sure you adapt it for the table's scope, instead of just forcing it in there (see how neat the control table looks, where each move is associated to a certain button by color).
Your edit on the DKCR extras page was reverted because the color-coded sections had a reason, as explained in the paragraph before the table, and you scrapped that. And the Scrapbook table is frankly more confusing to navigate now, whereas previously each page along with its contents was divided by a color. It's better to use colors constructively to guide the reader's eyes between associated cells, than making a confusing hodge-podge. -- 18:11, 10 February 2019 (EST)

::::It looks good now. Oh no, don't worry. If anything, I'm suspicious of Zelda Dungeon. I think it's commendable that you've brought it up transparently and want to listen to our opinions on the matter. My point was that, if a reason you are considering it is because management of the wiki is too hard on yourself, then I understand and won't hold any hard feelings if you choose to accept. So while I'm wary of Zelda Dungeon's motives and I think we've laid out thoughts overall against merging on the table, I also believe that the decision whether to go through with it or not is totally your call as the founder to make in the end, though it may be worth exploring other options if they are really willing to work with us. In the meantime, I'll be treating things like business as usual like the others. I hope that clears things up. Having said that, it would be best to limit discussion of Triforce Wiki here going forward since we can centralize our wiki-related discussions there (and because Alex95 asked Doc and I nicely and I want to respect that). == Nintendo Europe Art Stuff (Mario related, of course) ==
Hey, RMV - I see that you've been doing your best to relay all that art asset stuff from the Nintendo of Europe end; just one question, are you keeping tabs on respective places there to see if any "better quality" updates have been posted in regards to Mario Tennis Aces and Super Mario Party? Because I'm very sure in regards to this wiki, we're still patiently waiting for better quality arts to definitely surface for the two games, especially the former. --M. :: Yeah, but what I meant is in terms of the character art material stuff themselves regarding Mario Tennis Aces. We hoped that the rest of the character/promo art assets would have surfaced before the game's actual release; but still no breakthroughs on that end. I'm still waiting for us to get our hands on specified ones which haven't had their high resolution "source versions" surface yet to this day. --M. ::: Ugh, that's sick; still can't give up though. Hopefully we'll get them eventually, especially those said MTA promo arts that I and others are still waiting on. Also, regarding what you got from said area regarding Super Mario Party, any luck on others related to that main visual? Other than that, we still can't give up hope - still hoping for the rest of the Mario Tennis Aces and Super Mario Party promo arts to actually surface; I know that along with what I'm still looking for, I'm hoping we'll be able to finally get our hands on a logo-less version of the Mario Tennis Aces main visual picture. First of all, I know I've told you before that these types of remarks are unacceptable.
Second, what was wrong with the Jungle Hijinxs (Donkey Kong Country) page? My thought process was showing where the K-O-N-G Letters are in the chart, rather than the unhelpful letter sprites alone. It doesn't matter if they're insignificant, as they are completely optional anyway, but the images would be more helpful in the chart than the image gallery. Also said before the "Secrets" header isn't really that necessary, but I guess it doesn't really matter if it's there or not, either. 14:54, June 13, 2019 (EDT)

:I suppose it looks fine. personally i'd prefer if there were consistent screenshots between the versions, as the only non-snes screenshot is of the letter N. It would be best if it were GBA images really, as those are what's required. i guess for dkc2/dkc3, either/or can go, as they're not required in either title. == RE:Response to Results May Vary ==
(Continued from Trig Jegman's talk page)
Alright, enough of that.<br>
First of all, to RMV, you can't claim ownership over a file name (unless it's a personal image or a 'Shroom image). Once it's on the wiki, it's on the wiki for anyone to edit. It's a key point in the editing window disclaimer: "If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly and redistributed at will, then don't submit it here." The only real exception to this is during an ongoing project and you don't want others to get involved, but even then, once the project is done, it's free game. Furthermore, while this doesn't apply to all of the recently moved file names, there is nothing wrong with clarity. If the new file name describes the image better, then there's nothing wrong with file name and moving it back to the original name just because you're the original uploader is just petty.<br>
To Trig, yes, the file renames do tend to pile up and cause more work than is necessary, but I honestly have no problem with that. You can't delete anything yourself, so it's up to the admin to take care of it. We wouldn't have accepted this role if it didn't mean we were up for the maintenance. We just get around to it when we have the time to do so, or take care of it little by little.<br>
That said, I have noticed a few points of inaccuracy in the file names, and sometimes you move a file when the naming is already clear, consistency notwithstanding. We aren't strict with our file names; as long as the name is accurate and can distinguish it between another file, it is perfectly fine, even if the name is all lowercase after an uppercase abbreviation. It doesn't matter if it's Game-Object-Type, or Type-Game-Object, or Object-Type-Game. As long as the file is accurate, it does not matter. Removing unnecessary punctuation, such as dashes that are used in place of spaces (that never made sense to me) or interfile periods, are perfectly fine.<br>
Debating some kind of warning here, but for now, I don't want to see this problem again, but if there is something you feel is wrong, you talk it out before moving the file back, alright? 00:28, December 22, 2019 (EST)
:"It doesn't matter if it's Game-Object-Type, or Type-Game-Object, or Object-Type-Game. As long as the file is accurate, it does not matter" - exactly, this is what i was trying to say, and I know this might have been lost in the midst of my arguing. He was trampling over my own file uploads for small reasons, and it felt personal. I understand his intent with clarity but there are concrete examples of him trying to quietly enforce his file naming preference over others. I linked two blatant examples of this on the talk page. This is why I don't like seeing excuses of filenames, such as my own uploads, being renamed for slight reasons, just so that it matches his own preferred format. Results May Vary (talk) 00:33, December 22, 2019 (EST)
::I see your problem with the NSMBW file, all it did was remove the "ii" part of "Wii" and move the abbreviation to the start. It didn't effect anything. For the City Tripper file, as I said, the hyphens in place of spaces never made sense to me, so I have no problem with them getting removed; them getting removed also coordinates with our image use policy. This is something the message above clarifies.
::"Don't be a hypocrite and blame me for your own actions." "Oh, so why are you calling me childish?" You've been told off for these remarks before. Both of you are having issues, you don't need to add fuel to the fire, even if you feel the need to retaliate. I don't mean never stand up for yourself, but being rude about it is not the way to go handle it. 00:45, December 22, 2019 (EST)
:::It's ok if the hyphens were removed, I just feel alarmed that he switched the order of images, e.g. City Tripper example i posted. Maybe part of it is because i prefer a certain naming format, but the other part is, like you said, it doesnt matter which order it's in, as long as the subject is described clearly. I dont want all the filenames on the wiki to follow the same format, so switching the filename order like with City Tripper is unfair.
:::As for the remarks, yeah they were rude. What would you have done in this situation? because i just wanted to be direct about it Results May Vary (talk) 00:51, December 22, 2019 (EST)
::::The file rename doesn't need to be focused on just one fix, he can change the order as long as that's not the only thing he's doing. Completely up to him, the file's getting moved and links are getting fixed, anyway.
::::I would've ignored them, or rebutted them in a professional manner, like "Maybe you think that about me, but this is my reasoning as to why I did this." Work more on finding a compromise or explaining why you did/think something than proving your point, but if you're ultimately shown to be in the wrong, you're in the wrong; that goes for both parties. 01:01, December 22, 2019 (EST)

It's still a red link after all this time, so I took making a new article over it as very low priority - though I was also thinking of just expanding the existing Red Balloon and Blue Balloon articles to cover the Barrel Blast information, since it seems likely that a spinoff based heavily on the Donkey Kong Country series would intentionally repurpose the same object. == amiibo Renders ==
Hello, I saw that you had posted this Donkey Kong artwork here, however you had to downscale it by 10% in order meet the 10MB limit imposed by MarioWiki. I was curious to know if you still have the original and if so, is there any way to share it? Maybe by using a better compression or something? Or if you could contact me, we could work something out.
I have been looking for highest resolution versions of the renders used on the Super Mario Series amiibo. The amiibo launched alongside Mario Party 10 and it appears a few of the renders were done previously, then used for that game. If you have time, could you maybe take a look around to see if you can find a hi-res versions of the following character art? (If it's a hassle, don't worry, it's no big deal.)
Wario: His Mario Party 10 is here, although it's lo-res. It was used in Mario Tennis Open too, so it might have originated from that game or even before that. It might've been reused in Mario Party: Star Rush or Mario Party: The Top 100. They originally did this pose for Mario Party 6, then re-did it...then re-did it again for Super Mario Party, but I'm looking for a hi-res version of the one in the middle - the one used for Mario Party 10 & Mario Tennis Open.
Toad: His amiibo art comes from this render used on Mario Kart Wii and probably re-used elsewhere aftwerwards. Originally, the render was done for Mario Party 6, but sometime around Mario Kart Wii, they re-did it with brighter lighting.
Koopa Troopa: It's amiibo art comes from this render, originally from Super Mario 3D Land. The only image I've found for it is that one linked there which is pretty lo-res.
Mario: His amiibo art is taken from this render, originally from Fortune Street. Unfortunately, that linked image doesn't have official transparency. Could you please check to see if it's available with official transparency, maybe along the Mario Party 10, Star Rush, or The Top 100 files?
Diddy Kong: I don't know where this render comes from. Possibly specifically done for his amiibo?
Thanks for your time and all you've contributed to Mario Wiki, I see you've done a lot. Again, if it's a hassle looking for all that stuff, don't worry, I know you're more of a Donkey Kong fan, it's all good. Thanks! MarioLandCitizen (talk)

Re:Update
Hey RMV. Hope you're holding up well. I was thinking of making the Marin page for the anniversary of Link's Awakening instead, but looks like I was holding it off too long. That's fine, looks good! I also see the 300th article is approaching and I have just the idea for it: the Essence of the Triforce from A Link to the Past. What do you think? In other news, I've went ahead and ordered the Japanese versions of Art & Artifacts (Hyrule Graphics) and Zelda Encyclopedia (Hyrule Encyclopedia), so when I get my hands on them I expect to have some pretty big things to set some records straight at Triforce Wiki. Anyway, regarding Kirby and Star Fox - sure, go ahead. It'd be a shame if that information remained exclusive to Wikia. I should note that, while I don't have too much of a problem with Arwingpedia (at least last I checked), I'm not really a fan of how Kirby Wiki has been presenting their information as of late (for example, they somehow twisted my old observation that Kirby's gender was written ambiguously in Japanese into flat-out "Kirby is gender neutral" - which, long story short, doesn't mean the same thing since that just isn't how Japanese language works, so I'd almost advise not to mention it at all for the sake of future-proofing). I did make an attempt a short while back to correct some of the issues with the wiki, but I get the impression they may be too far-gone in their fancruft, so be careful of what you borrow. That said, I am semi-active on WiKirby as AdieuLain <small><small>(a pun of Adeleine and Serial Experiments Lain because why not)</small></small> so if you have any Kirby-related questions you can feel free to ask me there. As for Final Fantasy, the games I'm most intimately familiar with are the first one, IV, and VI - the series has had so many name changes over the years, some even with concurrent rerelease translations (e.g. IV on DS, then PSP reverting to the GBA script with edits, which itself was the PS script with edits) that it's hard to keep track of it all. I did know a few people who wanted a more "purist" take on a Final Fantasy Wiki, so that might be something to consider. LinkTheLefty (talk) 14:30, April 16, 2020 (EDT)
:Funny enough, I asked the same question one time. I'm paraphrasing as this was years ago but it went something like this: one person rationalized that a "purist" wiki would favor Square's original releases over Square Enix's rereleases since they said that most gamers likely grew up with the classic versions that made the franchise famous, to which the majority seemed to agree, but then another person chimed in that a "purist" wiki would pick and choose the translations most accurate to the Japanese text, and then yet another wanted the common fan-translations to count, and afterwards the conversation kind of devolved into an argument so I sort of checked out. I've seen the sentiment come up a few times since, but I noticed that everyone who wanted an alternative wiki had one thing in common: no one liked how the Wikia apparently straight-up replaced perfectly fine older images with equivalents from later versions (logos, screenshots, sprites, etc.). I see where they're coming from since I've seen Clyde Mandelin analyze a screenshot from a PSP release once to explain why it's visually unappealing. I know this is subjective and anecdotal, but there does seem to be a somewhat substantial demand for it, so maybe that would be a good place to start? I remember it was pointed out odd that, in contrast to the Wikia's belief that the newer aesthetics are Square Enix's "current vision", spinoffs like Dissidia and mobile games more often than not refer to the finalfantasy finalfantasy finalfantasy title designs, and the characters in several mobile games use a distinct graphical style that can only be called "original Final Fantasy VI" as opposed to the version actually on the platform. If nothing else, I think it'd help give it a unique identity and attract fans put off by Wikia, so it might be worth considering. By the way, about the Elfheim article: the PAL version of Final Fantasy Origins has the Erdrick reference, but in the NTSC version (or at least, the copy I had), it mentions Link instead. <small>Also, I greatly appreciate it, but there's no need to thank me...if there's anyone to thank, thank the architects of this wiki's naming policy!</small> LinkTheLefty (talk) 18:25, April 16, 2020 (EDT)
::I hadn't noticed the Mario Kart 8 replacements, though if I'm not mistaken, the Switch version is visually the same except displayed at a higher resolution, which is a different situation. I'll be sure to get in touch with some of those online acquaintances and see if they're interested now that there's a new wiki. I recall they shared some other similar grievances about Wikia's approach. I must warn you, however: Final Fantasy is practically a Behemoth and my own knowledge of the series is mostly limited to the Sakaguchi era. =p LinkTheLefty (talk) 20:31, April 16, 2020 (EDT)

::::Happy Anniversary! <small>By the way, I'm still waiting for Hyrule Graphics and Hyrule Encyclopedia - I hope they didn't get lost in the mail, or intercepted by Wikia Yigas, or something.</small> LinkTheLefty (talk) 16:35, April 30, 2020 (EDT)
:Interesting developments! I have considered joining Final Fantasy Wiki, but the simple truth of the matter is that I'm frankly a bad multitasker when it comes to editing multiple wikis. That's why you'll notice I tend to edit Triforce Wiki in spurts. The Mario franchise seems to have the most activity, so I guess this wiki naturally ended up getting most of my attention. That's just me, though; I probably will join Final Fantasy Wiki at some point since I do have a few ideas of my own that I'd like to contribute. For instance, I think it would be really cool presentation-wise if the reader can choose their preferred game logo (e.g. the 1987, 1990, 2000, and 2007 logos having their own tabs in the original Final Fantasy game infobox). The Japanese name for Black Mage should be くろまじゅつし and Thief should be シーフ by the way. Anyway, I'm a little amazed how the Mario Wiki structure is just starting to be applied elsewhere since it seemed so universal to me. I'm glad those are taking off! I am intrigued what you meant by that last paragraph, about possibly starting a non-NIWA alliance from scratch. As far as I've known, Zelda Wiki was the only loose cannon, but I haven't been paying close attention. I admit I don't know too much about StrategyWiki, but I do use it from time to time when GameFAQs fails me. Feel free to tell me more of your thoughts at Triforce Wiki - I should be finished with my analysis of Hyrule Encyclopedia this weekend so I'll have a lot to say too. ::I'm '96 so not far off. The 90s and 2000s were the wild, wild west for the internet. No big corporations, just a vast library of poorly coded websites with no moderation, and tons of fan websites ran by teenagers. ::::The older I get, the less time I have for games. But I did play a lot of shooter games in my teen years, mostly on Steam and Xbox Live. Dedicated half my life to Garry's Mod, and Halo, Fallout, Call of Duty ... but like I said, my attention span and interest for games is diminishing by the years. Aging sucks.
::::Love meeting a fellow Rare fan. They truly made some of the best games on the Nintendo 64, better than Nintendo themselves, I swear by it. A lost art now, though, for their output post-2004 is... well. Sea of Thieves seems to be a nice breath of fresh air, at least. If the 1980s were dominated by Mario and Zelda, the 2000s were dominated by Halo and Call of Duty, the 2010s by Minecraft and the rise of indie developers, and the 2020s by Fortnite, then I award the 1990s to Rare. <small>And Sonic and Crash.</small>

That domain expired, and I, not wanting to pay the full $15+ or whatever it is to renew it, moved it over to ... linkjorge.net. (Back then you could register .net domains for like $2 I think? Or something like that.) Linkjorge.net being partnered with the wiki is evidenced here. Why the hell did I point a wiki to a domain name that was my own name? I have no idea. Was awful for naming purposes. All because 13 year old me did not have the pennies to shell out a renewal fee. Just wanted to let you know that I'd prolly be just as adamant with imposing Mario Wiki standards upon other NIWA wikis as you are. == Regarding the Smash proposal ==
Just so you know, the option you're voting for will still heavily cut the lists of trophies, stickers, and spirits. The only non-Mario items that would be retained on those lists are the ones for fighters, and if I'm reading Doomhiker's statements correctly, won't be effective retroactively. Little Mac's Brawl trophy would still be removed because he didn't become a fighter until Smash 4, for example. It's a very "all or nothing" proposal so there's no options that would only affect some of the listed articles. I just thought I'd let you know since your vote reasons and edit summary don't seem in line with the option you chose. -- 13:32, March 7, 2021 (EST)

RE:Link's Awakening Switch gallery
Anything that can't really be classified in just one main section (Artwork, Screenshots, etc.) should be put under Miscellaneous, and I believe the gallery is headed in the right direction with regard to that! There's already a good amount of Twitter-sourced pictures in there, so when applicable I'd additionally include a "Twitter" subsection to neatly separate them from other uploads of miscellaneous nature--the imminent Play Nintendo stuff that I'm flogging these wikis with, for instance. 20:02, August 21, 2021 (EDT)
:Yeah, it's implemented well (and it's a sick poster if I've ever seen one). I would archive the web page it originates from (using Wayback Machine, for instance) and add a link to it next to the original Facebook source in the picture's aboutfile template; this is to ensure we still have a way to verify it's an official piece in case the Facebook post is deleted <small>or Facebook itself is wiped out</small>, as I believe it's the type of content that could raise an eyebrow or two on its authenticity. 20:37, August 21, 2021 (EDT)
::I believe this one, too, is placed well--it isn't specific enough to mingle well with pictures in above sections, hence it's a miscellaneous picture--and I find it commendable that you also integrated a context in its caption. 20:56, August 21, 2021 (EDT)
:::Depends. The caption should offer a brief but encompassing description--that is, the purpose of that image where it was originally published, without going into detail on the elements appearing in it unless it's relevant to the explanation. The file description can be as encompassing as you wish, however, since at that point the reader is assumed to had clicked on the image for more details. I really hope my feedback helps! 21:09, August 21, 2021 (EDT)
::::Please do! I think you're doing a good job so far uploading and organising content. 21:18, August 21, 2021 (EDT)
:::::Aye, :Category:Facebook Images is good to go, and if a picture has origins on multiple websites, it should be categorised by those accordingly; this was a proviso in the original proposal. Also, I see no problem with using the egg picture as a reference for the “yellow egg” parsing if it’s unique from the usual way Nintendo formats it (“Yellow Egg”). 12:04, August 22, 2021 (EDT)
::::::Spruced the category up with things like the Tropical Freeze Valentine’s Facebook posts. Keep on looking for interesting stuff! 14:02, August 22, 2021 (EDT)
:::::::Actually, I think it would fit better in the artwork gallery, specifically its “Miscellaneous” section. If you put it there, make sure whether the other pictures are in some sort of chronological order and choose a spot in said chronology where March 2013, St. Patrick’s Day, (the picture’s original upload date) would fall on. 15:27, August 22, 2021 (EDT)
::::::::Yeah, I also often worry about consistency in captions, but in the end I don’t think it’s that major of an issue unless the caption gets so lengthy it sort of cascades down that short space under the image. 15:39, August 22, 2021 (EDT)
:::::::::On second thought, I think the pic fits better where you put it. That caption is loooong. 15:47, August 22, 2021 (EDT)
RE:Nintendo Kids Club
Hey, good job so far! I don’t think I have any observations to make on the article as it is right now. Do make sure to include the messages displayed for choosing the wrong or right answer on each question, perhaps using an alternate framing method from the one offered by the Play Nintendo Table template as Nintendo Kids Club doesn’t display those smiley faces. 03:28, August 24, 2021 (EDT)
:The table format was very well thought out and I can only tip my hat off to your creativity. I don’t think a template is warranted here, however, since it’s unlikely the format will be used any further. 13:27, August 25, 2021 (EDT)
::Yep. As you said, the current format doesn’t spoil the answer unless the reader deliberately chooses to have it displayed. It also has the added benefit of keeping the table compact, easy to go through and to the point. I find it similar to how I formatted the tables on pages such as List of Play Nintendo cards, and you know <small>what they say, great minds think alike and all that</small>. 19:48, August 25, 2021 (EDT)
:::In this case, how do you plan integrating the thumbnails/icons with their sections? I’m referring to the images displayed on the left of each row in the table. Maybe you could just put it beside the section’s general description like any other wiki image; would that look good? 13:14, August 26, 2021 (EDT)
RE:WarioWare countdown graphic
You did a good job on those. The WarioWare countdown graphics posted prior to the one I uploaded seem to have been deleted and, unlike you, I was negligent enough to let them slip by... Why are they even deleted in the first place? To clean up their timeline? 19:12, September 6, 2021 (EDT)<br>
EDIT: I would once again highly recommend using Wayback Archive to archive any tweets you derive pictures from! You don’t have to be as punctilious as I am with the date and time of the archivation or other such specific thingamadoodles (it’s a bit cumbersome to keep track of those and they are the reason I often slack off on contributing missable media), but it’s good practice to ensure those sources don’t go away forever on the whim of their original posters.
:If memory serves right, the SuperMario_UK Twitter, where I got that Jimmy T. countdown art from, posted a few other countdown pictures before it (“6 days to go”, “7 days to go”, etc.) I don’t see them on the account’s timeline anymore; either they were removed the next day, posted by another Nintendo account, or I need to lay off the antidepressants. Regardless, I archived the Jimmy T. tweet and linked to that archive on the graphic’s wiki file page. 19:27, September 6, 2021 (EDT)
RE:Read & Discover Nintendo Kids Club article
I’m torn, if I’m being honest. I can understand the potential argument that those Read & Discover corners should be dedicated their own articles in the same vein other website-specific features, such as activities and games, are covered in different pages. However, do the former really have enough information to sustain themselves? It seems to me that the page you linked to is more or less a just collection of flavour text, and it would not have much of a negative impact to just have that text presented on the Nintendo Kids Club page, especially considering the article’s currently (somewhat) barren state. These are just my two cents, though; I’d suggest asking Doc for his opinion as well. 17:28, September 15, 2021 (EDT)

RE:Back
Indeed it is. For my latest Dr. Mario World uploads, I wasn’t able to secure any archive of their corresponding Facebook posts on archive.today’s .ph domain. I was not aware the .is domain is still available and that it can archive Facebook posts, so I’ll go for that from this point on. Thanks! 08:28, October 16, 2021 (EDT)
:I’m afraid I still can’t archive Facebook posts for some reason—not by using the .is domain, not by removing the “a.” bit in the URL, not with or without the “m” identifier for mobile view. Every time I try, it takes an eternity to load up a snapshot before I’m greeted by a terse “Not found (?)” bold text on a blank page, rendering the process incomplete. Since you were able to make a snapshot of that one Facebook post you showed me, I suspect this entire rigmarole is just an issue on my end. Can you check whether you can save any posts from the official Dr. Mario World Facebook page? (This post, for starters.) 09:21, October 16, 2021 (EDT)
::I know, it seems ridiculous, but I want to have these posts (and, more broadly, the accounts they pertain to) thoroughly backed up and documented. They’re pulling the plug on Dr. Mario World on November 1; what’s telling us they won’t also take down the years of promotional material they’ve posted alongside the game’s development, since it soon won’t be of much relevance? We’re kind of in an urgent pickle, you know :O<br>Note that I won’t do the same for other images that they’ve made a habit of reposting tens of times (such as for the game’s recurring events), since that would really bloat their respective aboutfile; rather, I’m going to add these posts as sources on a page I’ve started working on, “List of virus quotes”. 12:39, October 16, 2021 (EDT)

RE:Game Builder Garage
For cases like these, I would use the dedicated Game Builder Garage section on the List of Mario references in Nintendo video games page instead of giving them their own page. Even if there are official acknowledgements of such projects out there, I don’t reckon they’re enough to sustain an article on their own; couple that with the game not being Mario-centric, I think placing these acknowledgements on the same tier as the other media references and giving them the same type of coverage would ultimately be our most sensible course. 19:33, October 19, 2021 (EDT)
:Ah, interesting pitch! I think it’s a good idea to have such a wiki allot a list-style article to acknowledged projects, as we do with Mario Maker fan stages. Since the wiki’s scope would essentially be one game, maybe give full-fledged articles to each project? Just a hunch—I can see it being a little overkill to grace them with ample coverage on condition they can get even the most passing of mentions from Nintendo’s social media interns. 19:49, October 19, 2021 (EDT)
Re:NMS UK/Aus names
I've also discovered the UK/AU Nintendo Magazine System a little while ago. I think I was trying to look for obscure Super Mario 64 info and just got sucked in for a bit. It's pretty remarkable how little documented it is compared to Nintendo Power. This is just one of the things I've come across. (That reminds me, they also had some wild early previews of Super Mario RPG, which I've been meaning to upload after I get some other projects done.) It's pretty exciting looking through these things and finding new info, and at the same time, slightly disconcerting to me in a "wow, am I the only one to notice this stuff, do they even know what they scanned?" kind of way. I think more have slowly been scanned on Internet Archive since last I checked, so it's something to keep an eye on. I know I've added some Donkey Kong Country info from these magazines, and y'know, it's closer to Rare in a way, so it can't be that far off. I missed the one with the Light Barrels though! I find it weird how the Wayback Machine snapshot shows replies, whereas the tweet’s original page doesn’t display any. Might be an issue on my end. As an aside, I enjoy seeing snapshots of a time when Twitter users had far more palatable reactions than the crap you see now, lol.<br>Anyway, thanks for letting me know of these! The other day, I began creating sections on game articles for any of their official descriptions (similar to the “Profiles and statistics” rubrics we have for various subjects), and I trust we can find some relevant stuff for these sections among Nintendo’s earliest tweets. 14:44, October 24, 2021 (EDT)
:So far, I’ve set up such sections for Wario Land 4, Wario: Master of Disguise, and The Game of Life: Super Mario Edition. ‘Twas an idea that’s come up when Mario’s official British Twitter posted about the former two games, so I think virtually any textual snippet that serves to promote a piece of media is worth putting under wiki spotlight. 15:21, October 24, 2021 (EDT)

It’s material acknowledged by Nintendo, so I think it has its place here on the wiki. Hey, since you recently reuploaded the trailer from DKC3 (GBA), I need to ask you what I did wrong while uploading. You see, before I tried uploading the video, I downloaded it as an mp3, converted it into a standard .ogg file, then uploaded it to this wiki. Could you please explain how to do this properly? 13:46, November 9, 2021 (EST)

I don't think I'm able to do that (I lack the proper tools) but what I do instead is take screenshots directly from an emulator playing games. The problem is the ridiculously slow speed the emulation runs at, which means I can't be bothered to play too much. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C)

Image size vs. quality

Hello, I've noticed that you have been uploading many images which were captured from, as you stated, from YouTube via VideoLAN. The apparent benefit of this is the size, which in most cases is more desirable. However, size cannot match up to quality. Lately, you have been capturing 1000 x 1000px + png images which are of blurry quality, and tagging the good quality jpgs for deletion. Many of the older files are already of very decent quality, and replacing them for huge, but poor quality versions isn't what we encourage here. Additionally, some of your screenshots appeared stretched/squished up from the originals, which may be the nature of the YouTube video which it was captured from. We appreciate your good faith, but it was best to let you know about this. Thanks for your understanding

JPEG to PNG Policy

Keep in mind that a proposal passed a while ago prohibiting direct conversion of a JPEG to PNG, and policy was changed to reflect it. Replacing is different if you are getting the file from a BMP or other source (some imaging programs convert behind-the-scenes). Emulators generate BMPs when they render a scene, which is often saved as a PNG when the screenshot code is triggered. If your Super Mario Sunshine image reuploads are JPEGs directly converted to PNG, please revert your changes. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 21:54, 22 June 2017 (EDT)

I promise that these are BMP-converted images. The HD Guy (talk) 22:25, 22 June 2017 (EDT)
Alright then. It annoys me when people think that PNG means higher quality. Not necessarily. PNG means that all RGB pixel data is preserved, hence why it is referred to as a lossless format. JPEG purposely loses pixel data depending on quality settings, hence why it is referred to as a lossy format. Here's a video that I think other people should see: [1] --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 19:00, 23 June 2017 (EDT)

If you have a .png version of an image you have acquired somewhere, and the version being replaced is a .jpg, you'll need to upload it as a whole new file. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 11:44, 29 July 2018 (EDT)

Well i'm converting psd's from this MKDD press kit from assemblergames to png. not jpg->png. The HD Guy (talk) 12:50, 29 July 2018 (EDT)
That's what I hoped you were doing. I was responding to your comment on the group art. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 12:51, 29 July 2018 (EDT)
doesn't feel right to revert from png to jpg though. But anyway, the large MKDD group art -- that was psd -> jpg The HD Guy (talk) 12:52, 29 July 2018 (EDT)
Could you not have gone .psd->.png? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 12:54, 29 July 2018 (EDT)
No because the output was 25MB. The HD Guy (talk) 12:56, 29 July 2018 (EDT)
Ahhhh.....also, please remember to not use the word "beta" unless it is specifically confirmed to come from a beta build, as that's a specific time in development, not all of development. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 12:59, 29 July 2018 (EDT)
Ok, and yeah i like the term "pre-release" or "early" more as well. The HD Guy (talk) 14:13, 29 July 2018 (EDT)

Hey

Just wanted to let you know I found this message you wrote to Doc to be slightly condescending. I understand the frustration that comes from having edits reversed, but still, you might want to take it down one notch. rollerC (talk) 16:25, 2 August 2018 (EDT)

That's why i'm trying to prevent drama. I just don't like when people act like admins when they really are not. The HD Guy (talk) 16:28, 2 August 2018 (EDT)
Yeeeeeah, about that, on here, the powers granted to admins basically amount to being able to block people and delete stuff. Anyways, aboutfile descriptions are intended to be concise, and don't need to be in full grammatical sentences, as those can end up a little obfuscative. Anyways, if you're going to refer to someone's "behavior towards other users," don't do it as rudely as possible. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:32, 2 August 2018 (EDT)
Doc was trying to help make the description clearer, alongside tagging it with the right template. There was no need to say something like that, but do be careful that an edit war doesn't happen. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:35, 2 August 2018 (EDT)
(Admins can also edit guideline pages, forgot that.) Anyways, Alex reverted the description back to mine, but then was edited back to basically what it was originally before any of this by a conflagrative infant friend of mine. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk)
Was that last bit really necessary? rollerC (talk) 16:43, 2 August 2018 (EDT)

Sure. That sounds like a good idea. The HD Guy (talk) 16:31, 3 August 2018 (EDT)

Image Uploads

Over the course of my editing, I have been an avid pusher of having images meet certain standards. When I first started that page, I was hoping to get it to be a policy or help page. Now, the project is dormant with progress, but I still reference it from time to time for users that upload screenshots that could be done better. If my comments seem to suggest to delete your uploads, as you thought on Alex95 (talk)'s talk page, it's more of a concern that uploads meet certain quality minimums instead of playing it fast and loose, which I have seen with much older uploads with my casual browsing. Pre-release and unused content is trickier to judge compared to full releases. Generally, I don't touch any of it for any reason. There have been some cases where I uploaded better than what we had, like File:Mpaint.jpg or E3 2007 images in List of Super Mario Galaxy pre-release and unused content. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 23:42, 3 August 2018 (EDT)

Okay, well i could tell you're an avid pusher. In fact, have you seen my edits? I'm quite avid at it as well--i dug through like every press kit yesterday and this morning to upload the remaining of what you have not from the press kits. idk i just misrepresented your statement. i thought you implied you'd want that one deleted. and i agree with how it's harder to tell with pre-release, especially because press kits have convertible images to PNG format. Really, in short, thanks for being into high-res images. The HD Guy (talk) 23:53, 3 August 2018 (EDT)
I have seen people upload images larger than a console can produce. This is common with 3D games because we can upscale in emulation without causing pixilation (textures on 3D surfaces get blurry and fuzzy though). N64 game screenshot uploads have this issue with Super Mario Wiki editors in general because 640x480 is the default resolution on certain emulators by default and those editors believe this is what the N64 truly does. I found out this is mostly wrong, because a plug-in by angrylion is known to produce near-pixel-accurate screenshots. My guide has details about what happens with each plug-in. Rarely do games produce 640x480, well, it's more 640x474 for whatever reason. 320x240 is what the N64 can produce, and that is wrong again because 320x237 is what angrylion does in those instances. Not sure why 3/6 pixels are being omitted. Some games can change resolution dynamically too, so it's never one resolution constantly during play! Examples:
GameCube and Wii are a different story. I have noticed some games don't utilize the full 640x480 resolution, like Super Mario Sunshine, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, and Mario Kart: Double Dash!!. List here. Forcing 640x480 on such games yields slight blur. I used to do super upscaled uploads reaching beyond 720p (1600x900 at most), but I don't do that anymore because I found a minimalistic alternative which has the right balance between big enough, least blur/pixilation, and minimum impact on storage requirements.
What I am trying to say is, I won't do high resolution with those games. I will do minimum. That may mean putting some N64 uploads at 320x237 or GameCube/Wii games at around 640x480. No higher. Widescreen is a challenge though because it is faked. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 13:21, 5 August 2018 (EDT)
I see, i'll keep that in mind for next time The HD Guy (talk) 13:50, 5 August 2018 (EDT)

If you can, try to use the angrylion plug-in for Project64. Follow my recommended settings. They often produce accurate screenshots. So little chance for emulator glitches or anything easily overlooked when screenshooting. TCRF recommends it too, but they are a little dated with how to take screenshots. Mine is more up-to-date. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 23:11, 18 August 2018 (EDT)

Goosespeeder, my computer lagged like crazy when i tried to run that graphics plugin. I've been trying Glide64 at 240p as second best option? The HD Guy (talk) 23:12, 18 August 2018 (EDT)
Didn't realize your computer wasn't powerful enough to handle angrylion. To be fair, I often run across lag too on my laptop (see my profile). Varies by game and by what is trying to be rendered at the time. There is a difference between GLideN64 and Glide64. The first is newer while the other is older, deprecated, and not by the same author. Most people who want to find that happy middleground between accuracy and speed is GLideN64. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 23:25, 18 August 2018 (EDT)
This only confuses matters with N64 screen capture accuracy. GL and Glide64..I really don't see that much problem with the 240p screenshots. Maybe it's not 100% accurate but it looks close. The HD Guy (talk)
Both plug-ins can generate 240p screenshots. GLideN64 is more up-to-date. That's the difference. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 23:35, 18 August 2018 (EDT)

A suggestion

Hey, good job with the current crop of high-quality press artwork! I try not to make requests of people unless asked to, but I was just curious if it would be possible to find some higher-quality art for Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, as much of our current art for it is in very variable conditions, with most of them being rather cruddy, while others I have suspicions might be fan edits. Not sure if there's a good place to find full, good artwork for it, but I'm sure you'd be able to figure it out. If you want to, of course :). Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:22, 5 August 2018 (EDT)

I'll see what I can do. Thank you for complimenting. Also sorry about the edit war the other day. :) The HD Guy (talk) 15:23, 5 August 2018 (EDT)
All well and good, thanks for understanding. I'm honestly just glad to find a person who understands the "source" line in the aboutfile template. It's surprising how many people will just put a game's name for an old artwork, when it clearly did not come from the game itself. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:25, 5 August 2018 (EDT)
I know, right? The game name belongs in the 1= field. It's annoying, I agree. The HD Guy (talk) 15:26, 5 August 2018 (EDT)
And very unhelpful if something needs a re-scan. Particularly when it's a game that's been remade several times, with each potentially having several sets of official guidebooks to look through. I only recently realized that a lot of the artwork this site attributed to Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is actually retouched artwork made for Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, with the actual SMW2 artwork typically being noticeably more flat. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:34, 5 August 2018 (EDT)
Yeah i made that mistake with the Boolossus art for Luigi's Mansion 3DS. Did you see? Apparently he's got teeth now. The HD Guy (talk) 15:36, 5 August 2018 (EDT)
I actually hadn't figured out the difference beyond the resolution and glow color at the time, but I was a bit tired then. I'm pretty sure I was the person who noted that that was the only real change on the box art beyond the layout changes made due to spacing differences....anyways, I personally want to get some more pages of the newer Encyclopedia, as it has some retouched artwork. I cropped out some from the Lost Levels section (while making sure to avoid white dots), but then had too much college work to continue, never uploaded any, and haven't resumed that since. I had wanted to get all that done and show it on the forums to see if it would be all right to upload, but never got around to that either. I have located good-quality art for Super Mario USA, from which most Super Mario Advance artwork is derived, but haven't actually uploaded them to the site yet. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:46, 5 August 2018 (EDT)

DKC3 gallery

Until a few months ago, the DKC2 gallery was in much the same situation as the DKC3 one currently is; its current state is the fruit of a large amount of hours one night by yours truly. As for why I haven't done this with the DKC3 gallery, I got busy with college finals and ended up not getting around to it. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:46, 9 August 2018 (EDT)

Understandable. On the contrary, i have a lot of free time at the moment, so it's beneficial to put that toward the wiki, especially at a time of a DK and Mario Wiki merger. The HD Guy (talk) 19:48, 9 August 2018 (EDT)

Merging pages

Regarding what you did with Baffle's page, you're supposed to make a proposal before doing things like that. Please split them again for now, so as to follow within the proposal system rules. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:17, 12 August 2018 (EDT)

Nobody reverted me or complained when i did that, and the articles are esentially duplicated. would you like to start the proposal The HD Guy (talk) 23:18, 12 August 2018 (EDT)

Plungelo

The "alternate" art of the Plungelo you uploaded is the same as the original one, just at a better resolution and rotated properly. (Thanks for the Monty Mole pic replacement, among others!) Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:13, 14 August 2018 (EDT)

You're welcome. I thought it was the same one. thanks for pointing that out as well. The HD Guy (talk) 20:16, 14 August 2018 (EDT)

Reuploading sprites

Why are you uploading the exact same sprites you already have under the previous name, when all that does is get rid of the history? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:24, 26 August 2018 (EDT)

Basically it's because i wanted to rename some files (like MilkSlippa.PNG), but there's a 9 capital letter limit when renaming files. when i communicated to flamechomp and alex on discord, i think they said it's ok The HD Guy (talk) 00:26, 26 August 2018 (EDT)
Huh, I've never ran into that problem. Is the extension counted in that? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:28, 26 August 2018 (EDT)
It is, yeah--the PNG extension. You can't rename it either. I originally planned to add SNES in the titles but decided to leave it out from sprites of the original DKC. This makes it less likely to hit the limit but i think a lowercase extension is often preferred. I also have been trying to resource from Spriters Resource when ripping/uploading these sprites.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by The HD Guy (talk).
Most of the DKC series rips on TSR are fairly old (they factored into their wallpaper many years back), so it's not unlikely the original uploads (~2010) came from there initially. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:34, 26 August 2018 (EDT)
They did. Sometimes I like to re-rip in case i think a pose could be improved or something like that. Make sense? or flip the images to the common in-game orientation. The HD Guy (talk) 00:37, 26 August 2018 (EDT)

I'm not sure why it doesn't work on your end, but moving capitalised "PNG" files seems to work fine for me. If you'd like, you can upload any modified versions of the original file as newer versions of that file and tag them with move so it can be moved instead of deleted with the original upload history intact. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 23:51, 1 September 2018 (EDT)

I probably thought that it would be recognized by the wiki as a different extension. Results May Vary (talk) 23:58, 1 September 2018 (EDT)

Kracka

I saw a Kracka sprite get deleted in the log, and just wanted to point out that we still need the unused SNES version so as to not clash between styles in the tables. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:24, 26 August 2018 (EDT)

I'm pretty sure that was the GBA version? If you want try upload a static photo on Kracka's page. Kracka goes unused in the SNES version anyway. The HD Guy (talk) 23:25, 26 August 2018 (EDT)
I know, but still, it's best we have all styles, and the sprites exist. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:27, 26 August 2018 (EDT)
which filename was the SNES variant? The HD Guy (talk) 23:28, 26 August 2018 (EDT)
I don't know if we had it. I think we still need it. It's on TCRF, at the very least. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:49, 26 August 2018 (EDT)
let me sort this out The HD Guy (talk) 23:49, 26 August 2018 (EDT)

Transparency on File:Koopa_SM3DL.png

Why you wanted the August 18, 2018 revision of the file to be deleted? Syncro263892XL (talk) 21:42, 27 August 2018 (EDT)

If it's unofficial and done by a fan, mario wiki apparently does not support such images on the server. The HD Guy (talk) 21:51, 27 August 2018 (EDT)
Typically we save deletions for repeated files, like repetitive reversions, last I checked. If there's a lot of bad revisions, then they're all deleted, but fan-made transparency in general isn't worth a revision-deletion. Again, last I checked. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:32, 27 August 2018 (EDT)
Pretty much what Doc said. No need to delete a revision simply because it is fan made. A new revision should take its place, if one hasn't already. I mean I deleted all the revisions anyway, but whatever. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 23:48, 27 August 2018 (EDT)

Normal Toady sprite.

Hey, i've uploaded a Toady picture. I couldn't add transparency, since in the software i downloaded LazPaint, if you remove the transparency, and then save the file, the black will be gone, this is why i didn't use this. Note: the black doesn't go unless you save the file (doesn't count on other shades such as gray). What software do you use to add transparency? And the normal Toady sprite should be reuploaded. --FanOfYoshi (talk) 02:53, 1 September 2018 (EDT)

You can try GIMP--that's what i use for sprite transparency. And then throw into Wildgoosespeeder's PNG Monstrous to losslessly compress the filesize The HD Guy (talk) 02:54, 1 September 2018 (EDT)
TBH, i tried to use GIMP, and it's hard to use to me! See those reupload you've done? Well, these are transparency. Here's the file: A Toady sprite from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island --FanOfYoshi (talk) 02:56, 1 September 2018 (EDT)

that's why it's lying in the To be Deleted category The HD Guy (talk) 03:10, 1 September 2018 (EDT)

RE: Image links

That doesn't mean they should be left alone. It's important they're fixed as soon as they're moved. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 01:59, 5 September 2018 (EDT)

Also, make sure all of the pages that link to a file are fixed to use the new file name, as there may be pages other than just the gallery pages that link to it. They're found under "File usage" on the file page. I understand you like to work fast, but please remember to take a quick check that the image is correctly displayed before leaving it as well after renaming it. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 07:08, 5 September 2018 (EDT)

Yeah, I do work fast. I've tried to check file usage--it's harder to check the links to a deleted filename. Alex had to leave early I believe so he deleted some before I was done. Results May Vary (talk) 09:32, 5 September 2018 (EDT)

I heard they will merge the DK Wiki with this wiki

Pdjr9000 has an account on both this wiki and the DK wiki, but he hasn't been active on DK Wiki and was permabanned here a long time ago. How will users like him who are banned in one wiki but not banned in the other move or edit? Do they just lose their abilities to edit?

R.O.B.Remembered Old BuddyROBSSB4EN.png 19:49, 13 September 2018 (EDT)

They were already banned from one wiki a long time ago. Do they not move at all?

R.O.B.Remembered Old BuddyROBSSB4EN.png

I don't understand what you are trying to tell me. If the user is banned on a wiki, they are banned on that wiki. I'm pretty sure ban logs don't carry over from DK Wiki and Mario Wiki merging--unless they come back and decide to vandalize here again. I'm an admin on DK Wiki but not Mario Wiki, so this is probably more of a Mario jc or Alex95 question. Results May Vary (talk) 20:04, 13 September 2018 (EDT)

RE: Redirects

Appreciate the effort. Though I wouldn't worry too much about moving file names if the current ones describe the images well enough. I get you're trying to keep them uniform, but if the names already accurately describe what they show, that's all we need. Everyone has their own way of naming files when uploading, and as the countless other files on the wiki show, there's no set naming convention. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 07:11, 17 September 2018 (EDT)

Yeah, Alex95 told me that too. It does seem a bit of a control-freak to move all the filenames Results May Vary (talk) 09:54, 17 September 2018 (EDT)

Would it be possible to get the King Boo and Bowser suit platinum frame as a big image? DryBowzillaJP (talk) 19:58, 29 October 2018 (EDT)

Yep, I just added them for you in Gallery:King Boo. Thanks for reminding me--gotta have those out by Halloween time Results May Vary (talk) 20:05, 29 October 2018 (EDT)

Bigger Ghost Gallery images

You're welcome. Could the rest be bigger too? DryBowzillaJP (talk) 16:32, 30 October 2018 (EDT)

No this is as large as the textures can get. Bowser and King Boo's portrait is 2x as large as the other portraits, so it makes sense it's larger. I added a few more large portraits in the LM3DS screenshots. Results May Vary (talk) 16:49, 30 October 2018 (EDT)

DKC item info

I have also discussed this with Scrooge200 (talk). -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE 20:29, 7 November 2018 (EST)

I know it's not as sought after but it does still count as a fact. Results May Vary (talk) 20:32, 7 November 2018 (EST)
Alright, fair enough. -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE 06:26, 8 November 2018 (EST)

Banana count

Should I also count the bananas on the End of Level Target roulette? Right now, I count the ones in bonus rooms and warp rooms, but I'm not sure about the goal ones. I think some levels have two amounts of bananas on the goal roulette. So, do those count? Do I put something like "11 bananas are on the End of Level Target"? Or do I just add them to the total? Scrooge200 (talk) 17:55, 9 November 2018 (EST)

I wouldn't add them to the total. What I do is say "prizes from the End of Level Target include banana, banana bunch coin, etc." at the very end of the level layout section. Don't add them to the total. Results May Vary (talk) 18:38, 9 November 2018 (EST)
Okay, thank you! Scrooge200 (talk) 18:41, 9 November 2018 (EST)
No problem, thanks so much for helping out.

I mean why not? It doesn't have to be this complicated--that we debate over whether or not it's a good idea. I've already explained that none of us are obligated to add the total count (based on the map at dkcatlas.com/maps/), let alone any level info at all. I've explained why I think it's a good idea to add them. Maybe the reader can use that count to calculate how many extra lives it's possible to get from the level. It's useful to have contacts to talk with. Basically, it was sold on Amazon Japan, and Forest of Illusion helped me by telling of someone he knew in Japan. I pitched in 120 dollars, and he did the rest. About 2 days later, the thing arrived and it was dumped online for all (including you) to enjoy. As for press assets, I just know someone who collects press assets, and has helped me with that (PidgiNet also has a wiki with a collection of it and the artwork). "dont like how my dkcr extras edit was reverted though"

-- -- KOOPA CON CARNE 18:11, 10 February 2019 (EST)

It's extra code used though, and it doesnt seem necessary? Results May Vary (talk) 18:13, 10 February 2019 (EST)
If it has a reason for being "extra", it's not extra. -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE 18:14, 10 February 2019 (EST)
Thanks for the Scrapbook page, i like it. Looks nicer. How is the dkcr extras one? i know i just like the donkey kong colors used between pages, rather than light blue, gray, and orange links. Results May Vary (talk) 18:51, 10 February 2019 (EST)
It looks good now. The original color palette of blue and gray was used to reflect the predominant colors in the game's own Extras menu, but standardizing the table is no problem and I like how it turned out in the end. Thank you! Keep up the good work. -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE 18:57, 10 February 2019 (EST)

The word "remake"

Please take a look here. While I'm not very picky about it, some users are, so be careful. Always best to strive for accuracy anyways. And yes, I know that it's not a straight up enhanced port, as Rare needed to rip the graphics from emulators, but calling it a "remake" isn't the most accurate term either. Re:Starting Wiki

I'd prefer to wait to tackle what would be an objectively larger challenge just due to how awfully-written the current CB wikia is in comparison to Zeldawiki sourcing and grouping badly. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:56, 7 March 2019 (EST)

Zeldapedia: Wikia, lists different game iterations of bosses in different articles.
Zeldawiki: Kisses up to Dark Horse's translations even though it's clear that's foolhardy, and insists on misusing "canon" to include what they want to call articles.
Zelda Dungeon: Fanart haven.
Anyways, I consider these three to be beyond repair at this point. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:02, 7 March 2019 (EST)
I don't know, this certainly won't be a near future thing given my current workload. I'm hoping to replace the current NIWA Zeldawiki, though, given their demonstrated incompetence. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:25, 7 March 2019 (EST)
They moved into gamepedia within 2 years ago, iirc. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:50, 7 March 2019 (EST)
It's not out of spite. <_> They were once pretty good, they've just gotten entrenched in a flawed manner of sourcing and splitting (which isn't even consistent) and I think it's gone past the event horizon on whether it's worth attempting to fix it directly. You know the situation with the English Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia? Multiply that by two or three, and have the wiki accept it as gospel truth over the games' own instruction manuals and in some cases the games themselves (with the sole exception of if one mohawked crocidilian enemy is identified as another on two separate pages, they call that a mistake). That's what we're talking about here. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:55, 7 March 2019 (EST)
Yeah I know, that's why I sent that link to LTL a few days ago. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:46, 9 March 2019 (EST)
It could work, potentially, though a few of the already-existing elements seem a little unnecessary. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:50, 9 March 2019 (EST)
Mah boi, the alternate "timeline" differentiation (ie the kind visible on the Stalfos page) is not what this true warrior strives for. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:54, 9 March 2019 (EST)
I see. There's a word I want to say, but it would be deemed frightfully vulgar in a grand majority of company. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:57, March 12, 2019 (EDT)

I've just been busy is all. I was also waiting for the Oracle sprites to be re-re-ripped on TSR with proper palettes. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:53, April 30, 2019 (EDT)
There probably was, but I can't remember. I want to avoid the false conflation and separation a lot of the English translations gave (Link to the Past comes to mind), which is a pitfall the NIWA ZeldaWiki fell into majorly, and the others didn't do much better on. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:44, April 30, 2019 (EDT)
For the record, I am very much interested in this independent wiki; however, I can only have room to keep track of one wiki in the immediate future. I do plan on helping around sooner or later. LinkTheLefty (talk) 00:29, May 12, 2019 (EDT)
I think it has the potential to lead somewhere great! Just a head's up - whenever I'm "in the zone" on something (either on or off wiki), I tend to put off messages if they're not urgent. LinkTheLefty (talk) 00:41, May 12, 2019 (EDT)

Nintendo Europe Art Stuff (Mario related, of course)

--M. C. - Profile | Talk Page 09:46, March 17, 2019 (EDT)

I will see if there is anything regarding those two games. Thank you Results May Vary (talk) 11:04, March 17, 2019 (EDT)
Yeah, but what I meant is in terms of the character art material stuff themselves regarding Mario Tennis Aces. We hoped that the rest of the character/promo art assets would have surfaced before the game's actual release; but still no breakthroughs on that end. I'm still waiting for us to get our hands on specified ones which haven't had their high resolution "source versions" surface yet to this day. --M. C. - Profile | Talk Page 15:08, March 17, 2019 (EDT)
I know this may be a "personal case", but I (and certain others) were hoping that these pictures would have surfaced in their original "source versions" before resizing on websites. Specifically this picture, this picture, this picture, and especially this picture. To this day, the press sites/assets libraries in relation to Nintendo (any region) still don't have them added for us to have, if I'm not mistaken. --M. C. - Profile | Talk Page 15:16, March 17, 2019 (EDT)
Beats me, but is my assumption right that the respective areas still don't have said MTA promo arts that I have listed above added on their end? --M. C. - Profile | Talk Page 15:21, March 17, 2019 (EDT)
Ugh, that's sick; still can't give up though. Hopefully we'll get them eventually, especially those said MTA promo arts that I and others are still waiting on. Also, regarding what you got from said area regarding Super Mario Party, any luck on others related to that main visual? I see we got Toadette; just patiently waiting in regards to the ones involving Peach, Rosalina, and Daisy there. --M. C. - Profile | Talk Page 21:26, March 17, 2019 (EDT)
By the way, do you have an actual account on this wiki's related forums or even an account on the Discord itself? There are still some things that are still on topic, but can't be discussed on the "public side" like our talkpages. I'm wondering what's taking all of the Nintendo branches so long to let us have it from the press media end...? --M. C. - Profile | Talk Page 22:17, April 6, 2019 (EDT)
Don't you mean 1-Up World (the Discord server there)...? I'll have to check into it further when I'm done here (if not tonight, then possibly during the course of tomorrow). --M. C. - Profile | Talk Page 23:40, April 6, 2019 (EDT)

Pretty good so far! :D
One thing I actually do like how NIWA Zeldawiki handles things are how they do enemy galleries. At the same time, I despise how they handle main image galleries for games, so I suppose that's a bit of a trade-off. Probably should do that more like what's done here. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:16, May 1, 2019 (EDT)
Probably because for some games they get to be in ludicrously large amounts of variety, so probably to help with slowdown because they can't lessen the amount of ads to something more reasonable it seems (which is probably what ended up constantly BSoDing the Windows Vista I used in the last years I used it whenever I went to the site). Jungle Hijinxs

Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 14:54, June 13, 2019 (EDT)

The thing is: I'm fed up with my DK Wiki merging attempts being tampered with. I have been having to clean up after improper merges for months and months without end. Hours of my effort would go into cleaning up some improper merges. This is why I'm seriously considering a personal read-only DK Wiki in the future. Results May Vary (talk) 14:59, June 13, 2019 (EDT)
What do you mean "tampered with"? In what way was my change "messing up the whole article", when I was just trying to figure out a format idea? If you didn't like it, that's fine. But these charts are being used in various ways across the level articles and I'm trying to find a good solid format for them. Do you have a different idea for fixing this? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 15:02, June 13, 2019 (EDT)
No, just go ahead and change the article how you see fit. I'm just a user who loves his DK so much, so I get protective over my childhood hero. Results May Vary (talk) 15:06, June 13, 2019 (EDT)
...This is supposed to be a community effort. Alongside making sure information isn't missed, it also needs to be formatted correctly. We were originally going with the standard lists, like DKWiki uses. But then you and I think Retro Gamer brought up the DK table chart and I really like how those look. The Bonus Area uses images, why not the K-O-N-G Letters? The way you formatted the page afterward looks good to me otherwise.
I get being protective over your favorite franchise, but this is a wiki. We're supposed to work together. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 15:12, June 13, 2019 (EDT)

How does this look to you? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 20:56, June 13, 2019 (EDT)

I suppose it looks fine. personally i'd prefer if there were consistent screenshots between the versions, as the only non-snes screenshot is of the letter N. It would be best if it were GBA images really, as those are what's required. i guess for dkc2/dkc3, either/or can go, as they're not required in either title. Also, the letter G was collected in that letter G screenshot. Long story short, this is just what i had in mind mostly, thank you! :) Results May Vary (talk) 21:50, June 13, 2019 (EDT)
Yeah, there wasn't a better image of the N or G Letters. I would like consistent screenshots as well, but sometimes that doesn't happen ^^; (and I don't have a way to make it happen.) They can always be updated later if need be. For DKC2/3, I think screenshots can still be used, as they are still collectables to show the locations of. But we'll cross that bridge later. If you're fine with this, I'll make the adjustments tomorrow :) Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 00:07, June 14, 2019 (EDT)

It might not be necessary right now unless someone starts changing the dates to match Wikipedia again, at which point I think it would be safe to more visibly upload it for the record. Out of curiosity, are there any other things of note in the E3 press binder (not necessarily Mario-related)? LinkTheLefty (talk) 16:59, July 25, 2019 (EDT)
Neat! Most documents seem to be prepared press release statements, but I noticed two things which happen to be potentially wiki-related: this refers to Virtual Boy Wario Land as Wario Land, and that refers to the Nintendo 64DD as the "Nintendo 64 64DD" which, while repetitive and may be early info, is seen right on the logo. Re:Link's Awakening Names

Nice find! Though it should be noted that the website refers to her as "the Mini Bow-Wow" and then "the fashion-conscious Mini Bow-Wow," so it could be that the writer considers both smaller BowWows to be Mini Bow-Wows in a general sense rather than it being her name specifically. Could ask Doc for a second opinion if it should be considered CiaoCiao's name or her species. By the way, I'm a little confused about the situation myself, but I'll probably ask at the wiki later. Galleries

From my general understanding, the format of a gallery should be sequential in the following order: Logos-Artwork (Protagonist-Bosses-Supporting-Enemy)-Game Sprites-Data Sprites-Screenshots-Box Art-Miscellaneous. I have seen multiple examples that I cannot think of immediately where this is not the case, but I do not think there is a hard rule in place about it. Probably worth discussing somewhere. RE:Response to Results May Vary

(Continued from Trig Jegman's talk page)

Alright, enough of that.
If the new file name describes the image better, then there's nothing wrong with file name and moving it back to the original name just because you're the original uploader is just petty.
To Trig, yes, the file renames do tend to pile up and cause more work than is necessary, but I honestly have no problem with that. You can't delete anything yourself, so it's up to the admin to take care of it. We wouldn't have accepted this role if it didn't mean we were up for the maintenance. We just get around to it when we have the time to do so, or take care of it little by little.
Removing unnecessary punctuation, such as dashes that are used in place of spaces (that never made sense to me) or interfile periods, are perfectly fine.
Debating some kind of warning here, but for now, I don't want to see this problem again, but if there is something you feel is wrong, you talk it out before moving the file back, alright? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 00:28, December 22, 2019 (EST)

"It doesn't matter if it's Game-Object-Type, or Type-Game-Object, or Object-Type-Game.
I see your problem with the NSMBW file, all it did was remove the "ii" part of "Wii" and move the abbreviation to the start. It didn't effect anything. For the City Tripper file, as I said, the hyphens in place of spaces never made sense to me, so I have no problem with them getting removed; them getting removed also coordinates with our image use policy. This is something the message above clarifies.
"Don't be a hypocrite and blame me for your own actions." "Oh, so why are you calling me childish?" You've been told off for these remarks before. Both of you are having issues, you don't need to add fuel to the fire, even if you feel the need to retaliate. I don't mean never stand up for yourself, but being rude about it is not the way to go handle it. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 00:45, December 22, 2019 (EST)
It's ok if the hyphens were removed, I just feel alarmed that he switched the order of images, e.g.
As for the remarks, yeah they were rude. What would you have done in this situation? because i just wanted to be direct about it Results May Vary (talk) 00:51, December 22, 2019 (EST)
The file rename doesn't need to be focused on just one fix, he can change the order as long as that's not the only thing he's doing. Completely up to him, the file's getting moved and links are getting fixed, anyway.
I would've ignored them, or rebutted them in a professional manner, like "Maybe you think that about me, but this is my reasoning as to why I did this." Work more on finding a compromise or explaining why you did/think something than proving your point, but if you're ultimately shown to be in the wrong, you're in the wrong; that goes for both parties. Re:Balloons

What do you suppose? LinkTheLefty (talk) 15:26, January 23, 2020 (EST)

There is that unused green balloon that at least indicates to me that the developers were conscious of the original three colors, and only the red version kept its original purpose in games afterwards. LinkTheLefty (talk) 15:44, January 23, 2020 (EST)
I guess. I don't really feel too strongly about it, so if you think that'd be the best way to present the information, that's fine. Maybe just add a note mentioning that they're colored similarly to main series balloons for now. LinkTheLefty (talk) 16:15, January 23, 2020 (EST)

amiibo Renders

That said, I am semi-active on WiKirby as AdieuLain (a pun of Adeleine and Serial Experiments Lain because why not) so if you have any Kirby-related questions you can feel free to ask me there.

Funny enough, I asked the same question one time. I remember it was pointed out odd that, in contrast to the Wikia's belief that the newer aesthetics are Square Enix's "current vision", spinoffs like Dissidia and mobile games more often than not refer to the original sprite and title designs, and the characters in several mobile games use a distinct graphical style that can only be called "original Final Fantasy VI" as opposed to the version actually on the platform. Also, I greatly appreciate it, but there's no need to thank me...if there's anyone to thank, thank the architects of this wiki's naming policy! LinkTheLefty (talk) 18:25, April 16, 2020 (EDT)
I hadn't noticed the Mario Kart 8 replacements, though if I'm not mistaken, the Switch version is visually the same except displayed at a higher resolution, which is a different situation.
Something I'd add is that the Chancellor only existed as of the WonderSwan remake (and was unnamed until Game Boy Advance), and the NPC was fixed by either making her visible in the MSX version or removing her entirely in the WonderSwan version. Other than that, seems fine! LinkTheLefty (talk) 17:41, April 26, 2020 (EDT)
Happy Anniversary! By the way, I'm still waiting for Hyrule Graphics and Hyrule Encyclopedia - I hope they didn't get lost in the mail, or intercepted by Wikia Yigas, or something. LinkTheLefty (talk) 16:35, April 30, 2020 (EDT)
Interesting developments! Those Nintendo Power VHS tapes are insane. The Star Fox one encompasses the vibe and energy of the 1990s in the best, worst way possible. Then there's the Diddy Kong Racing one... it's such a fever dream. I don't miss the 1990s, I wouldn't have mentally survived if I had been a conscious adult. Little Mouser.PNGPaper Jorge (Talk·Contribs)
I'm '96 so not far off. The 90s and 2000s were the wild, wild west for the internet. No big corporations, just a vast library of poorly coded websites with no moderation, and tons of fan websites ran by teenagers. There's a charm to it, I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it, but...it wasn't a very productive way to spend my childhood on Mario fan sites.
I should beat Yooka-Laylee some year, I kind of lost interest in it. My attention span just may be too far gone for collectible platforming. The sequel is probably more up my alley. Little Mouser.PNGPaper Jorge (Talk·Contribs)
Krunch is my inspiration, my muse, my goal, and what keeps me waking up every day in life. I have thoroughly ravaged through the depths of the internet for all information regarding him, in preparation for his inevitable return as the main villain in Donkey Kong Country: Island Heatwave. Little Mouser.PNGPaper Jorge (Talk·Contribs)
The older I get, the less time I have for games. But I did play a lot of shooter games in my teen years, mostly on Steam and Xbox Live. Dedicated half my life to Garry's Mod, and Halo, Fallout, Call of Duty ... but like I said, my attention span and interest for games is diminishing by the years. Aging sucks.
Love meeting a fellow Rare fan. Funny, I swear, I made a B-K Wiki too, in 2009. The original domain was banjokazooiewiki.net (the Internet Archive lazily archived it here). Just a timeline of bad decisions that could have led to something much bigger if 13 year old me had any clue what he was doing. Little Mouser.PNGPaper Jorge (Talk·Contribs)
Probably. I'll take the blame for that. I hate that B-K "FANDOM" Wikia with a passion. Little Mouser.PNGPaper Jorge (Talk·Contribs)
Been microwaved off my computer ever since. Actually, I don't even have the original computer/hard drives it was on, that one was tossed. Would've definitely been cool to have, but alas, just funny reminiscing now. Little Mouser.PNGPaper Jorge (Talk·Contribs)
It's amazing how those Wikias are still around. From the very start, they've had no level of quality, and the Wiki format is insanely confusing and needlessly complex. It makes it impossible to learn Wiki syntax, and even harder to implement it. To this day, they're sloppily written, despite having been around for over 10 years. What gives? Would be nice to see a change of pace. Very happy to have been part of the Mario Wiki, which is a golden standard for what a subject-focused wiki should be. Oh yeah, PidgiNet was my second home. I should get back into the game, I loved trawling through the press sites. At the moment I'm collaborating with somebody to gather 64-era renders, as well as miscellaneous scans/illustrations yet to be covered.

You're very welcome- it's touching to know how a casual comment can have such a nice effect! In all honestly I have seen traces of staff discussions about what ever happened in the past throughout NIWA, and I wasn't active during any of it. So as far as it concerns me looking from a clean slate, the credit for all the work you've done is due. Thank you.

'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 15:47, October 5, 2020 (EDT)

Just wanted to let you know that I'd prolly be just as adamant with imposing Mario Wiki standards upon other NIWA wikis as you are. Even with this wiki's fair share of flaws, most of those within NIWA just don't seem to have as many guidelines. I hate browsing Bulbapedia for example, its articles are way too crowded and messy. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 16:12, October 5, 2020 (EDT)

I do have a Discord account, but as far as the Mario Wiki and Mario Boards are concerned, I'm not keen on showing any of my presence on outside platforms. I also don't feel like I have anything significant to say regarding the quality of other NIWA wikis beyond what I stated. Though, I suppose I should say that I have already noticed WiKirby's similarity to MarioWiki's and that your and other users' efforts are commendable. The Tiforce Wiki also shapes up to be a great alternative to the Zelda Gamepedia, so keep up the good work! -- KOOPA CON CARNE 17:27, October 5, 2020 (EDT)
Thank you! I did consider joining other wikis to add Play Nintendo content. As a matter of fact, I wanted to ask a Triforce admin such as you or Doc von Schmeltwick if you consider such content acceptable there, but I hesitated making an account for some reason. So, uhh, can I join sometime for that? -- KOOPA CON CARNE 18:14, October 5, 2020 (EDT)
EDIT: Just noticed you have taken care of a lot that's there about Play Nintendo, but I may be able to contribute some more. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 18:17, October 5, 2020 (EDT)
Great, I'll do it after I'm done with my personal checklist for this wiki. (Mario Kart Tour, Play Nintendo stuff, etc.) Thanks! :D -- KOOPA CON CARNE 18:21, October 5, 2020 (EDT)

Regarding the Smash proposal

Just so you know, the option you're voting for will still heavily cut the lists of trophies, stickers, and spirits. The only non-Mario items that would be retained on those lists are the ones for fighters, and if I'm reading Doomhiker's statements correctly, won't be effective retroactively. Little Mac's Brawl trophy would still be removed because he didn't become a fighter until Smash 4, for example. It's a very "all or nothing" proposal so there's no options that would only affect some of the listed articles. I just thought I'd let you know since your vote reasons and edit summary don't seem in line with the option you chose. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad!

-- KOOPA CON CARNE 20:02, August 21, 2021 (EDT)

Yeah, it's implemented well (and it's a sick poster if I've ever seen one). I would archive the web page it originates from (using Wayback Machine, for instance) and add a link to it next to the original Facebook source in the picture's aboutfile template; this is to ensure we still have a way to verify it's an official piece in case the Facebook post is deleted or Facebook itself is wiped out, as I believe it's the type of content that could raise an eyebrow or two on its authenticity. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 20:37, August 21, 2021 (EDT)
I believe this one, too, is placed well--it isn't specific enough to mingle well with pictures in above sections, hence it's a miscellaneous picture--and I find it commendable that you also integrated a context in its caption. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 20:56, August 21, 2021 (EDT)
Depends. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 21:09, August 21, 2021 (EDT)
Please do! I think you're doing a good job so far uploading and organising content. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 21:18, August 21, 2021 (EDT)
Aye, Category:Facebook Images is good to go, and if a picture has origins on multiple websites, it should be categorised by those accordingly; this was a proviso in the original proposal. Also, I see no problem with using the egg picture as a reference for the “yellow egg” parsing if it’s unique from the usual way Nintendo formats it (“Yellow Egg”). -- KOOPA CON CARNE 12:04, August 22, 2021 (EDT)
Spruced the category up with things like the Tropical Freeze Valentine’s Facebook posts. Keep on looking for interesting stuff! -- KOOPA CON CARNE 14:02, August 22, 2021 (EDT)
Actually, I think it would fit better in the artwork gallery, specifically its “Miscellaneous” section. If you put it there, make sure whether the other pictures are in some sort of chronological order and choose a spot in said chronology where March 2013, St. Patrick’s Day, (the picture’s original upload date) would fall on. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 15:27, August 22, 2021 (EDT)
Yeah, I also often worry about consistency in captions, but in the end I don’t think it’s that major of an issue unless the caption gets so lengthy it sort of cascades down that short space under the image. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 15:39, August 22, 2021 (EDT)
On second thought, I think the pic fits better where you put it. That caption is loooong. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 15:47, August 22, 2021 (EDT)

-- KOOPA CON CARNE 03:28, August 24, 2021 (EDT)

The table format was very well thought out and I can only tip my hat off to your creativity. I don’t think a template is warranted here, however, since it’s unlikely the format will be used any further. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 13:27, August 25, 2021 (EDT)
Yep. As you said, the current format doesn’t spoil the answer unless the reader deliberately chooses to have it displayed. It also has the added benefit of keeping the table compact, easy to go through and to the point. I find it similar to how I formatted the tables on pages such as List of Play Nintendo cards, and you know what they say, great minds think alike and all that. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 19:48, August 25, 2021 (EDT)
In this case, how do you plan integrating the thumbnails/icons with their sections? I’m referring to the images displayed on the left of each row in the table. Maybe you could just put it beside the section’s general description like any other wiki image; would that look good? -- KOOPA CON CARNE 13:14, August 26, 2021 (EDT)

RE:WarioWare countdown graphic

You did a good job on those. The WarioWare countdown graphics posted prior to the one I uploaded seem to have been deleted and, unlike you, I was negligent enough to let them slip by... Why are they even deleted in the first place? To clean up their timeline? -- KOOPA CON CARNE 19:12, September 6, 2021 (EDT)

If memory serves right, the SuperMario_UK Twitter, where I got that Jimmy T. countdown art from, posted a few other countdown pictures before it (“6 days to go”, “7 days to go”, etc.) I don’t see them on the account’s timeline anymore; either they were removed the next day, posted by another Nintendo account, or I need to lay off the antidepressants. Regardless, I archived the Jimmy T. tweet and linked to that archive on the graphic’s wiki file page. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 19:27, September 6, 2021 (EDT)

-- KOOPA CON CARNE 17:28, September 15, 2021 (EDT)

Thanks! -- KOOPA CON CARNE 08:28, October 16, 2021 (EDT)

I’m afraid I still can’t archive Facebook posts for some reason—not by using the .is domain, not by removing the “a.” bit in the URL, not with or without the “m” identifier for mobile view. (This post, for starters.) -- KOOPA CON CARNE 09:21, October 16, 2021 (EDT)
I know, it seems ridiculous, but I want to have these posts (and, more broadly, the accounts they pertain to) thoroughly backed up and documented. They’re pulling the plug on Dr. Mario World on November 1; what’s telling us they won’t also take down the years of promotional material they’ve posted alongside the game’s development, since it soon won’t be of much relevance? We’re kind of in an urgent pickle, you know :O
Note that I won’t do the same for other images that they’ve made a habit of reposting tens of times (such as for the game’s recurring events), since that would really bloat their respective aboutfile; rather, I’m going to add these posts as sources on a page I’ve started working on, “List of virus quotes”. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 12:39, October 16, 2021 (EDT)
Thank you so much for the kind words, as well as for the occasional convo. It means a whole lot to me. ^^ -- KOOPA CON CARNE 13:13, October 16, 2021 (EDT)
Agreed. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 14:09, October 16, 2021 (EDT)
I’ve fallen extremely behind with editing the Triforce Wiki, but it’s still on my mind. I just really want to get some closure on my Mario Wiki projects before I proceed with the other. I feel sort of… obliged to do so, after all. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 07:33, October 17, 2021 (EDT)

-- KOOPA CON CARNE 19:33, October 19, 2021 (EDT)

Ah, interesting pitch! -- KOOPA CON CARNE 19:49, October 19, 2021 (EDT)

RE:Twitpic

I find it weird how the Wayback Machine snapshot shows replies, whereas the tweet’s original page doesn’t display any. Might be an issue on my end. As an aside, I enjoy seeing snapshots of a time when Twitter users had far more palatable reactions than the crap you see now, lol.
Anyway, thanks for letting me know of these! The other day, I began creating sections on game articles for any of their official descriptions (similar to the “Profiles and statistics” rubrics we have for various subjects), and I trust we can find some relevant stuff for these sections among Nintendo’s earliest tweets. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 14:44, October 24, 2021 (EDT)

So far, I’ve set up such sections for Wario Land 4, Wario: Master of Disguise, and The Game of Life: Super Mario Edition. ‘Twas an idea that’s come up when Mario’s official British Twitter posted about the former two games, so I think virtually any textual snippet that serves to promote a piece of media is worth putting under wiki spotlight. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 15:21, October 24, 2021 (EDT)

Dr. Mario World social media account preservation project

Hey! You’ve lately seen me contribute a lot of things from the official Dr. Mario World Twitter and Facebook accounts. It turns out this project is a lot of work, and I fear these accounts will go down alongside the game in just a week. Would you fancy helping out? :) -- KOOPA CON CARNE 15:20, October 25, 2021 (EDT)

There are, for instance, the Skill Summit artworks, for which I’ve already prepared a gallery in my archive. Those are basically the images labeled “Skill Summit update!” or “Skill Summit—The current summit is nearly over!” and showing each summit’s mentor doctors and reward, respectively. When uploading one on the wiki, the file name should be “DMW Skill Summit xx mentors.img” or “DMW Skill Summit xx end.img” as the case may be, where “xx” is the summit’s number. winstein (talk) has just created a List of Skill Summits in Dr. Mario World where each summit is listed with its mentors and rewards, and you can use that to orient yourself on which summit each image is relevant to. The aboutfile should contain the following:
File:DMW Skill Summit xx mentors.ext

File:DMW Skill Summit xx end.ext

I’ll concern myself with the other images they’ve posted. If you need some guidance, or if you feel like you don’t want to do this, please shoot me a message. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 16:50, October 25, 2021 (EDT)

-- KOOPA CON CARNE 16:50, October 25, 2021 (EDT)

Eh, those were the early days of Nintendo’s foray into social media. I don’t think they had enough of a following there to be subjected to the scrutiny that would determine them to make the most qualitatively superior, on-brand promo art for their Facebooks and Twitters. Either way, thanks for documenting those and proving their authenticity! -- KOOPA CON CARNE 20:44, October 25, 2021 (EDT)

Mario Odyssey photo contest

It’s material acknowledged by Nintendo, so I think it has its place here on the wiki. It could be through a subsection on Gallery:Super Mario Odyssey, though I’d much prefer a dedicated page for this contest in order to give these photos a little more descriptive context.
Also, I distinctly remember some English-speaking Mario or Nintendo Twitter account holding a similar contest. I’m gonna have to look into it though. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 04:56, November 2, 2021 (EDT)

Hi, I just noticed that the elusive hi-res Lord Crump artwork has been uploaded by you. It's sourced Nintendo of Europe but there's no link. Hey, since you recently reuploaded the trailer from DKC3 (GBA), I need to ask you what I did wrong while uploading. You see, before I tried uploading the video, I downloaded it as an mp3, converted it into a standard .ogg file, then uploaded it to this wiki.
