Sigh... since communication seems to be so hard these days, and since I see an edit war arising here, we will settle this argument democratically. So stop edit warring and start voting. Ah, and another thing: Any kind of flame or personal attack made here will be met with appropriate measurements. You have been warned!

:I think this discussion is deviating from the main point. The real question is whether or not there is a significant relationship between Bowser Jr. and Princess Peach. Whether you call it an Affiliation or Relationship seems very moot, as you could fit the definition under either. In my opinion, I do think their relationship is significant enough to warrant a mention in this way. Much of Bowser Jr.'s actions in the all of the games he has been in revolve around his ties to Princess Peach, making such a relationship important enough in the Mario storyline and to Bowser Jr.'s persona to warrent its mention as a significant relationship in Bowser Jr.'s article. Bowser Jr. Nutt 15:45 5 April 2010 (EST)

:In most cases, the latest artwork is used. But the Bowser Jr. artwork for NSMBU is specialized for that game, meaning there is something "atypical" about it (see the policy).  In this case, Bowser Jr. is flying the [[Koopa Clown Car#New Super Mario Bros. Hello,

::Since the movie predated Junior's debut by many years, it's not actually a (potential) appearance by him, just a fun coincidence. However, it is worth mentioning that a rejected pitch had a "[Bowser] Junior" as a cameo in the sequel hook, just don't be cheeky about it like we were for the AF DYK and pretend like it's a real appearance. Ideally, if there was a "Creation" section before History, it could go there, or an "Other Appearances" section at the end of the History, since it doesn't deserve a History section until itself; until either section exists, however, I suppose it could go in Trivia. - 20:14, 28 December 2015 (EST)

Age
In Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, Bowser Jr. seems somewhat taller and different compared to his last appearance (Mario Kart 8 Deluxe). I'm not sure if this is good enough to go in the article, but I noticed that he seems like he's the same height as Mario, whereas in other games, he seemed a bit shorter than him. Again, I don't know if this is good enough to go into the article, but can we look into this? <span style="color:green">B ron 3000</span>   22:25, 27 August 2017 (EDT)
: Junior's like Bowser in that his size changes depending on the game. In "Super Smash Bros" (not really a good example, but moreso, for the sake of the argument, let's go with it) he's probably the shortest character on the roster outside of his clown car (roughly the same height, if not shorter than Villager). Meanwhile, in "Super Mario Galaxy", he's taller than Princess Peach. Even his speech patterns are a bit hard to use as proof since he usually calls Bowser "Dad" nowadays, but he still uses "Papa" in the 3DS version of "Rio 2016" and in "Mario + Rabbids"--Thatguy62 (talk) 22:31, 27 August 2017 (EDT)
Decide what image to use for Bowser Jr.'s infobox
Settled TPP

Since this seems to be a bit contentious right now, I figured the best option would be to make a TPP to decide which image we should use for Bowser Jr.'s infobox.

I apologize if I did this incorrectly, not sure if we do TPPs for this sort of thing anymore.
Proposer: Waluigi Time<br>
Deadline: January 19, 2019, 23:59 GMT
Option 1 (Mario Party 9)
#Waluigi Time It's a render which is consistent with the main series and most spinoffs, which is what we usually use. It's also a more standard pose than the one from Super Mario Party and shows his appearance better.
#Super Radio Usually, as far as I know, the infobox should contain the most recent artwork of the article's subject, but in this case, since Bowser Jr. has more appearances in 3D than in 2D, I think it's more appropriate to use a 3D render rather than the drawn artwork. It's also more consistent with other infoboxes for major characters. And I prefer the first option for the same reason as you.
#Toadette the Achiever Seems like the best option right now.
#Doomhiker Per all.
#TheFlameChomp Per all.
#BBQ Turtle Per all, if there is official 3D artwork available we should go for that, but this is a better pose than the Super Mario Party artwork. I was going to bring this up before and forgot, actually, so per all.
#MeritC Per all; I think this still definitely represents Bowser Jr.'s character at this time.
#Scrooge200 Infobox images are the first thing you see when you go on the page, and I think this one represents Bowser Jr. the best.
#Sdman213 Per all, I've always preferred this to his Super Mario Party art.
#bwburke94 Per all.
#Bazooka Mario I really don't like the awkward posing from Super Mario Party.
Option 2 (Super Mario Party)
#Doc von Schmeltwick Following our own rules; this proposal is ridiculous. What's wrong with the pose? Shell's just as important as the bib.
#WeirdDave13 Per Doc. Makes more sense to use this one instead.
#MarioManiac1981 Per Doc. Since the other characters have their infoboxes updated to use their Super Mario Party artworks (barring Mario and Luigi), why shouldn't Bowser Jr.'s artwork stay the way it is? Option 3 should be in Bowser Jr.'s gallery page.
Option 3 (Bowser Jr.'s Journey)
#FanOfYoshi Looks good enough to fit in the infobox. Since it's the recent Mario game to have been released in Japan, i think this is the most appropriate option. The Mario & Luigi artworks are drawn in a very good way.
#Scrooge200 This one is my second choice.
#MarioManiac1981 Per all. This is my second option.
Comments
@Doc von Schmeltwick: This proposal is only to clear up the issue of putting the Bowser Jr.'s Journey artwork in the infobox. If the admins determine using the MP9 artwork over the SMP is against policy, then they can deal with that once this passes. I do recall in the past artwork has been skipped if the pose itself is unsuitable, but I'm not quite sure. It might be a good idea for the standards for infobox artwork to be elaborated on in the future. -- 15:15, 6 January 2019 (EST)
:It's not straightforward and easy to put on a policy though, and at a certain point a case-by-case inspection is needed. In this case, the problem with the Mario & Luigi series is that it has its own artstyle, there is a tendency to avoid artwork in a unique artstyle as it tends to alter main features of the design, although in this case there doesn't seem to be an important removal or alteration of any of the major traits of Bowser Jr.'s design. In the case of the artwork for Super Mario Party, there is indeed the issue that the bib is a main trait of Bowser Jr., so the concern on whether the main artwork should show it in full is legitimate. Finally, the artwork of Mario Party 9 is really old and is missing some details, like those related to the material of which the cuffs and the bibs are composed. There is no clear better solution here.--Mister Wu (talk) 18:55, 6 January 2019 (EST)
::Yeah, that's true. I do think something should be mentioned about exceptions being allowed in cases of stylized artwork (although, looking at the infobox again, I'd say that falls under "if the latest artwork is specialized for that game") or poses that may be unsuitable though. -- 19:30, 6 January 2019 (EST)

An Observation; Is it Noteable?[edit]

While playing New Super Mario Bros. Wii, I noticed something. In the entire game, Bowser Jr. never wears his bandana on his face except for two instances: the ending and begining cutscenes, which are also the only two times in the game that Bowser Jr. is on the same screen as the Koopalings. I thought that, considering he's the youngest and that all the other koopalings have fully developed fangs while he doesn't, it was kind of interesting that he never actually shows his face uncovered while in the presence of his siblings. Nothing major, but it seemed pretty interesting to me. Does this seem noteworthy enough to be mentioned somewhere on the Bowser Jr. or New Super Mario Bros. Wii page or trivia section? Bowser Jr. Nutt

I'll add this observation in the trivia section of both the Bowser Jr. page and the New Super Mario Bros. Wii page in a week unless objections are made. Bowser Jr. Nutt, December 12th, 2010.

Koopa Family tag[edit]

Uhh, this is pretty irrelevant to Bowser Jr. himself, but I'm not really fond of the Koopa family tag...mark...thing at the bottom there. Lakitu and not Morton? Morton IS a dead link at the moment, and I wouldn't be able to make as detailed of a page compared to other Koopaling pages, but he deserves to be there more than Lakitu. Does anyone know how to fix this? Evan

I just fixed it, but to answer your question, that info was placed in a template. A template can be edited just like any other entry and has it's own page. In this case, it was Template:Bowser's family. -- Ghost Jam

Question[edit]

I want to disagree with something in the article says. I thoght that Bowser showed emotion towards his kids in The Super Mario Bros Super Show. I know that thats not really canon, but I'm not sure the article should say "Never". I wont change it without Someones O.kay, though. - User: Ultimatetoad

A comment stating "although this was not so in the cartoons" or something like that would be fine. In fact, I'll add it. -- Son of Suns

Thanks. - User: Ultimatetoad

I don't really think this line:

"The evil king himself even shows emotions toward his new son, something never seen when he is around his other seven children (although this was not the case in the cartoons"

Should be here, Bowser was never actually seen with his other children in the games, so we have no idea what his relationship with them was. -- Sir Grodus

True. Changing. -- Son of Suns

Thank you Mario! But is Bowser Jr. really burning another castle?[edit]

How does lightning cause fire?! If the manual was canonical, then how come it said Bowser Jr. actually DID believe that Peach was his mother? How come it says that smoke was coming from the castle as soon as Mario and Peach arrived? In conclusion, the writer of the manual was probably mistaken. - Hyper Mushroom

Well, lightning is extremely hot, about 28,000 degrees Celsius (50,000 degrees Fahrenheit). This is about five times hotter than the surface of the sun. This heat can set dry objects ablaze. That's why there are so many huge wildfires in the West and Midwest. Dry leaves are struck by lightning, causing a huge fire. Also, the instruction manual merely states that Bowser once thought that Peach was his mother, not that he still does (even though the game does not contradict this, I believe). I don't know what you mean by the last comment. As soon as Mario and Peach arrive, an event takes place and smoke begins to rise. Mario rushes to investigate the fire. -- Son of Suns
No, he didn't believe this. He admitted it at the end. Remember? - Hyper Mushroom
At the end of Super Mario Sunshine. But does New Super Mario Bros. (the game) mention anything about the subject? -- Son of Suns

Koopaling[edit]

Is Bowser Jr. really considered a koopaling?F gLarrynana.gif

By some, yes; by others, no. I don't think he's ever been officially named as a Koopaling though. -- Sir Grodus

He hasnt been officially called a Koopaling, but seeing as he is a son of Bowser, we assume he is.At least he works with them on nemerous occasions to kidnap Peach--Smileymiley5001 15:32, 14 February 2011 (EST)

A Koopaling? No way! They're stupid and he's a genius!
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Electrical Bowser jr. (talk).

Plus, the koopalings have wands, but not him. Just pointing that out. -PinkYoshiFan

Same Voice Actor?[edit]

Is Jr. voiced by the same actor in Mario Strikers Charged?--Bowser Jr. Fan 17:22, 8 August 2007 (EDT)

I'm not sure, anyone know where that information could be found at? But it is likely Dolores Rogers does voice him in the game. -- Sir Grodus

Also, I checked the credits in the game and it doesn't list Dolores Rogers in the voice section.--Bowser Jr. Fan 18:30, 8 August 2007 (EDT)

Trivia[edit]

In the trivia, do we really need the fact he's on a magazine cover? Mr. Guy

I would think so, its actuallly surprising to have him on a magazine cover so thats why I put it their. --Bowser Jr. Fan 09:57, 9 November 2007 (EST)

First Appearence[edit]

My brother and I are having a HUGE debate over weather or not Bowser Jr. first appeared in SMS or Mario Party, he says the latter. He claims Bowser Jr. was introduced by Bowser on the last level in Mario Party. Any explanation? We don't own Mario Party 1 anymore. --HyperToad 15:53, 28 November 2007 (EST)

Bowser Jr. had his first appearance in Super Mario Sunshine. The character in Mario Party was Koopa Kid, though I believe he went under a different name in the earlier games. ~Devicho

Source for Trivia[edit]

 • Bowser Jr.'s motto is "Grin and bear it. When that don't work, grin and crush it."
 • His favorite hobbies are stealing cookies from other kids in day care and scribbling.
 • Bowser Jr. resides at "48 Lava Cul-De-Sac, Magma Manor."
 • Jr. spent the majority of his childhood practicing golf on his dad's private course.

What is the source of these Trivia items? - Cobold (talk · contribs) 13:13, 30 November 2007 (EST)

The first three are from NoA's Mario Power Tennis website, and the fourth is from a video on NoA's Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour page. ~Devicho

Age[edit]

How do we know for sure that Bowser Jr. is younger than the Koopalings? Is this stated somewhere, or is it just speculation? -- Booster

Speculation, I'm guessing. I think it mostly stems from his general appearance, size and lack of fire breathing. Plus, didn't a website say he's in kindergarten or something? -- Sir Grodus 20:52, 11 December 2007 (EST)

Yeah, but I forget which website. >_> My Bloody Valentine

It said such on the Mario Power Tennis site, though it was actually day care and not kindergarten. ~Devicho

Jr's description[edit]

Bowser_Jr.#Physical_Description says "He also wears a choker similar to Bowser's." Does Bowser Jr only wear the choker in Mario Strikers Charged? Also, Wikipeida's List_of_Mario_series_characters#Bowser_Jr. says Bowser Jr "wears a kerchief constantly.", but I see no mention of the kerchief in mariowiki's article. EarthFurst 00:47, 5 August 2008 (EDT)

Yes, he only wears the choker in Strikers Charged. - MST3K

Koopa heir/ Magic Brush[edit]

Is it officially confirmed that Bowser Jr. is the heir to the Koopa throne? Using logic, it should be Ludwig, since he's the oldest. - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 02:46, 4 October 2009 (EDT)

Another question. Is it confirmed that his transformation powers come from the magic paintbrush? I always used to think it's the bandanna that enables the transformation, since he always pulls it over his mouth when transforming. Additionally, Mario's nose and beard are imprinted on the bandanna, which indicates that it was specially designed to assume Mario's form. Bowser Jr. seems to lose his transfomation powers after SMS, simultaneously he switches the blue Mario-bandanna with a white one with teeth imprinted on it. He's never seen transforming while wearing the white bandanna. I find that rather suspicious... - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 02:55, 4 October 2009 (EDT)

1st question: Not really, but he is said to Bowser's favorite child.
2nd question: Bowser's Jr. loses his powers after he loses the brush, not to mention he carries the brush everytime he transforms.--Knife (talk) 13:23, 4 October 2009 (EDT)

1st answer: Then it should be removed, if there's no source to verify that info. This is a featured article and those shouldn't contain speculation.
2nd answer: But only the bandanna is actively involved in the transformation, since he puts it over his face to transform, while he does absolutely nothing with the brush. I think until he's actually seen using the brush for the transformation, this part is speculation too... (maybe the bandanna was created by the brush, since it looks like a Mario beard was scribbled on it, but that's another story). - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 13:56, 4 October 2009 (EDT)

Well, him being the heir has kinda been hinted at. In his Mario Superstar Baseball bio, it states that Bowser thinks that the kingdom is in good hands with Jr. Never 100% confirmed though. --Devicho 16:50, 4 October 2009 (EDT)

I don't think it's speculation, really. It is very deductible that the the brush is a part of his tranformation. Shadow Mario's exterior looks like he's covered in some kind of goop while the Magic Brush creates goop. As for the bandana, it could simply be a design and nothing more. owser's Jr. also cannott tansform by himself. Nintendo never outright confirmed it, so we must draw the answer using common sense. Knife (talk) 17:13, 4 October 2009 (EDT)

But common sense is very subjective, and also my common sense tells me that it's the bandanna, since it clearly looks like and is used like a tool to transform into Shadow Mario. I can't really think of another reason why Jr. should be running around wearing a bandanna with part of Mario's face on it over his mouth (he strongly dislikes Mario). - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 17:21, 4 October 2009 (EDT)

It may be possible that both are part of his transformation. We have 4 explanations at this point:

 1. BJ has an inherent ability to transform (which is debunked because he never transforms outside of his first game)
 2. BJ uses the brush to make himself appear like Mario (though it doesn't explain why he wear a bandana with Mario's face on it considering he hates Mario)
 3. BJ uses a bandana to tranform (though it doesn't explain where the goop-like substance comes from)
 4. BJ use the bandana to cover up his facial features and paints his body with the brush.

I'm starting to think #4 makes more sense.Knife (talk) 17:41, 4 October 2009 (EDT)

What about my theory that he used the brush to create the bandanna? I think it would be handier to create a tool to transform, rather than painting the whole body all the time. Plus, the gooey effect seems to wear off the instant he pulls that thing from his face (note the cutscene in Pinna Park). - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 17:54, 4 October 2009 (EDT)

You're thinking too hard on this. We don't know anything for sure except that the brush and bandana may have something to do with his transformation. Anything beyond that is speculation.--Knife (talk) 19:03, 4 October 2009 (EDT)

You're right, we know nothing more than that, which is not much. The problem is that the article clearly states that he uses the brush to transform, which can not be verified by an appropriate source. I am sorry if I'm annoying you with my picky behaviour, I am only worried because this is an FA, and it just throws that information at the reader without any citation. - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 19:09, 4 October 2009 (EDT)
How would it be if we just describe what he does to transform (holding the brush and putting the bandanna over his mouth) and don't say anything about how important these steps are for the transformation? That way there's no confusion and no speculation. - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 19:13, 4 October 2009 (EDT)

Ah, no problem. That should work. After all, it is 100% fact.--Knife (talk) 20:09, 4 October 2009 (EDT)

From my first time playing the game, it felt obvious to me that both the bandanna and the brush work in-tandem. The bandanna defines what the user will turn into, while the brush is the how behind that transformation. Redstar 22:49, 25 November 2009 (EST)

I think brush alows him to transform, while the bandanna allows him to assume the form of mario. User:BowserInTheSun

I disagree, BowserInTheSun - when Shadow Mario transforms back into Bowser Jr., first he spins around, making a Shadow Bowser Jr. (Bowser Jr., but made out of that blue goop), then pulls down the bandana, ridding his body of the goop. So I'm pretty sure that the bandana makes the goop (I know that doesn't seem to make sense), then uses the brush to move the goop around into the right shape - or the spinning does that, and the brush does nothing. Bowser Jr.'s Connection to Il Piantissimo[edit]

Some people might know the controversity surrounding Il Piantissimo, who seems to find Bowser Jr.'s Magic Brush at the beach after the events of Super Mario Sunshine. There are several rumours about the Identity of Shadow Mario after the game (in the game, there's no doubt that he is Bowser Jr., since we can see him transform).

While doing research on Super Mario Sunshine (I'm currently expanding the level articles of that game), I made a rather surprising discovery. There is this mission, in Pinna Park, Episode one: Mecha Bowser appears!. During that mission, you chase Shadow Mario through Pinna Park until he reaches a pool of water, where a giant metal-replica of Bowser appears later on. However, just before that robot appears, Shadow Mario can be seen standing in front of the pool, waiting for the player. And while doing this, he has exactly the same idle animation like Il Piantissimo. Right after that scene we see him transform into Bowser Jr.. So my question is now: What the heck is that supposed to mean? - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 11:27, 21 November 2009 (EST)

My theory is that since Il Piantissimo runs wildly using Mario's moves and Shadow Mario runs wildly using Mario's moves, Maybe Nintendo edited Il Piantissimo's sprite to make it look like a Shadow Mario, but forgot to change his standing animation. Lemmy Koopa Fan (talk)

No, I doubt this was a programming mistake. But I did notice how Shadow Mario does that head-bouncing-thing just like Piantissimo, and I don't think he only dose this in Pinna Part. It is also just possible that Nintendo was planning a sequel where Piantissimo has the brush, but never made another game. Although that's still unlikely... Fawfulfury65

I think perhaps Piantissimo might be the shadow mario of future games like mario golf toadstool tour. Toadbrigade5 (talk) 20:03, 18 May 2014 (EDT)

That can't be true because the paintbrush doesn't do the transforming. - Ninelevendo's Sig Image 21:55, 18 May 2014 (EDT)

Is Bowser Jr. affiliated with Princess Peach?[edit]

Sigh... since communication seems to be so hard these days, and since I see an edit war arising here, we will settle this argument democratically. So stop edit warring and start voting. Ah, and another thing: Any kind of flame or personal attack made here will be met with appropriate measurements. You have been warned!

Should Princess Peach be mentioned in the affiliation section of Bowser Jr.'s infobox? - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 19:01, 30 November 2009 (EST)

Yes, they are affiliated[edit]

 1. Edofenrir (talk) - Bowser Jr. starts of believing that she is his mother, and even after he is proven otherwise, he still calls her mama mockingly. For me that's enough proof that they are at least affiliated in some way (Bowser Jr. with Peach more than Peach with him)
 2. Mario64fanatic (talk) - Per Edo
 3. Dry Paratroopa (talk) - Per Edo.
 4. Panchito - A charcter doesn't have to be in a friendly relationship with a character to be affiliated with them.
 5. Lemmy Koopa Fan (talk) - Per Edo.

No, they are not affiliated[edit]

 1. SolarBlaze (talk) - I disagree for the reasons I listed in the "History" summary. I honestly don't see how being tricked into thinking that Peach is Bowser Jr.'s mother, means that they're affiliated. Also, Peach has never joined forces with Bowser Jr. in any way, shape, or form, unlike some of her temporary alliances with Bowser.
 2. MeritC (talk) - Per SolarBlaze; I don't see why Bowser Jr. could be affiliated with Peach in ANY way. Bowser and Bowser Jr. are antagonists while Peach is a protagonist. This just doesn't sit well with me here. Not to mention that Peach finds Bowser Jr. annoying (along with Peach hating Bowser himself).
 3. Gamefreak75 (talk)-Misunderstood the proposal...again. Per all.
 4. Tucayo (talk) - Per Merit
 5. Redstar (talk) - Affiliation is an entirely different term to "relationship"
 6. Fawfulfury65 (talk) Per SolarBlaze. Roy Koopa calls Princess Peach "mom" in Super Mario Adventures, and yet that doesn't mean they are affiliated.

Comments[edit]

@Solarblaze: However most recently Bowser Jr. has been the one kidnapping Peach instead of Bowser himself.Gamefreak75 (talk)

D'OH, I thought Edo meant relationships, not the affiliations, but i'm still questioning.Gamefreak75 (talk)
I think it would be helpful to define a standard for the affiliation section. Is it for organisations the character is a part of? Is it for allies? Is it for people who have a strong connection to that character? I looked at the infobox' talk page, but the question wasn't answered there. - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 01:28, 1 December 2009 (EST)
By definition, "affiliation" in its modern sense refers to a singular character or group and their relationship with a group or organization. You cannot be affiliated with a singular person; has to be a group of some sort. Bowser Jr.'s relationship to Princess Peach is just that: a relationship, and is adequately described in the respective section. Redstar 01:37, 1 December 2009 (EST)
Well, then we have some reforms to do, actually, since many character articles list single persons in their affiliation sections. The two possibilities now are either to change the name of the affiliation section itself, or to change the infos on all that character articles. - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 01:45, 1 December 2009 (EST)
Well we can add a new section to the template, and divide the two as "Affiliations" and "Relationships" (Major relationships only, of course). For Bowser Jr., Koopa Troop under Affiliation(s), and Bowser, Mario, Princess Peach, and Koopalings under Relationships. It can satisfy both parties, and won't increase the template too noticeably. Redstar 01:52, 1 December 2009 (EST)
I think this discussion is deviating from the main point. You know, that's something I never really got. Bowser Jr. is supposedly the youngest, yet Lemmy is the smallest, the most childish, and he doesn't even have any fangs (or visible teeth, for that matter). Not to mention Lemmy is supposedly one of the eldest. I also noticed that, originally, Lemmy was the only one of Bowser's children to have the black wristbands but without the spikes. Pal_626

Bowser Jr.'s artwork for the info box[edit]

Why is it that Bowser Jr.'s New Super Mario Bros U. artwork can't be used for the info box? I thought we are suppose to use the most recent image in the info box. People just change it back to the Mario Party 9 artwork when ever someone changes it to New Super Mario Bros. U. What is the reason for this? Smasher345 22:29, 21 December 2012 (EST)

In most cases, the latest artwork is used. But the Bowser Jr. artwork for NSMBU is specialized for that game, meaning there is something "atypical" about it (see the policy). In this case, Bowser Jr. is flying the Koopa Clown Car. Therefore, the older solo artwork from Mario Party 9 is used instead.

Same deal as this: TPPs are meant to be used for major changes to a page, like splits, merges and overhauls. Did he really survive stickerstar?[edit]

As we all know it is heavily implied that Jr. is killed after the last battle against him in sticker star. The article says he survived because he is in the ending parade. However the ending parade is simply a non-canon, fun way to show the characters in a RPG game. The article should mention that he probably was killed for real. This part of the trivia section for one of the villans (Mack) of Mario RPG is a good example of how it could be done, "The ending seems to imply that the original Mack survived after his defeat, as he, along with Bowyer and Yaridovich, is seen in the ending parade being pounded by Smithy's hammer. This does not automatically indicate his survival, however, as the parade is merely an interesting way of showing the characters who were in the game.". While we are on the subject this change should also be added to the Sticker Star part of Kamek's article.- pants98

I really don't think he died, as he is one of the main villains. And seeing as there is no concrete proof of him dying it shouldn't be added as it would be speculation. Yoshi876 (talk)
The parade was the Sticker Fest though, much like how the parade of the original Paper Mario was the actual party Peach threw. There's also the obvious fact a main character isn't going to get killed off in a spin-off. Koopalmier (talk) 18:18, 1 August 2013 (EDT)

Ummmmm, yeah, just because very specific instructions aren't in the "MarioWiki" or "Help" namespaces that doesn't make them optional. If they could be dismissed as "more like guidelines anyway", then what would be the point of writing them out in the first place? In fact, those infobox instructions were specifically made to stop these TPPs from happening all the time - we just didn't think we needed to make a whole bloody policy page about it. As for the full instructions (yeah, I know it was already quoted in part, but I'm not rewriting this edit-conflicted post anymore than I absolutely have to and I want this excerpt to really stand out anyway):

However, if the latest artwork is specialized for that game (i.e. the character's wearing sporting gear, driving a kart, etc.), an older image may be retained as the infobox image instead. Note that the infobox cannot be updated while a game is still upcoming: it can only be changed after the game is released.

SSB4 is the latest game, but it's got the Clown Car in it, so it's not an ideal representation of him. Similarly, MG:WT depicts him golfing, so that's out. Then we have MP:IT, which is better but has him toting around a shell, so a case can be made against it, I suppose, but it's getting flimsier. NSMBU has the Clown Car again, and with special boxing gloves or something, so no, and MTO doesn't have solo art of him, bringing us to our current artwork from MP9 (afaik). So the debate really boils down to whether the generic MP:IT shell prop is "specialized for that game" and whether the Clown Car is similarly disqualifyingly "specialized" for SSB. I would have been better if this was just a discussion instead of a whole TPP, but oh well. Hopefully we'll get some propless Junior art again before long and then we can update the infobox without any issue at all... - Walkazo 19:43, 26 September 2014 (EDT)
I have a question: why is it a huge pain for my browser to load the Island Tour artwork? I wouldn't use the Island Tour artwork anyway, the aliasing on the edges are terrible. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C) 19:55, 26 September 2014 (EDT)
It's because your browser sucks. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 16:32, 27 September 2014 (EDT)
Well it could load the bigger, more bandwidth demanding images but it always stalled when it tried loading the Island Tour one. Huh. Now the problem vanished. I'm going to issue a quality tag on that image. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C) 16:35, 27 September 2014 (EDT)

About Bowser Jr.'s voice actresses[edit]

Hello, I actually searched throughout the entire internet but couldn't find an answer to that question : Why did Dolores Rogers stopped voice acting Bowser Jr/Why did Sagoian took up the role ? All I know is that Dolores Rogers didn't retire because she's currently voicing Wiggler... Can you answer me please ? Thanks.

Bowser Jr's Mother Revealed?[edit]

Should we mention it now? Shigeru Miyamoto made a video about 'Mario Myths', and his anwer to who Bowser Jr's mother is was...

Himself.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uu2DnTd3dEo

Either way, this could make the 'relationships' part of the article hilarious awkward!

No. It's clear that Miyamoto didn't mean to take this literally. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 15:28, 10 September 2015 (EDT)
On the technical side, if an official Nintendo developer states it, isn't it as true as the grass is green? And saying that it would be a joke would be speculation, right? UserPyroGuy.png (T · C) 13:56, 19 September 2015 (EDT)
It's most likely that he meant that he came up with the character IRL, but it would be speculation to state that that's absolutely what he meant. However, saying he was joking isn't speculation: it's obvious that we're not supposed to interpret his answer as him being the in-universe mother - taking it literally like that would make the wiki look nothing sort of foolish. We are allowed to use common sense around here for the sake of comprehensive and respectable articles. - Walkazo 14:08, 19 September 2015 (EDT)
I guess my point is that until he comes out and says that he was joking, officially, he wasn't. Even if it's clear that he was joking, it's not official. UserPyroGuy.png (T · C) 02:50, 21 September 2015 (EDT)

Should we make a redirect link of "Paper Bowser Jr." to the Paper Mario section of this page?[edit]

Scans from Famitsu (that can be seen here) reveal that in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam both Bowser Jr. and Paper Bowser Jr. will be present. Of course, making a separate page for Paper Bowser Jr. might be a little overkill, but I think we should consider at least making a redirect to the Paper Mario section of this page so that working "Paper Bowser Jr." link can be made.--Mister Wu (talk) 12:04, 14 October 2015 (EDT)

Redirects are more for the convenience of the reader and not the convenience of the editor. If we're going to have the paper variant be a part of the "main" article, our links would look something like Paper Bowser Jr.. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
Ok, thanks for the tip. I was wondering if subsection of a page could be directly linked.--Mister Wu (talk) 13:35, 14 October 2015 (EDT)

Cameo in SMB movie[edit]

One of the "Did you know" items from April Fools 2013 was this:

(Don't let the words "April Fools" fool you, this is actually true. I'm just explaining where I found this.)

Do you think this is the kind of information that we should cover? Should we add it to the trivia section? I don't think it deserves its own subsection

Banon (talk · edits) 19:07, 28 December 2015 (EST)

I don't think this is an actual appearance, as the script was rejected. Maybe you are thinking about a Super Princess Peach situation, where the Koopalings sprites were rejected too, but I think there is a difference: in that case the sprites were left in the final version, in this case no sign of Bowser Jr. was in the final version, as far as I know. Still, maybe you can put it in the trivia as what could have been an appearance, but wasn't.--Mister Wu (talk) 19:57, 28 December 2015 (EST)
Since the movie predated Junior's debut by many years, it's not actually a (potential) appearance by him, just a fun coincidence. - Walkazo 20:14, 28 December 2015 (EST)

Age[edit]

In Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, Bowser Jr. seems somewhat taller and different compared to his last appearance (Mario Kart 8 Deluxe). I'm not sure if this is good enough to go in the article, but I noticed that he seems like he's the same height as Mario, whereas in other games, he seemed a bit shorter than him. Again, I don't know if this is good enough to go into the article, but can we look into this? B ron 3000 Luigi's face icon. 22:25, 27 August 2017 (EDT)

Junior's like Bowser in that his size changes depending on the game.

Decide what image to use for Bowser Jr.'s infobox[edit]

Settledproposal.svg This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit any of the sections in the proposal. If you wish to discuss the article, do so in a new header below the proposal.

Mario Party 9 11-3-3
Since this seems to be a bit contentious right now, I figured the best option would be to make a TPP to decide which image we should use for Bowser Jr.'s infobox.

I apologize if I did this incorrectly, not sure if we do TPPs for this sort of thing anymore.

Proposer: Waluigi Time (talk)
Deadline: January 19, 2019, 23:59 GMT

Option 1 (Mario Party 9)[edit]

 1. Waluigi Time (talk) It's a render which is consistent with the main series and most spinoffs, which is what we usually use. It's also a more standard pose than the one from Super Mario Party and shows his appearance better.
 2. Super Radio (talk) Usually, as far as I know, the infobox should contain the most recent artwork of the article's subject, but in this case, since Bowser Jr. has more appearances in 3D than in 2D, I think it's more appropriate to use a 3D render rather than the drawn artwork. It's also more consistent with other infoboxes for major characters. And I prefer the first option for the same reason as you.
 3. Toadette the Achiever (talk) Seems like the best option right now.
 4. Doomhiker (talk) Per all.
 5. TheFlameChomp (talk) Per all.
 6. BBQ Turtle (talk) Per all, if there is official 3D artwork available we should go for that, but this is a better pose than the Super Mario Party artwork. I was going to bring this up before and forgot, actually, so per all.
 7. MeritC (talk) Per all; I think this still definitely represents Bowser Jr.'s character at this time.
 8. Scrooge200 (talk) Infobox images are the first thing you see when you go on the page, and I think this one represents Bowser Jr. the best.
 9. Sdman213 (talk) Per all, I've always preferred this to his Super Mario Party art.
 10. bwburke94 (talk) Per all.
 11. Bazooka Mario (talk) I really don't like the awkward posing from Super Mario Party.

Option 2 (Super Mario Party)[edit]

 1. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) Following our own rules; this proposal is ridiculous. What's wrong with the pose? Shell's just as important as the bib.
 2. WeirdDave13 (talk) Per Doc. Makes more sense to use this one instead.
 3. MarioManiac1981 (talk) Per Doc. Since the other characters have their infoboxes updated to use their Super Mario Party artworks (barring Mario and Luigi), why shouldn't Bowser Jr.'s artwork stay the way it is? Option 3 should be in Bowser Jr.'s gallery page.

Option 3 (Bowser Jr.'s Journey)[edit]

 1. FanOfYoshi (talk) Looks good enough to fit in the infobox. Since it's the recent Mario game to have been released in Japan, i think this is the most appropriate option. The Mario & Luigi artworks are drawn in a very good way.
 2. Scrooge200 (talk) This one is my second choice.
 3. MarioManiac1981 (talk) Per all. This is my second option.

Comments[edit]

@Doc von Schmeltwick: This proposal is only to clear up the issue of putting the Bowser Jr.'s Journey artwork in the infobox. If the admins determine using the MP9 artwork over the SMP is against policy, then they can deal with that once this passes. I do recall in the past artwork has been skipped if the pose itself is unsuitable, but I'm not quite sure. It might be a good idea for the standards for infobox artwork to be elaborated on in the future. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 15:15, 6 January 2019 (EST)

It's not straightforward and easy to put on a policy though, and at a certain point a case-by-case inspection is needed.
Yeah, that's true. I do think something should be mentioned about exceptions being allowed in cases of stylized artwork (although, looking at the infobox again, I'd say that falls under "if the latest artwork is specialized for that game") or poses that may be unsuitable though. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. full name[edit]

Shouldn't his full last name be labeled as Bowser Koopa Jr. ? That is his fathers last name, after all.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Boxperson25 (talk).

The problem is, I don't think that name has ever been used in any form of media, and I'm not even sure if Bowser has ever used that name before either. Also, please remember to sign your comments, which you can do with four "~". Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 07:14, July 30, 2021 (EDT)
"Bowser Koopa" was used in some very early adaptations (The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, White Knuckle Scorin'), but all of them are pre-Bowser Jr. by a long shot. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:35, July 30, 2021 (EDT)

If Bowser's article says bowser's name is "King Bowser Koopa", wouldn't that make Jr's name "Prince Bowser Koopa Jr."? 106.69.177.86 04:44, May 7, 2023 (EDT)

Bowser Jr. has never been referred to by that name either. Therefore, it still runs into the same issue as previously discussed. Yours truly, RetroNintendo2008. My talk pageMy contributions 07:18, December 19, 2023 (EST)
