In ''[[Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest]]'' and ''[[Donkey Kong Land 2]]'', Clapper can cool down or freeze water with his breath if the Kongs jump on him; this allows the Kongs to swim past boiling parts of water or to walk on top of the ice.

Clapper has silver fur that covers his body, flippers, and tail. He has a snout with a round, black nose on the top of it. On each side of the snout, five whiskers grow, giving him ten in total. Clapper has large white eyes with small black pupils. Like any other seal, he has two curved flippers attached to his center body. His tail is similar to that of a dolphin, which is curved.

Full name Clapper the Seal[1]
Species Seal
First appearance Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest (1995)
Latest appearance Donkey Konga 2 (cameo) (2004)

Clapper, also written as Klapper,[2] is an Animal Friend in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2. His name is derived from his tendency to clap his flippers together. Clapper has silver fur, large eyes, and a tan snout with a black nose and five whiskers on each side.

Clapper has the exact same role in both games. He appears throughout Lava Lagoon, where he is used to cool the boiling water,[3] and his namesake level Clapper's Cavern, where he cools the water into ice so that the Kongs can avoid Snapjaw.[4][5] Either way, Clapper claps his flippers together after being jumped on. The water is only cooled for a few seconds,[6] reverting afterward. The Donkey Kong Land 2 equivalents of Lava Lagoon and Clapper's Cavern feature Clapper in the same capacities, but the latter is just for crossing the frigid water, having no Snapjaws.

Clapper does not physically appear in any other game, although there are the similar Seals in Donkey Kong 64, and Clapper's artwork is in the Freestyle Zone of Donkey Konga 2.
