Well, hello! Welcome back. Great job with the sprites, I've just went cropped them and added transparency. Also, when uploading files, be sure to add an image category, such as <code><nowiki>[[Category:Donkey Kong Land 2 Images]]</nowiki></code>. Thanks for reading.

That's fine, everything's cool. Me, I wasn't impatient, I just kind of forgot about it after a few weeks :P but welcome back! Hello, your recent article [[Stage 1-1]] is written like a walkthrough, and as per [[MarioWiki:Good writing|policy]] it should not sound like one, if you can I ask you to rewrite this and when you create articles like it in the future try to avoid that. == Question about the Bin article... ==
A short while ago, you [http://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Bin&diff=1738648&oldid=1656301 changed the title] of the Trash Can article to Bin, citing that Bin is the official name. However, I [http://www.mariowiki.com/Talk:Bin couldn't find a source] that matches that name. Since there's been more of a push for proper citations, do you remember where you saw "Bin" being used? == What's in a name ==
They're actually called "Sea Urchins" (page 14). Also on the list: Blue Finley (page 12), Green Finley (page 13), Red Finley (page 14), and "Archy (fire)" next to regular Archy (page 15). I didn't add the citations for the snowmads because I assumed they were named in-game. Beyond that, there are a couple of inconsistent names, such as "Large Mimic" for [[Big Mimic]] and "Yellow Snaggles" for [[Super Snaggles]], but everyone else seems to be the same. There's also a ridiculous list of names for objects and platforms, with some being really generic ("Collapsible Underwater Grass", "Purple Glass Vase"), and other being more appropriate ("Jelly Block", "Spring Platform"). I can supply the guide's images and descriptions if that interests you. Let me know if you have any other questions! {{User:Time Turner/sig}}
:I started to upload images about the subjects you asked about, but then I just decided to grab everything from the guide. Over [[User:Time Turner/unfinished#DKC:TF|here]] is a list of a substantial amount of objects from the guide, including its accompanying image (which you're free to use in articles) and its accompanying blurb (which you shouldn't use in articles; it's mostly so that you know what each object actually is). Since I don't actually own the game, I'm just throwing everything here and letting you decide how to flesh things out. I haven't even started on the various item containers and hazards, but one thing at a time. From what you asked about specifically:
*The watermelon bomb is a "Watermelon Fuse Bomb", as seen in the list.
*The green pufferfish aren't given specific names as far as I can tell, but I included all the blurbs about Fugu's accompanying enemies.
*The water balloon is a "Water Sack", as seen in the list.
*Could you elaborate a bit more on "the objects that reveal collectables"?
*Nothing about the Bouncy Tuck, though it'd be a great help if you could list which levels it appears in.
*No mention of a fish in Twilight Terror.
*As far as I can tell, they're just "portals".
:Again, let me know if there's something else! {{User:Time Turner/sig}}
== Wii U Images ==
Lately I have been working on a page about uploading good screenshots and learned that it is possible to use the Wii U's built-in web browser to upload screenshots to MarioWiki directly instead of using [[Miiverse]]. See [[User:Wildgoosespeeder/sandbox#Wii U Direct Upload|here]]. I bring it up because you recently uploaded [[:File:Gadd&Ghosts SMM.jpg]]; a 800x450 image. You can just select ''Upload a new version of this file'' without needing to make edits to the pages that reference the file. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 17:44, 11 February 2016 (EST)

The correct color scheme would be [[User:Wildgoosespeeder/sandbox#Virtual Boy]] (this needs verification though but I can guarantee that the colors are 4 shades of red). Also if you did create the screenshot yourself, what emulator did you use? Leave a comment [[User talk:Wildgoosespeeder/sandbox|here]]. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 17:38, 17 February 2016 (EST)

== What's in a name, part 2 ==
Sorry for the delay, but I'm more than happy to help you out! It isn't a bother to look for info whenever you need me to, so don't worry about that. I've updated my list [[User:Time Turner/unfinished|on my user subpage]] with every container listed in the guide, but to directly answer your questions:
*"The purple bulb" is listed as "Purple Bulb"
*"This treasure chest" is listed as "Treasure Chest"
*"The clam" is listed as "Giant Clam"
*"a barrel that looks like a chest" is listed as "Dilapidated Barrel"
*"A fish basket" isn't listed at all, and it doesn't seem to be mentioned in the section about Current Capers
*"A simple wooden container" is listed as "Wooden Canister with Metal Lid"; yes, that's word-for-word
Technically, the majority of these are pluralized in the guide, but it's functionally the same thing. Unfortunately, the fish isn't mentioned in that level either. The guide only mentions things if they're relevant to collecting puzzle pieces or kong letters. It also isn't listed in the section about hazards, which also includes things like "Carnivorous Plantlife" and "Electrified Anemones" (I can start uploading images and descriptions now if you want me to). Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with! {{User:Time Turner/sig}}
:I'm a fan of your writing. It's true that it shouldn't get too long-winded or overly descriptive, but there's also something to be said for writing something that actually captivates people. As you said, it's important to strike a balance between informative and interesting, and I think you've done a good job of that so far. However, I do have a concern with the container article: the scope of the article seems rather vague, which could set it up for a large amount of overlap with various other containers from other series, such as [[Crate]] or [[Barrel]]. If you want to limit the articles to the DKCR and DKCTF objects, you may want to make that clearer in the intro. As for the Carnivorous Plantlife, it's part of a separate category, distinct from the enemies. As the intro section puts it, "To be clear, this entire game is a hazard, so this section will only mention the reoccurring hazards that can be quite painful to encounter." I've updated my [[User:Time Turner/unfinished|user subpage]] with the listed hazards; leaf through it and see if there's anything worth using in the wiki. Personally, the hazards seem distinct enough to warrant separate articles, but I'll leave that up to you. {{User:Time Turner/sig}}

[[Special:ListFiles/{{PAGENAME}}|Nice uploads]]. Only question is where did they come from? I would like to know because I would like to put them in a main article (if one exists) and/or new category to make the images easier to track. == Question regarding edit ==
Hello Super Radio! It's been a while since we've talked, have you been well? I've been seeing a lot of great edits coming from you lately, great work. But I had had a question about [http://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Trench_Tuck&diff=next&oldid=1994158 this], did you intend to remove the image from the infobox? It would now be left unused, otherwise.
{{User:YoshiKong/sig}} 16:40, 15 August 2016 (EDT)
:Not a problem, thanks for using that image! I've never played ''Tropical Freeze'', perhaps some time in the future when I manage to purchase a Wii U. I hope you manage to find a correct image. Thanks again for your contributions!

== Warning ==
{{warning|2=being disrespectful and condescending towards a staff member, expressing severe hostility over changes to an article}}
Your talk page message to Yoshi876 [http://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=User_talk:Yoshi876&oldid=2050976#Hey here] was ''incredibly'' rude and disrespectful. This is no way to speak to a trusted member of staff, especially over an issue which could have been discussed through a [[MarioWiki:Courtesy#Undo|more civilized and less aggressive manner]]. And suggesting that Yoshi876 "gets to work" on other articles is also extremely discourteous, and was not necessary for the matter which you had brought up with him.
For the record, the rewrite of [[Metalhead]] by Yoshi876 was following our standards established at [[MarioWiki:Good writing]]. For instance: '''Padding''' was seen in the sentence ''"as they continue to walk in the desired direction for a short time, after which they stop, scrutinize the area like before, and try to hunt down Wario again"''. This sentence was completely unnecessary, as you were simply repeating what was already stated. And instead of writing ''"If the main character walks close enough[...]"'', just say "Wario" or "the player". '''Epic writing''' in your article was very clear in sentences like ''"Metalheads are as unruly and wild as their appearance tells."'' Don't write things like this, just describe their appearance and behavior using plain and professional language, free of personal assertions.
As for the example you gave Yoshi876 regarding the work you've done on the [http://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Rocky_Wrench_(Super_Mario_Galaxy)&oldid=1959558 Rocky Wrench] article, there are many similar issues as well with your choice of language:
*''"trench soldiers"''
*''"The warfare-trained moles"''
*''"the mole grunt"''
*''"hero plumbers"''
Instead of these '''flowery''' and over-the-top adjectives and descriptions, just use the name of the enemy or character, again in plain language.
As a final note, remember that this is a ''wiki''. <u>Anyone</u> can come along and modify what you have written. Any work you submit here is [[MarioWiki:General disclaimer|not owned by you]], and you cannot become pretentious or hostile towards users who ''validly'' change something. Thank you.

== DKCTF ==
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, I was occupied by the holidays and some other work. In any case, here's what I could find:
*For the cannons in Blurry Flurry, they aren't mentioned at all, while the snowballs are merely called "snowballs". (Page 225: "Once you’re safely past the nearby snowballs, adjust your position to fly through the O on your way to the next area.")
*For the ice dragons, they are introduced as "dragon-shaped ice projectiles" and are consistently referred to as "ice dragons" afterwards. (Page 252: "In addition to launching frozen minions into the air, he can use his horn to send dragon-shaped ice projectiles crashing down onto your platform. After these ice dragons fly out of his horn, watch the top of your screen.")
*For the fish, there's no mention of it at all, not even a "don't jump into the pond" warning.
*For the snowflakes, they are simply called "snowflakes". (Page 228: "As you move through this stage, take care to avoid the large snowflakes floating through the air. These slow-moving obstacles move along predetermined paths. Whenever possible, take a moment to observe a cluster of snowflakes before you attempt to slip past them.")
I wish I could have helped more, but I hope that this at least helps you! {{User:Time Turner/sig}} 13:28, 3 January 2017 (EST)

Hi there, Super Radio. I would like to ask if you could not continue making ''Virtual Boy Wario Land'' articles for the time being? I was currently working on a lot of drafts and sprite-ripping/screenshots outside of the wiki, most of which were almost complete. Thanks for your understanding.
{{User:Shokora/sig}} 07:29, 4 January 2017 (EST)
:No worries. It's been on my mind for a while now, and I've finally got around to researching and planning the project. About [[Horned Toady]], I think the second paragraph is suitable and written very well: descriptive yet concise. Although if I may suggest: in the first paragraph "sport" would be better written as "have", and "locomotion" should just simply say "they can be found skipping, and will change direction[...]". Otherwise, it's very good. So well done.

Honestly, I made that page six years ago so I couldn't tell you where I got the names. I can confidently say that I did not make them up myself. I wouldn't do that. Sorry. {{User:DKPetey99/sig}}
== DKCR3D ==
Thank you for the information! I'll be sure to start updating the wiki as soon as I have the chance. Iirc, there are a few other names I can upload, but from quickly rereading the guide, I can safely say that none of the Chomp subspecies are given names. All of them are broadly called "Chomps". At best, the enemy bio describes two of the subspecies ("You can jump on top of the shooting Chomps to dispose of them. The biting Chomps can only be defeated by using barrels."), but the terms are too generic to be properly used as names. {{User:Time Turner/sig}} 00:36, 18 June 2017 (EDT)
:I am so, so sorry for not getting back to you sooner, and the same goes for your previous message. Hi. == Re:Japanese names + DK Jr. ==
I got around to it, as well as the enemies and items named via [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=As3Du3dJS2k&t=1m10s in-game] [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2N_WX4lUp4&t=3m20s collectibles] (though there are still some left that are probably in that guide, but that's all I can do for now). By the way, I've been meaning to mention this, so I figure I'll quickly bring it up here: about [[Stage Extra]]. That's a really cool find! Browsing through the AtariAge forums, though, I think I know why it's just so obscure – the version with that extra stage was never released. From what I can gather (not 100% sure), Coleco also wanted to add a new stage to their ''Donkey Kong'' port to take advantage of the hardware space, but Nintendo objected in the middle of development, and this is supposedly a turning point where they decided to become more protective of their IPs. The five-screen Coleco Adam version is a prototype that apparently has unfinished collision detection. So I've been thinking, the article should probably be repurposed into a "List of Donkey Kong Junior pre-release and unused content" article since it's technically unreleased content. I guess [https://tcrf.net/Donkey_Kong_Jr.#Unused_Graphics this] can be added to it so it's not just one subject? [[User:LinkTheLefty|LinkTheLefty]] ([[User talk:LinkTheLefty|talk]]) 10:22, 10 July 2017 (EDT)
:You can see the new article [[List of Donkey Kong Jr. pre-release and unused content|here]]. TCRF has even more arcade content, but I'm not big on copying their stuff, so I credited the images to them and added an external link so anyone interested can go read more over there for now. The reason it took so long is because I couldn't find a good source to fully validate the claims of that user at AtariAge - it's definitely a prototype, so that matches, but as far as the reasons for the cancellation and the fifth board in ''Donkey Kong'', we've only got his word for it and I've no idea how authoritative it is. ::Well hey, thanks again for contributing the information in the first place! I would probably have never looked into it, much less known about it, if I hadn't come across it. As for ''DKC3: Barrel Blastapalooza'', my suggestion is to make it its own article since there's no harm in that, and maybe add a mention in ''Donkey Kong Country 3'' and related articles since it seems to be a promotional thing. Are you trying to include the unused content? It's probably obscure and small enough that it could just be its own section like a few of those other pre-release pages. You could try asking Glowsquid or Shokora or someone else to see how they'd prefer to have it organized. As long as it's official (which it looks like from the sound of it), it's certainly good enough to have somewhere. == ''Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze'' levels ==
Hi, I don't mean to be edit sniping or anything, but could you please tell me your plan for finishing the articles on the ''[[Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze]]'' subjects? I'm just wondering because I want to complete the remaining articles for the levels in that game (having '''''just''''' finished the articles on levels in ''[[Super Mario Maker]]''). {{User:Toadette the Achiever/sig}} 14:02, 15 July 2017 (EDT)
== Page numbers ==
I got all of that sorted out! I needed a break from the historical articles, anyways. However, if you'll bear with me for a moment, I'd like to inform you about some editing rules and other standards that you should follow:
*The order of categories on pages is [[MarioWiki:Categories#Order on pages|kind of ambiguous]], but something that's certain is that all game-related categories go at the bottom of the page and are then arranged alphabetically. For example, with [[Carnivorous Plant]], [[:Category:Plants]] goes at the top, followed by [[:Category:Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Enemies]].
*[[MarioWiki:Categories#Placement on articles|Along those lines]], it's unnecessary for every applicable category to be placed on an article, only the deepest applicable category of a given tree. To use [[Purple Flower Platform]] as an example, having both [[:Category:Plants]] and [[:Category:Fruit]] is unnecessary, as Fruit is already a subcategory of plants. Likewise, this is also why [[:Category:Objects]] and [[:Category:Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze]] aren't tagged alongside [[:Category:Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Objects]].
*[[mb:threads/38774|Enemies and objects are mutually exclusive]]. This definition of an enemy has [[:Category:Enemies|already been put into place]] and applied in a majority of articles. As a result, hazardous but non-sentient objects like [[Proximity Mine]] and [[Giant Spiked Nut]] should be tagged with [[:Category:Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Objects]] and not [[:Category:Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Enemies]].
*Finally, if you ever include a direct quote from someone as a citation, use {{tem|ref quote}}. Exactly how it should be used is described in more detail on the template.
So sorry for the lecturing, but I just want to make sure that you're editing at full capacity. {{User:Time Turner/sig}} 18:02, 25 July 2017 (EDT)
:It's actually just the name of a character, but your reason sounds cooler. Really, I want everyone to succeed, and I try my best help people out whenever I can. {{User:Time Turner/sig}} 18:26, 25 July 2017 (EDT)
::Not quite, but that's the more convenient answer, so I'll just say yes. The actual character was in my signature for a while as one of my personal images, but I wanted to change things up without changing my name, and messing with my signature's colors also means that the character looked out of place. {{User:Time Turner/sig}} 18:36, 25 July 2017 (EDT)
:By the way, do you still need [[User:Time Turner/unfinished#DKC:TF|this giant list of DKC:TF stuff]] on my userpage? From the look of things, you've already made every article that there is to make. {{User:Time Turner/sig}} 20:12, 25 July 2017 (EDT)
::It's not irritating at all, really! It's just a bunch of text, and it's not like we have size limits. I like to do spring cleaning every now and then, but I definitely wouldn't get rid of it if you still needed it. I'm fine with leaving it there as long as you want. As for making articles, I haven't actually played Tropical Freeze (I don't even own it), so I couldn't advise you on what should or shouldn't get articles. I grabbed everything that was listed in from the guide, and I left the article making up to you. If you don't think they should have articles, then stick with your gut. If you do, then push forward. And yes, the citations you added are correct. {{User:Time Turner/sig}} 12:14, 26 July 2017 (EDT)

== DKCTF image ==
Hi! Regarding [[:File:MangroveCove2.PNG|this version]] of the image you uploaded: is it [[:File:Chomp eating Chimp.jpg|this image]] changed to PNG? Just letting you know that converting between JPG and PNG goes against policy, and images should be uploaded as it was from the source. Since Miiverse screenshots are JPG, the image should be a separate file (which it [[:File:Chomp eating Chimp.jpg|already is]]). {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 02:58, 27 July 2017 (EDT)
:The reason JPG-to-PNG conversion is prohibited is because it increases the image's file size without changing the image itself (as evident from the two aforementioned images: 96 kb to 472 kb). Since the images were originally JPG, converting them back shouldn't be a problem as the image quality won't be affected, and the file size should decrease back to its original size as well. Simply moving the files won't work, so I'm afraid they'd have to be reuploaded in the proper format. Sorry you went through all the trouble uploading and adding those images. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 10:15, 27 July 2017 (EDT)
::Out of curiosity, what did you use to convert them? If you'd like, I can help with the conversion process. If you just need help with deleting the 350 images, I can start from the [[:File:PunchyPaddy.PNG|earliest one]] and work my way up, unless you still need to save them first. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 22:32, 27 July 2017 (EDT)
:::Sounds good! For the original images you no longer have, it's okay if the size isn't the same as the original; just upload the re-converted JPGs anyway, and it can easily be recaptured anytime in the future. There's no rush. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 05:50, 28 July 2017 (EDT)
::::You can start uploading first; that way I know you've got the images, and there's no red-linked images on the articles. After that, I'll go ahead and delete the PNGs you've replaced. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 21:20, 28 July 2017 (EDT)
I thought you were unaware of policy and {{user|Mario jc}} got you up to speed with it or something. I only added my bit to further explain what cases go against policy. Even though against policy, no informal or [[MarioWiki:Warning policy|formal warning]] or reminder necessary this time. [[User:Wildgoosespeeder/PNG Monstrous|PNG Monstrous]] works at its most optimum for BMPs or clean-sourced PNGs. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 17:55, 30 July 2017 (EDT)

There isn't a Player's Guide for Tropical Freeze. "Player's Guide" is the name of the guides produced by Nintendo Power themselves, and they were discontinued in 2007 after the release of Super Mario Galaxy. Even if it was an honest mistake and the user meant the Prima Guide, nothing in the book that I'm holding gives any indication that the two enemies are one and the same. {{User:Time Turner/sig}} 13:33, 30 August 2017 (EDT)
== Pillars ==
I've been sitting on this for a while, and I just remembered it now: a long while back, you uploaded an image titled [[:File:Pillars.png]] featuring what you call "pillars" ''[[Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3]]'' - you even [https://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Wario_Land:_Super_Mario_Land_3&diff=next&oldid=1687419 added its entry] to the game page. However, this image only appears on the game page and its corresponding gallery, and I can't find any article that covers it. A while back, "Pillar" was the old name for the [[Column (Super Mario World)|Columns]] from ''Super Mario World'', but even then, there was no information about ''Wario Land'' on the page. Do you know if the subject of this image is being covered on the wiki or if the name of the subject is truly "Pillar"? {{User:Time Turner/sig}} 00:17, 2 September 2017 (EDT)

:Ah well. I'm still kinda tempted to make an article for them due to the official name, but it'd be too redundant. {{User:Time Turner/sig}} 18:12, 2 September 2017 (EDT)

== RE: Media ==
[[Help:Media]] isn't a policy page. They are just guidelines how to generate reasonably sized media clips. If you were able to upload without errors, it's in the correct format, because {{SITENAME}} only allows {{wp|Ogg|OGG}}. However, the extension wasn't OGA, so I fixed it, due to [[MarioWiki:Proposals/Archive/47#Discourage OGG Extension (Not Format)|a proposal passing]]. The changed extension doesn't alter file contents. The help page I linked you to will explain how to change the extension before upload. The redlink method is the easiest method. I do this sort of thing all the time with any file upload. That's how I created pages such as [[List of Donkey Kong Country media]] and [[List of Tetris Attack media]] so quickly. Many people [[Special:Upload|upload first]] then edit or create pages. It's counterintuitive at first to do it the other way around. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 14:48, 3 September 2017 (EDT)
:I created [[List of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze media]]. One issue this created is that [[Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze#Media]] is not following [[MarioWiki:Empty sections|policy]]. In situations like this, I just have only the title theme linked as well as linked on the ''list of media'' page. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 14:33, 5 September 2017 (EDT)
::There's no clearly defined {{SITENAME}} standard how to represent a fraction of the sound track. The easiest method I know is to have the title screen fill in the blank to follow the policy. Also, it's the first audio clip the player will hear from the game before they play, so it makes sense to have that audio file be linked on the main game page. However, [[List of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze media]] needs all tracks. It's also wise to link the audio tracks to the level pages, like I did with [[Zip-Line Shrine]]. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 18:09, 5 September 2017 (EDT)
:::That's another thing I look to clear up with a proposal or something. Some infoboxes don't have it and others do. Should we drop that parameter in favor of {{tem|media table}}? Standardize all templates? --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 21:08, 5 September 2017 (EDT)
::::There are some benefits to {{tem|media table}}, such as the links to the help page and Wikipedia how to play OGG. For the song/music parameter, it's accepting plain text, so you ''can'' do <code><nowiki>|song={{media table}}</nowiki></code> rather than a file embed that doesn't give any info like that. For compliance with [[MarioWiki:Courtesy|a different policy]], anyone can take on the proposal. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 14:36, 6 September 2017 (EDT)
== Nintendo Switch Screenshot Taking ==

:The Wii U wasn't entirely dependent on the image sharing service. Play game, get to the point where you want to take a screenshot, press {{button|Wiiu|home}}, navigate to [[Special:Upload]], then click the browse button. Last screen you saw before {{button|Wiiu|home}} was pushed should be there; one the size of the TV screen and the other for the gamepad. == SWF JPEG Screenshots ==
[[Special:ListFiles/{{BASEPAGENAME}}|Your uploads]] are kind of confusing for Flash games. Why aren't you using PNG but instead JPEG? I know that SVG is going to be near impossible, but PNG seems like the next best thing. I understand that some assets in the SWFs might be JPEG, but that doesn't necessarily have to mean the whole screenshot should be that way. Don't convert to PNG, as that is [[MarioWiki:Image use policy|against policy]], but you may recapture the screenshots as that is allowed, but only if you want to. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 12:55, 31 December 2017 (EST)
:There are standalone SWF players directly supplied by {{wp|Adobe Systems}}. Most games will be using vector graphics, which are often simple, which PNG can be a better format than web-ready JPEG. Photoshop also saves {{wp|EXIF}}, which can be removed (like {{wp|FastStone Image Viewer}}). PNG does have metadata as well, so use [[User:Wildgoosespeeder/PNG Monstrous|PNG Monstrous]] to not only remove such data, but get max loseless compression. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 21:21, 31 December 2017 (EST)
::I know the difference between FLA and SWF. The FLA is the source file while the SWF is like the EXE for Flash Player. I don't think that Nintendo would release the FLA. :::Adobe Flash Projector. It's a standalone SWF player that doesn't require a web browser. Think of it like a {{wp|Windows Media Player}} or {{wp|VLC media player|VLC Media Player}} for SWF files. The debug version could prove more useful than the regular version. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 14:41, 2 January 2018 (EST)
::::Like I said before, if you feel like redoing the screenshots. There is no immediate need to tag with {{tem|image-quality}} because the definition of JPEG is lossy compression, which means the quality could be better. [[nwiki:Special:MIMESearch/image/jpeg|NintendoWiki]] shows how it works if enabled. You can also do this with [[Special:MIMESearch/image/gif|GIFs]], [[Special:MIMESearch/image/png|PNGs]], and [[Special:MIMESearch/image/svg+xml|SVGs]], if you have the correct MIME type. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 11:37, 3 January 2018 (EST)

I don't think a category as Category:Mario, DK, Yoshi and Wario Game Covers is needed.

  1. It too long with a redudant titles, and are title mario related, with differnt category.

The current ones we have for the articles is fine and doesn't needed to be changed.

Hello. Out of curiosity, the level link "Underwater Mayhem" you added here, is that an official name? The level names in Virtual Boy Wario Land are referred to as numbers from what I've seen through gameplay, the manual and official sites. Where did you find this source of info?

Don't worry about any late replies, I'm a patient guy. Anyways, thanks for the info. But do you remember what YouTube video it was? If so can you please give me a link, thanks.
So, it's the following;

I got a question for you. How do you speak (really good) English, because you said on your user page that you live in Romania. Did you learn it in school or something?

--driftmaster130 (TalkEdits) 10:35, 20 January 2013 (EST)

Sorry for not responding for a while. I got a similar story. When I was ten year old, after I returned from a trip to Europe with my family, I became obsessed with world languages. Most of the time I was on the computer, I would be on Google translate. In two months, I had taught myself "a lot" of French and some German, or so I thought. And then a few years later we had to take an extra foreign lanugage in school. I picked French because I thought it would be very easy. I was like, "Hey, I am totally going to ace (That is American expression meaning "do very good in", in case you didn't know that) this!" and then within a few days I'm like, "Huh? What? I don't get any of this." Now, even though I know quite a bit of French, if someone came up to me and asked a question I would not understand. So, in a similar way I can relate to your story of how you learn English. I guess its like that with everyone when they learn a language they find it easier to understand/read than to speak.....

P.S. : Do you have any snow in Romania?

--driftmaster130 (TalkEdits) 19:17, 28 January 2013 (EST)

I LOVE SNOW!!!!! But I only like it when it actually falls and sticks to the ground for a long time, not when it falls and melts in a few seconds. I live in the USA, but I am originally from India, where we get no snow at all!!!!. That is all the personal information I will give out on the Internet :P.

P.S. : This is almost like having a pen pal! (I am a teenager as well, but I won't give out my actual age on the internet.)

P.P.S. : How did you make your signature?

I'm sorry if I angered you; I don't tell my age on the internet because I'm afraid, but it's for my own online privacy reasons. And I'm sorry for asking how you drew your signature I didn't realize that you couldn't tell...... So are we still friends?

What's in a name

They're actually called "Sea Urchins" (page 14). Also on the list: Blue Finley (page 12), Green Finley (page 13), Red Finley (page 14), and "Archy (fire)" next to regular Archy (page 15). I didn't add the citations for the snowmads because I assumed they were named in-game. Beyond that, there are a couple of inconsistent names, such as "Large Mimic" for Big Mimic and "Yellow Snaggles" for Super Snaggles, but everyone else seems to be the same. There's also a ridiculous list of names for objects and platforms, with some being really generic ("Collapsible Underwater Grass", "Purple Glass Vase"), and other being more appropriate ("Jelly Block", "Spring Platform"). I can supply the guide's images and descriptions if that interests you. Let me know if you have any other questions! Hello, I'm Time Turner.

I started to upload images about the subjects you asked about, but then I just decided to grab everything from the guide. Over here is a list of a substantial amount of objects from the guide, including its accompanying image (which you're free to use in articles) and its accompanying blurb (which you shouldn't use in articles; it's mostly so that you know what each object actually is). Since I don't actually own the game, I'm just throwing everything here and letting you decide how to flesh things out. I haven't even started on the various item containers and hazards, but one thing at a time. From what you asked about specifically:
  • The watermelon bomb is a "Watermelon Fuse Bomb", as seen in the list.
  • The green pufferfish aren't given specific names as far as I can tell, but I included all the blurbs about Fugu's accompanying enemies.
  • The water balloon is a "Water Sack", as seen in the list.
  • Could you elaborate a bit more on "the objects that reveal collectables"?
  • Nothing about the Bouncy Tuck, though it'd be a great help if you could list which levels it appears in.
  • No mention of a fish in Twilight Terror.
  • As far as I can tell, they're just "portals".
Again, let me know if there's something else! Hello, I'm Time Turner.

Wii U Images

Lately I have been working on a page about uploading good screenshots and learned that it is possible to use the Wii U's built-in web browser to upload screenshots to MarioWiki directly instead of using Miiverse. What's in a name, part 2

Sorry for the delay, but I'm more than happy to help you out! It isn't a bother to look for info whenever you need me to, so don't worry about that. I've updated my list on my user subpage with every container listed in the guide, but to directly answer your questions:

  • "The purple bulb" is listed as "Purple Bulb"
  • "This treasure chest" is listed as "Treasure Chest"
  • "The clam" is listed as "Giant Clam"
  • "a barrel that looks like a chest" is listed as "Dilapidated Barrel"
  • "A fish basket" isn't listed at all, and it doesn't seem to be mentioned in the section about Current Capers
  • "A simple wooden container" is listed as "Wooden Canister with Metal Lid"; yes, that's word-for-word

Technically, the majority of these are pluralized in the guide, but it's functionally the same thing. Unfortunately, the fish isn't mentioned in that level either. The guide only mentions things if they're relevant to collecting puzzle pieces or kong letters. It also isn't listed in the section about hazards, which also includes things like "Carnivorous Plantlife" and "Electrified Anemones" (I can start uploading images and descriptions now if you want me to). Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with! Hello, I'm Time Turner.

I'm a fan of your writing. It's true that it shouldn't get too long-winded or overly descriptive, but there's also something to be said for writing something that actually captivates people. As you said, it's important to strike a balance between informative and interesting, and I think you've done a good job of that so far. However, I do have a concern with the container article: the scope of the article seems rather vague, which could set it up for a large amount of overlap with various other containers from other series, such as Crate or Barrel. If you want to limit the articles to the DKCR and DKCTF objects, you may want to make that clearer in the intro. As for the Carnivorous Plantlife, it's part of a separate category, distinct from the enemies. As the intro section puts it, "To be clear, this entire game is a hazard, so this section will only mention the reoccurring hazards that can be quite painful to encounter." I've updated my user subpage with the listed hazards; leaf through it and see if there's anything worth using in the wiki. Personally, the hazards seem distinct enough to warrant separate articles, but I'll leave that up to you. Hello, I'm Time Turner.

Warning

Warning.svg This is a warning to stop your inappropriate behavior (being disrespectful and condescending towards a staff member, expressing severe hostility over changes to an article) on the Super Mario Wiki. Please adhere to the rules or you will be blocked from editing this site.
If you feel this warning was undeserved, you may appeal it.

Your talk page message to Yoshi876 here was incredibly rude and disrespectful. This is no way to speak to a trusted member of staff, especially over an issue which could have been discussed through a more civilized and less aggressive manner. And suggesting that Yoshi876 "gets to work" on other articles is also extremely discourteous, and was not necessary for the matter which you had brought up with him.

For the record, the rewrite of Metalhead by Yoshi876 was following our standards established at MarioWiki:Good writing. For instance: Padding was seen in the sentence "as they continue to walk in the desired direction for a short time, after which they stop, scrutinize the area like before, and try to hunt down Wario again". This sentence was completely unnecessary, as you were simply repeating what was already stated. And instead of writing "If the main character walks close enough[...]", just say "Wario" or "the player". Epic writing in your article was very clear in sentences like "Metalheads are as unruly and wild as their appearance tells." Don't write things like this, just describe their appearance and behavior using plain and professional language, free of personal assertions.

As for the example you gave Yoshi876 regarding the work you've done on the Rocky Wrench article, there are many similar issues as well with your choice of language:

  • "trench soldiers"
  • "The warfare-trained moles"
  • "the mole grunt"
  • "hero plumbers"

Instead of these flowery and over-the-top adjectives and descriptions, just use the name of the enemy or character, again in plain language.

As a final note, remember that this is a wiki. Anyone can come along and modify what you have written. Any work you submit here is not owned by you, and you cannot become pretentious or hostile towards users who validly change something. Thank you.

DKCTF

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, I was occupied by the holidays and some other work. In any case, here's what I could find:

  • For the cannons in Blurry Flurry, they aren't mentioned at all, while the snowballs are merely called "snowballs". (Page 225: "Once you’re safely past the nearby snowballs, adjust your position to fly through the O on your way to the next area.")
  • For the ice dragons, they are introduced as "dragon-shaped ice projectiles" and are consistently referred to as "ice dragons" afterwards. (Page 252: "In addition to launching frozen minions into the air, he can use his horn to send dragon-shaped ice projectiles crashing down onto your platform. After these ice dragons fly out of his horn, watch the top of your screen.")
  • For the fish, there's no mention of it at all, not even a "don't jump into the pond" warning.
  • For the snowflakes, they are simply called "snowflakes".

Hello, I'm Time Turner. 13:28, 3 January 2017 (EST)

No worries. It's been on my mind for a while now, and I've finally got around to researching and planning the project. About Horned Toady, I think the second paragraph is suitable and written very well: descriptive yet concise. Although if I may suggest: in the first paragraph "sport" would be better written as "have", and "locomotion" should just simply say "they can be found skipping, and will change direction[...]". Otherwise, it's very good. So well done.

Hello, I'm Time Turner. 00:36, 18 June 2017 (EDT)

Re:Japanese names + DK Jr.

I got around to it, as well as the enemies and items named via in-game collectibles (though there are still some left that are probably in that guide, but that's all I can do for now). By the way, I've been meaning to mention this, so I figure I'll quickly bring it up here: about Stage Extra. That's a really cool find! Browsing through the AtariAge forums, though, I think I know why it's just so obscure – the version with that extra stage was never released. From what I can gather (not 100% sure), Coleco also wanted to add a new stage to their Donkey Kong port to take advantage of the hardware space, but Nintendo objected in the middle of development, and this is supposedly a turning point where they decided to become more protective of their IPs. The five-screen Coleco Adam version is a prototype that apparently has unfinished collision detection. So I've been thinking, the article should probably be repurposed into a "List of Donkey Kong Junior pre-release and unused content" article since it's technically unreleased content. I guess this can be added to it so it's not just one subject? LinkTheLefty (talk) 10:22, 10 July 2017 (EDT)

You can see the new article here. TCRF has even more arcade content, but I'm not big on copying their stuff, so I credited the images to them and added an external link so anyone interested can go read more over there for now. The reason it took so long is because I couldn't find a good source to fully validate the claims of that user at AtariAge - it's definitely a prototype, so that matches, but as far as the reasons for the cancellation and the fifth board in Donkey Kong, we've only got his word for it and I've no idea how authoritative it is. For the time being, I've included a "better source needed" tag along the AtariAge references, so hopefully someone can come along and corroborate it. LinkTheLefty (talk) 17:50, 25 July 2017 (EDT)
Well hey, thanks again for contributing the information in the first place! I would probably have never looked into it, much less known about it, if I hadn't come across it. As for DKC3: Barrel Blastapalooza, my suggestion is to make it its own article since there's no harm in that, and maybe add a mention in Donkey Kong Country 3 and related articles since it seems to be a promotional thing. LinkTheLefty (talk) 20:50, 25 July 2017 (EDT)

It's actually just the name of a character, but your reason sounds cooler. Really, I want everyone to succeed, and I try my best help people out whenever I can. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 18:26, 25 July 2017 (EDT)
Not quite, but that's the more convenient answer, so I'll just say yes. The actual character was in my signature for a while as one of my personal images, but I wanted to change things up without changing my name, and messing with my signature's colors also means that the character looked out of place. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 18:36, 25 July 2017 (EDT)
By the way, do you still need this giant list of DKC:TF stuff on my userpage? From the look of things, you've already made every article that there is to make. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 20:12, 25 July 2017 (EDT)
It's not irritating at all, really! Hello, I'm Time Turner. 12:14, 26 July 2017 (EDT)
As you've said, we already have a Beanstalk article, and I don't think the information about the other vines would be out of place there. Simply having a DK subsection would work, no? Hello, I'm Time Turner. 18:20, 26 July 2017 (EDT)
Yep, the citations are correct. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 12:12, 27 July 2017 (EDT)

re:DKC 3 annoying hard to remember title

re "are there any similar discussions on this wiki": No.

I was aware of that game as I saw that DKVine thread. Personally I'm very interested in covering flash games on the wiki but unfortunately this stuff is so ephemeral and poorly-archived. Here's a thread on the Lost Media wiki forum's about Nintendo flash games.

Regarding the Mario Party minigames, I think they should be mentioned on the relevant minigame's page. --Glowsquid (talk) 10:50, 26 July 2017 (EDT)

1: Whenever you want. I'm not stopping anyone.

2: Yes.

3: There's enough flash games for a template. --Glowsquid (talk) 22:25, 26 July 2017 (EDT)

I simplied an unnecessarily verbose and unidiomatic bit in the lead and changed the developer to "unknown" as there's no proof for it and NOA would've most likely hired a contractor to build the website and its flash games. Otherwise it's good! --Glowsquid (talk) 19:12, 30 July 2017 (EDT)

DKCTF image

Hi! Regarding this version of the image you uploaded: is it this image changed to PNG? Just letting you know that converting between JPG and PNG goes against policy, and images should be uploaded as it was from the source. Since Miiverse screenshots are JPG, the image should be a separate file (which it already is). Rosalina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 02:58, 27 July 2017 (EDT)

The reason JPG-to-PNG conversion is prohibited is because it increases the image's file size without changing the image itself (as evident from the two aforementioned images: 96 kb to 472 kb). Rosalina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 10:15, 27 July 2017 (EDT)
Out of curiosity, what did you use to convert them? If you'd like, I can help with the conversion process. If you just need help with deleting the 350 images, I can start from the earliest one and work my way up, unless you still need to save them first. Rosalina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 22:32, 27 July 2017 (EDT)
Sounds good! For the original images you no longer have, it's okay if the size isn't the same as the original; just upload the re-converted JPGs anyway, and it can easily be recaptured anytime in the future. There's no rush. Rosalina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 05:50, 28 July 2017 (EDT)
You can start uploading first; that way I know you've got the images, and there's no red-linked images on the articles. After that, I'll go ahead and delete the PNGs you've replaced. Rosalina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 21:20, 28 July 2017 (EDT)

I thought you were unaware of policy and Mario jc (talk) got you up to speed with it or something. I only added my bit to further explain what cases go against policy. Even though against policy, no informal or formal warning or reminder necessary this time. PNG Monstrous works at its most optimum for BMPs or clean-sourced PNGs. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 17:55, 30 July 2017 (EDT)

Re: Spanish names

Mostly good! Just remember to keep the verbs in their infinitive (ending in -ir, -er, -ar) form, especially if you're going to translate them into "to jump" or "to launch."

We actually have a few native Spanish speakers here (Henry Tucayo Clay (talk) immediately comes to mind). Admittedly, Spanish is a third language for me, so I probably won't be able to understand cultural puns and references within translations as much as they do :P --Andymii (talk) 15:55, 21 August 2017 (EDT)

RE:Pufftup

There isn't a Player's Guide for Tropical Freeze. "Player's Guide" is the name of the guides produced by Nintendo Power themselves, and they were discontinued in 2007 after the release of Super Mario Galaxy. Even if it was an honest mistake and the user meant the Prima Guide, nothing in the book that I'm holding gives any indication that the two enemies are one and the same. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 13:33, 30 August 2017 (EDT)

Pillars

I've been sitting on this for a while, and I just remembered it now: a long while back, you uploaded an image titled File:Pillars.png featuring what you call "pillars" Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 - you even added its entry to the game page. However, this image only appears on the game page and its corresponding gallery, and I can't find any article that covers it. A while back, "Pillar" was the old name for the Columns from Super Mario World, but even then, there was no information about Wario Land on the page. Do you know if the subject of this image is being covered on the wiki or if the name of the subject is truly "Pillar"? Hello, I'm Time Turner. 00:17, 2 September 2017 (EDT)

MK8

I think Alex has already confirmed what I want to know, but just to be sure, are there any differences between the Piranha Plants in Electrodrome and the Piranha Plants in other levels? Hello, I'm Time Turner. 18:08, 2 September 2017 (EDT)

Ah well. I'm still kinda tempted to make an article for them due to the official name, but it'd be too redundant. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 18:12, 2 September 2017 (EDT)
Not really. The full blurb for them - "Piranha Plants: The final set of curves are guarded by massive PIranha Plants, which will try to bite at any racer who gets too close." Hello, I'm Time Turner. 18:20, 2 September 2017 (EDT)

RE: Media

Help:Media isn't a policy page. They are just guidelines how to generate reasonably sized media clips. If you were able to upload without errors, it's in the correct format, because Super Mario Wiki only allows OGG. However, the extension wasn't OGA, so I fixed it, due to a proposal passing. The changed extension doesn't alter file contents. The help page I linked you to will explain how to change the extension before upload. The redlink method is the easiest method. I do this sort of thing all the time with any file upload. That's how I created pages such as List of Donkey Kong Country media and List of Tetris Attack media so quickly. Many people upload first then edit or create pages. It's counterintuitive at first to do it the other way around. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 14:48, 3 September 2017 (EDT)

I created List of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze media. One issue this created is that Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze#Media is not following policy. In situations like this, I just have only the title theme linked as well as linked on the list of media page. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 14:33, 5 September 2017 (EDT)
There's no clearly defined Super Mario Wiki standard how to represent a fraction of the sound track. The easiest method I know is to have the title screen fill in the blank to follow the policy. Also, it's the first audio clip the player will hear from the game before they play, so it makes sense to have that audio file be linked on the main game page. However, List of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze media needs all tracks. It's also wise to link the audio tracks to the level pages, like I did with Zip-Line Shrine. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 18:09, 5 September 2017 (EDT)
That's another thing I look to clear up with a proposal or something. Some infoboxes don't have it and others do. Should we drop that parameter in favor of {{media table}}? Standardize all templates? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 21:08, 5 September 2017 (EDT)
There are some benefits to {{media table}}, such as the links to the help page and Wikipedia how to play OGG. For the song/music parameter, it's accepting plain text, so you can do |song={{media table}} rather than a file embed that doesn't give any info like that. For compliance with a different policy, anyone can take on the proposal. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 14:36, 6 September 2017 (EDT)

Nintendo Switch Screenshot Taking

Did you take File:GameOverMRKB.jpg yourself? If so, does the Nintendo Switch have the same screenshot taking ability as the Wii U? It's for my guide and the Switch section. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 19:40, 8 September 2017 (EDT)

The Wii U wasn't entirely dependent on the image sharing service. Play game, get to the point where you want to take a screenshot, press HOME Button, navigate to Special:Upload, then click the browse button. Last screen you saw before HOME Button was pushed should be there; one the size of the TV screen and the other for the gamepad. Is that capability there with the Switch as well? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 22:37, 8 September 2017 (EDT)

Mario's Meta Machine

Bowser steals a copy of Mario's Time Machine within Mario's Time Machine to stop Mario's Time Machine from ever existing, and Mario has to talk to the developers of Mario's Time Machine and help them develop Mario's Time Machine. They went so meta. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 15:26, 9 September 2017 (EDT)

❤️ Super Radio loves this

On the plus side, I know a lot about old presidents and explorers? Hello, I'm Time Turner. 15:18, 11 September 2017 (EDT)

You'd think so, but I had to go out of my way on quite a few occasions to research information because the history educational game was actually really bad at educating about history - they legitimately got several facts wrong. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 15:23, 11 September 2017 (EDT)
At some point, I started documenting the game out of a stubborn drive to prove I can. I don't even remember how I got started on the project; I guess I got really bored? And that was before I found out that the PC version had extra levels... Hello, I'm Time Turner. 15:29, 11 September 2017 (EDT)
That Twitter post's actually from the cartoon, but I have been noticed before. I'm trying to play Mario is Missing, but someone's already done a lot of the heavy lifting, so I'm not sure how much is left for me to fill up. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 15:45, 11 September 2017 (EDT)

Flash games

Yo. I remembered that message you sent me about DKC3 what's-its-name and your interest in covering official flash games, so I figured you might be interested to know users of the Lost Media Wiki forum have managed to find and archive more Mario flash games (see this page). --Glowsquid (talk) 22:51, 14 September 2017 (EDT)

It would be through a TPP, though if you want my opinion, I think making a tempalte just for flash games would make them ost sense. Like, they're games, but they're not "games games" you know? --Glowsquid (talk) 18:26, 17 September 2017 (EDT)

Tucks

Responed to the conversation. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 10:54, 2 October 2017 (EDT)

RE:MRKB pictures

Yep, I was actually thinking of that myself! My project specifically devoted to creating M+RKB levels is on hold right now, as I am waiting for Eldritchdraaks (talk) to upload more battle map images (you know, to provide a more accurate description of the levels), but feel free to work on anything else related to the game, such as, you know, List of chest locations in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Thanks! Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 15:44, 4 October 2017 (EDT)

Levels

Per MarioWiki:New articles, all levels should have their own article, even DK94 and Mario vs. DK levels. Rosalina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 06:27, 22 October 2017 (EDT)

That would have to be the case if we're to split them, unfortunately. I'll admit, I had no idea one of the worlds was featured. Rosalina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 07:14, 22 October 2017 (EDT)

Redirects

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't redirects supposed to be in uppercase? It's why my redirect PEotGMCE was moved to PEOTGMCE, after all.... Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:43, 23 October 2017 (EDT)

Time

As a heads-up, all signatures require a timestamp. This is easily done by using four tildes (~~~~); the timestamp gets stapled to the end of your regular signature. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 15:06, 23 October 2017 (EDT)

Yep, them's the rules. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 15:08, 23 October 2017 (EDT)

Ruined Dragon

The Ruined Dragon is named as such in the game's music list. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 11:20, 9 November 2017 (EST)

And you've already moved it back, so never mind me.Hello, I'm Time Turner. 11:20, 9 November 2017 (EST)
It happens from time to time. Just take it in stride. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 11:21, 9 November 2017 (EST)

RE: Featured article--help?

I am so sorry for getting back to you so late, I haven't logged in for a while. I've managed to put the time, and it works fine, and looking at what you did I have absolutely no idea what you did wrong. Perhaps the template was just glitching for a few moments. Yoshi876 (talk)

Absolutely. I think you're allowed to in 2 months time. Yoshi876 (talk)

SWF JPEG Screenshots

Your uploads are kind of confusing for Flash games. Why aren't you using PNG but instead JPEG? I know that SVG is going to be near impossible, but PNG seems like the next best thing. I understand that some assets in the SWFs might be JPEG, but that doesn't necessarily have to mean the whole screenshot should be that way. Don't convert to PNG, as that is against policy, but you may recapture the screenshots as that is allowed, but only if you want to. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 12:55, 31 December 2017 (EST)

There are standalone SWF players directly supplied by Adobe Systems. Most games will be using vector graphics, which are often simple, which PNG can be a better format than web-ready JPEG. Photoshop also saves EXIF, which can be removed (like FastStone Image Viewer). PNG does have metadata as well, so use PNG Monstrous to not only remove such data, but get max loseless compression. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 21:21, 31 December 2017 (EST)
I know the difference between FLA and SWF. The FLA is the source file while the SWF is like the EXE for Flash Player. I don't think that Nintendo would release the FLA. What I am referring to is Adobe Flash Projector, maybe with content debug. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 10:46, 2 January 2018 (EST)
Adobe Flash Projector. It's a standalone SWF player that doesn't require a web browser. Think of it like a Windows Media Player or VLC Media Player for SWF files. The debug version could prove more useful than the regular version. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 14:41, 2 January 2018 (EST)
Like I said before, if you feel like redoing the screenshots. There is no immediate need to tag with {{image-quality}} because the definition of JPEG is lossy compression, which means the quality could be better. Before Porplemontage (talk) disabled it, you could easily search JPEGs like this. Maybe I can convince him to re-enable it for this purpose. NintendoWiki shows how it works if enabled. You can also do this with GIFs, PNGs, and SVGs, if you have the correct MIME type. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 11:37, 3 January 2018 (EST)
