(HP to 5, not 50. Excellent point)
(added a mention that this does put Mario or his partner into Peril, which could help people understand the actual use case of this better beyond the star power bonus without being TOO walkthrough-y)

Lowering the player to one HP could offer an opportunity for a Mega Rush (P) Strategy, but this strategy hits a roadblock because the FP is lowered to 0. Some people ignore this and just don't use attacks that consume Flower Points. Others use Sweet Treat or Sweat Feast to bring their FP up (however, they have to be careful not to up their HP unless they want to use Power Rush instead, in which they can up their HP to 5). There are many strategies for using Trial Stew, but the casual player will probably have no use for this.

Trial Stew is a unique item in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario. If used, it lowers one's HP to one and FP to zero, immediately putting them into Peril, but completely fills Star Power. Unlike other recipes, its in-game description is written sarcastically, describing it as "amazing" and its results "incredible," without noting that some of said effects are negative.

In Super Paper Mario, the Trial Stew reduces the player to one HP, but increases their point total by an amount equal the amount of HP lost times 100 (to a maximum of 99800 if the player has 999 HP before using it).
