Upward Mobility is a Free-for-All minigame in Mario Party 9. Its name is derived from a term that refers to social mobility.
Introduction[edit]
The camera shows the goal cloud. Then, it pans down to the ground, where the captain is, and it splits into four screens.
Gameplay[edit]
The players must jump on the Jump Blocks (from New Super Mario Bros. Wii) and Empty Blocks to reach the goal, a cloud with a rainbow. For most of the game, the checkered Jump Blocks appear in pairs, but toward the end, there are some that appear singularly. The player who reaches the goal first wins.
To achieve the bonus objective in Time Attack, the player must not jump on the same block twice.
In-game text[edit]
- Rules – "Use the Jump Blocks to bounce up to the goal high above the clouds!"
- Controls – "Hold the Wii Remote sideways. Press
to move and
to jump."
