Yoshi, the Web Pet (also written without the comma)[2] is a browser game published by Nintendo in 1998 to promote Yoshi's Story. It required an Nsider account to play.[2] The game was not preserved, and it is currently lost.

Gameplay[edit]

Yoshi, the Web Pet is a virtual pet game in which the player had to take care of a virtual Yoshi known as a "Yoshi Web Pet".[2] The player would start by giving a Yoshi a name and picking its color (green, blue, red, or yellow).[2][3] They then would have to take care for their Yoshi and increase its happiness by playing with it, doing exercise, or feeding it food.[4] Each Yoshi had a different Lucky Fruit which, when fed to one, increased the Yoshi's happiness more than a normal fruit.[4] The amount of fitness, hunger, and happiness was shown using the Smile Meter from Yoshi's Story, and would change as a result of the Yoshi's activities.[4] If the meter was full and the player did an activity, the Yoshi would become annoyed at them.[4] The Yoshi also had an age, which increased by one year every day.[4] A Yoshi's Story fun fact was shown every time the player did changes to their Yoshi.[4] There was also a leaderboard where players could compete to raise the best Yoshi.[1]
