Koshas[1], referred to as Clubbies in the Versus Books and Prima Games guides[2][3] and Viking Kremlings in the BradyGAMES guide[4], are small, olive-skin Kremlings which only appear in Donkey Kong 64. Although they are small, Koshas are formidable, and they wear a gray viking helmet and carry around a large weapon with spikes. Their name plays on the word "cosh," another name for club.
Koshas appear in four levels: Gloomy Galleon, Fungi Forest (at night), Crystal Caves, and Creepy Castle. Three Koshas also appear in the lobby to Creepy Castle. They struggle to carry around their heavy weapon, which they try to smash the Kongs with. If the active Kong gets squished by Kosha's weapon, they lose two melon slices of their health. If a Kosha swings its club overhead and misses the Kong, it struggles lifting its club for a few seconds; in this regard, they are similar to Kutlasses from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. If a Kong throws an orange at a Kosha as it notices, the Kosha will whack the orange away with its weapon, rendering it ineffective.
Koshas can withstand most attacks due to their helmet. The Kongs can only defeat them by either using their instrument move, their shockwave ability, by Chunky Kong hitting them while under the effect of Hunky Chunky, or if they throw an orange at Kosha while it is off-guard. When a Kosha gets defeated, it yells as it falls, then its weapon hits its head.
Koshas drop two melon slices when they are defeated. They are the only enemy that both requires a special move to defeat and releases melon slices from being defeated. Other enemies that can only be defeated by special move (such as Klump) release three oranges when defeated.
Koshas have an idle animation where they accidentally drop their club onto their head, slightly flattening them.
A gigantic Kosha is stationed near the top of Crystal Caves. It periodically smashes the ceiling of the cave, creating violent tremors that send stalactites raining down in the level. Tiny Kong must fight it to stop the stalactites from falling.
