Dead-end drums[1] (or simply drums[2][3]) are solid objects in Wrecking Crew that cannot be demolished. They are mostly used as a way to block a path.
Dead-end drums can be dropped on enemies or players by breaking the pillar beneath to permanently trap them inside (including Foreman Spike). If the player gets trapped inside the drum, the phase needs to be restarted. Players and enemies are capable of walking on drums; however, it can lead to them getting stuck.
Dead-end drums reappear in the Wrecking Crew stage in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the latter of which refers to them as oil drums.[4] Fighters can get trapped inside them in a similar manner to the original game, which leaves them vulnerable to opponents. The oil drum can be broken if the fighter wriggles around, an opponent launches them out, or if a floor above it falls on top of it.
