Click-Clacks first appear in ''[[Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest]]''. In this game, the insects are fairly common enemies, appearing in several [[level]]s. Click-Clacks are quite durable; they are capable of surviving after being [[jump]]ed on. Once jumped on, they remain defenseless, as it takes only one jump to knock them on their backs. While in this state, Click-Clacks can either be jumped on again to be defeated or be picked up and used as a projectile weapon against other enemies. Eventually, a Click-Clack that has been flipped on its back will manage to turn right-side up once more. A Click-Clack can be instantly defeated by using either [[Diddy Kong]]'s [[Cartwheel Attack|cartwheel attack]] or by having [[Dixie Kong|Dixie]] use a ground-based [[Helicopter Spin]].

In this game, Click-Clacks act almost identically to their portrayal in ''Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest'', with only one difference affecting gameplay. In ''Donkey Kong Land 2'', after jumping on a Click-Clack, the player will still have the ability to control the [[Kong]]s in midair; this is not the case in ''Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest'' &mdash; here, the Kongs will experience minor knock-back after jumping on a Click-Clack.

Click-Clacks are blue beetle enemies that appear in both Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2.

History

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

Click-Clacks first appear in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. They are common enemies and appear in several levels in every world (except The Flying Krock and the Lost World.

Like most enemies, Click-Clacks move around in a set pattern. Click-Clacks have some durability, as shown from if Diddy or Dixie Kong jump on one, it falls on its back undefeated. While it is in this state, the Click-Clack is defenseless, allowing the Kongs to jump on it again to defeat it. However, after a few seconds from falling on its back, the Click-Clack hops back onto its feet and continues moving around. Click-Clacks can instantly be defeated from either Diddy's Cartwheel Attack or Dixie's Helicopter Spin, or by throwing a barrel or kannonball at them.

In the game's sequel, Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble, Click-Clacks seem to have been succeeded by the yellow Knik-Knaks, who behave similarly to Click-Clack.

Donkey Kong Land 2

Click-Clacks make their second appearance in Donkey Kong Land 2. Here, Click-Clacks behave almost identically to their first appearance aside from one minor difference: if either Diddy or Dixie jump on a Click-Clack, the player can move them as they bounce back in midair. Click-Clacks appear in fewer levels than in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.

DK: King of Swing / DK: Jungle Climber

Click-Clacks make a reappearance in DK: King of Swing and its sequel DK: Jungle Climber, where they patrol around Peg Boards. They cannot be attacked from the front, as this makes their pincers injure Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong.
