Weathervanes[1] are bird-shaped mechanisms that first appear in Wario World, where they are found exclusively in Pecan Sands. If Wario attacks one, it will whip up a whirlwind and cause him to spiral upward. This allows Wario to reach high ledges he would not be able to otherwise.

In Mario Superstar Baseball, weathervanes reappear as an obstacle in Wario Palace. If the baseball lands near one, it will create a whirlwind and hurl the ball in a random direction.
