Gloomy Gulch is the fifth area that Diddy and Dixie Kong travel through in their quest to save Donkey Kong in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2. Gloomy Gulch as the name says is extremely gloomy and creepy area covered in fog and inhabited by a large number of ghosts such as Kloaks, the area is also surrounded by spooky woods. A haunted house filled with skeletal Kremling ghosts called Kackles is nestled in a clearing near the start of this area, there is also a small Zinger hive nearby that is oddly shaped like a hut. Since the area is so high up on Crocodile Isle it has severe gusts of wind that can blow around even monkeys. Compared to the areas that came before it (Krem Quay and Krazy Kremland) Gloomy Gulch is actually quite small. At the end of Donkey Kong Country 2, Gloomy Gulch, along with the rest of Crocodile Isle sinks into the sea.

In Donkey Kong Land 2, Gloomy Gulch is raised back to the surface with rest of Crocodile Isle by Kaptain K. Rool. Like most of the other areas in the game, Gloomy Gulch has been partially decimated by being underwater for such a long time. At the end of Donkey Kong Land 2 Gloomy Gulch and Crocodile Isle once again sink into the ocean. In Donkey Kong Land 2 Klubba's Kiosk is located next to Gloomy Gulch on the game's overworld map on the left. Also the level, Haunted Hall gets replaced by a new level called Krazy Koaster. This may have been done, likely due to system limitations.
