Turbo-bashable doors[1] are double doors rarely found throughout Super Mario Sunshine. Although Mario is normally unable to break through them, this is easily accomplished by starting up a super dash with the Turbo Nozzle from a fair distance in front of the gates. A few Turbo-bashable doors appear in Delfino Plaza. The bell tower in the southwest corner has Turbo-bashable doors with the Shine Sprite of Turbo Dash! The police station also has Turbo-bashable doors in front of it, and breaking them grants access to Turbo Track. Lastly, Turbo-bashable doors are embedded in one of the platforms near the shore and the lighthouse and have a blue coin behind it. The only Turbo-bashable doors not in Delfino Plaza are the two up the small structure within the Delfino Airstrip, where Mario can return later on to break through the building and find a blue coin concealed in a block of ice.

There is a lengthy glitch involving these doors in the airstrip. The player must complete Bianco Hills and unlock the Turbo Nozzle, all the while without saving the game. They must then lose a life with zero more lives, get a Game Over, and restart the game. This allows the player to use the Turbo Nozzle when they first enter the airstrip. Although it can be used in this area, touching, or even dashing toward, the Turbo-bashable doors here causes the game to crash.[2]
