The 'Shroom:Issue 212/Fun Stuff
Director's Notes
Written by: Meta Knight (talk)
Hey, I'm not a flower! Roserade (talk) asked me to take over this team for the month, so here I am tending their garden with this fun stuff! We have a lot to offer you from our regulars, and what a fantastic team being able to send me their sections promptly.
Mario & Luigi: Brothership is fresh off the shelves, and we've already got some themed sections to celebrate. Waluigi Time's (talk) Hiding Koopa and MarioMorty's (talk) Crossword are both centered around this newest release, and BBQ Turtle (talk) cooked up her Anagrams around a Mario & Luigi fan favorite.
Speaking of recent releases, Super Mario Party Jamboree also came out about a month ago, so FunkyK38 (talk) has constructed a case for you to solve in Where in the Marioverse is Carmen Sandiego?. If you're more into a blast to the past, then see if you can solve ViableBunnyBudd's hint art from a classic Mario game.
Finally, Shoey (talk) has provided his usual staples of Word Search and Trivia. The former is sure to roll into your interest, as it's all about Poké Balls, and the latter surely has at least one piece of information you'd like to learn about.
So what are you waiting for? Start playing the activities featured here in Fun Stuff, and if you'd like to create your own, then come talk to me or another person in the 'Shroom Staff! We'd love to help get your creative works featured for others to enjoy.
Section of the Month
MarioMorty's (talk) mysterious Crossword was a smash-hit with our readers, taking over 1st place! Congratulations! We also had some close runner-ups with Waluigi Time's (talk) spooky-themed Hiding Koopa earning 2nd, and a three-way tie for third with Waluigi Time's Musical Quiz tailored to Anton's (talk) tastes, a banana-tastic edition of Where in the Marioverse is Carmen Sandiego? by FunkyK38 (talk), and ViableBunnyBudd's page-turner of a Hint Art. A special thank you to everyone else who submitted something fun for people to do here, we genuinely appreciate every section.

Anagrams
Written by: BBQ Turtle (talk)
Hi all, welcome to November's edition of anagrams! Seeing as we've just had the new Mario & Luigi game come out, I thought I'd use that as inspiration for my theme this month! But don't worry, there are no spoilers for the new game here- we're going for Bowser's Inside Story! So all of your anagrams are going to be coming from that game- let's see if you can find a way into the answers! If you fancy suggesting any more spoiler free themes for future sections, please let me know on my talk page or in a PM to me on the forums, and I'll be sure to find a way to use it- alongside any other fun Mario anagrams you can come across. OK, now find your way into the answers section- when you know what they are, of course!
How it works...
Basically, this puzzle consists of solving the anagrams. Each month has a specific theme, which will give you a clue about what sort of words or phrases the anagrams will be. I've also included the boxes that the anagrams will fit into, so you'll be able to tell how many words it will solve to be and how many letters will be in each word, which should give you a hand too. You'll also notice that within each set of boxes, one of the squares are yellow. As you solve each anagram, note down the letter which appears in the yellow squares, and if you can solve all of the anagrams, you'll also get a bonus anagram to solve from completing all of the others. I've included the letter configuration for this one at the bottom too, just to give you an extra helping hand. Best of luck!
1. POLLOCK PAN PAR ROAR
2. LOST WAR
3. A HUB COMBO
4. WOODED LIMB
5. OUR MOB ENQUIRES
6. GENTRY USAGE
7. MILD BUZZ DISBAR
8. UM VOCAL BUCK
9. RAT CURSE
10. GNOME BOIL
11. LOADED TRY
12. FEW FLAX PURSES
Bonus anagram:
- Corporal Paraplonk
- Starlow
- Chuboomba
- Dimble Wood
- Broque Monsieur
- Sergeant Guy
- Blizzard Midbus
- Vacuum Block
- Star Cure
- Emoglobin
- Dr. Toadley
- Fawful Express
Bonus anagram: Private Goomp
Word Search
Hello and welcome to another Word Search, everyone's third favorite word based Fun Stuff section. I've been thinking a lot about Poke Balls for totally not Shroom related reasons. Definitely not related to a Fake News section this month no sir. So this month's Word Search is all about Poke Balls, specifically my favorite Poke Balls. And yes before you ask I did snub the Repeat Ball on purpose because it's a stupid garbage trash Poke Ball! Words can be found Horizontally, Vertically, Diagonally, and Backwards. As always have fun and stay safe!
Crossword
Written by: MarioMorty (talk)
Hello everyone, welcome back to Crosswords. I'm MarioMorty and this month with the release of Brothership- I decided to make this one about some of the most notable characters throughout the franchise. Not much else for me besides a spoiler warning, because this puzzle will contain some characters from Brothership. But with that word of warning, I will bow out and let everyone enjoy the puzzle!
Hiding Koopa
Written by: Waluigi Time (talk)
Hello there, 'Shroom readers! Mario & Luigi is back! Nice to see that Nintendo didn't just abandon the series after AlphaDream went bankrupt, because it sure seemed like they were going to. Anyway, you know what's about to happen. Five Koopa Troopas are hiding in this artwork from Mario & Luigi: Brothership! Hopefully this won't be so challenging that you need a second person to help you out.
Thanks for playing! Did you find them all?
Hint Art
Written by: ViableBunnyBudd
Hello again 'Shroom readers, unless this is your first issue, in which case... Hello 'Shroom readers. I've made another Hint Art, but this time with a very special gimmick… no gimmick at all!
So here's how it works: I have picked a location somewhere in the game. This is NOT the location of an existing star in the game; it is a custom location! I then made some art that abstractly represents this location in some way. It is now up to you, the reader, to decipher what this art means and to grab this imaginary star at this location! It's just like the rules of the Hint Arts from Super Mario Odyssey, only it's done for other 3D Marios. Most of these will be ground-pound stars like in Odyssey, but if I'm feeling creative I might have these imaginary stars in the air or activated by punching a wall.
I got a little experimental with some 3D tools this time. I kinda like how it turned out.
GAME: Super Mario 64
STAR TYPE: Ground Pound
Hmm… where can you find rainbows again?
"Centerpoint located. Ground Pound initiated."
You may have to switch your way of thinking.
Thanks for playing, unless you didn't!
Where in the Marioverse is Carmen Sandiego?
HOW TO PLAY
Each issue, you will be given a case to solve and clues to use to help you find the solution! Use your Mario knowledge to crack the case! You will begin each case at the scene of the crime, and you will be given three clues from passerby as to where the next hot spot is and what game it’s from. Using your knowledge of Mario games and the Super Mario Wiki, figure out where the crook is and go track them down! There are four locations each round: the crime scene (1) at the start, two locations (2 and 3) with clues, and the hideout for the crook of the month (4). Answers for locations will be given with the corresponding round, for example, the clues from the crime scene will lead you to location 2, and once you open the spoiler bubbles for location 2, you will be given the correct answer. You can open the clues for each location in any order you’d like, but be careful! You may encounter an incorrect clue that could throw you off the case! Clues offered will give you a hint either about the next location or the game it’s in. Unlike a regular Carmen Sandiego game, you do not have to collect information about the crook you are tracking down. Challenge round (optional): -Find all locations and games correctly in two minutes or less -Find all locations and games correctly without using the rest of the Wiki for help |
“A new request for your services has come in, gumshoe! As you may know, Super Mario Party Jamboree has recently been released to the world, and among all of the minigames are the rhythm games. These rhythm games are all cooking-themed, and one of them, Short-Stack Chef, involves cooking pancakes. The Toad team responsible for storing all the equipment used for the minigames has reported that the pancake pans used for this minigames have been stolen! Our pancake-loving thief has put this minigame out of business, gumshoe, and we need you to track down those pans before the next party starts! No one wants to go without delicious pancakes, so get to it before this party goes flatter than a flapjack!”
