“Mario, this tree got sick, so the four guys that were here before left to find some sort of... tree medicine. They said they needed to find some flower called a Rainbow Carnation. Its pollen supposedly brings plants back to life! But they said it only grows in super-dangerous, high-up, hard-to-reach places. I'm sure they'll be fine though.”

The Rainbow Carnation is a flower that appears in Paper Mario: Color Splash. It grows in Marmalade Valley and can restore dead plants. After the blue Big Paint Star is found, Piper's tree becomes sick, and Piper's Toad friends (besides Yella) go to Marmalade Valley to find the Rainbow Carnation. When they return, the tree has rainbow flowers blooming on it. Yella says that Piper has died and the flowers wilt off. A seed drops from the tree, and opens to reveal Piper again.
