“Well, hello there! I'm what you might call the crate guy! The crates come in off the boats, and I deal with 'em. You look like you could deal with a few crates yourself!”
Crate guy, Super Mario Sunshine

The crate guy is a minor character in Super Mario Sunshine. He is a tan Pianta with glasses. The crate guy owns a small, crate-filled shop on Delfino Plaza, near the Shine Gate. At the very beginning of the game, he can be seen by the fountain where Noki Bay's entrance would later be located, while his shop remains closed.

When Mario enters the crate guy's shop, the crate guy presents him with a challenge: If Mario can successfully destroy every crate within 30 seconds, he earns a prize, more specifically a Shine Sprite.[1] If Mario wins, the crate guy rearranges the crates and gives Mario a slightly harder challenge if he returns,[2] with the reward being another Shine Sprite.[3]
