Plurps (also spelled Plirps),[1] also known as Coo Coos,[2][3] are large chicken-like enemies appearing only in Super Mario Sunshine. Each of them has two beady green eyes and a star on its belly. Plurps are first seen in Bianco Hills, where they fly around aimlessly and drop splotches of goop whenever they get near Mario. They later appear in Episode 3 of Pianta Village, where they drop burning goop. Plurps can be defeated by jumping on them or by spraying them to the ground with FLUDD. Each spray causes a Plurp to release several coins and eventually drop a 1-Up Mushroom.
In Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, the name "Plurp" appears on the leaderboards of the Lakitu Star Cup, Peach's Invitational, and Bowser Championship tournaments.
A variety of this enemy called Cluckbooms appears in Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. They behave similarly but drop explosive bombs instead of goop.
