Clapper, also written as Klapper,[2] is an Animal Friend who first appears in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. Clapper got his name from the popular depiction of seals clapping with their flippers, which he himself does in the games. He has silver fur, large eyes, and a tan snout with a black nose and five whiskers on each side. His hind two flippers somewhat resemble a fluked whale tail. A character resembling Clapper, named Seal, later appears in Donkey Kong 64.
History[edit]
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest[edit]
Clapper is an ally in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. He always sits next to a body of water, making a stock seal sound effect every few seconds. Clapper has the ability to cool the water temperature if Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong jump onto him, causing Clapper to breath onto then clap his flippers, hence his name. In Lava Lagoon, Clapper cools down the boiling lava water so that the Kongs to safely swim through, while in Clapper's Cavern, a level bearing his name, Clapper freezes the water into solid ice so that the Kongs can safely cross above Snapjaw. In both levels, the water that Clapper had cooled reverts to its original temperature after a while. Clapper is the only Animal Friend in the game to not have his own Animal Crate.
Donkey Kong Land 2[edit]
Clapper is an ally in Donkey Kong Land 2. His role is the same as before, and he first appears in the game's iterations of Lava Lagoon and Clapper's Cavern.
Donkey Konga 2[edit]
Character artwork of Clapper can appear in Donkey Konga 2's Freestyle Zone.
