- “Friction tests conducted on this flotation transportation resulted in one of the worst Toad pile-ups in memory. Every scientist was stuck to this thing.”
- —Sticker Museum plaque, Paper Mario: Sticker Star
The Balloon is a Thing in Paper Mario: Sticker Star. It is found behind the Secret Door in Holey Thicket. Once collected, it remains in Mario's Album until it is turned into a Sticker at a Sling-a-Thing station. Once it has been used as a sticker, it returns to its original position. It can also be purchased from the Shady Toad for 200 Coins.
The balloon is a large sticker, taking up four squares in Mario's album. If and when it is used in battle, it appears before the enemies, inflating slowly but surely as the music's tension increases. Eventually, the balloon bursts, catching all enemies off guard, resulting in a good chunk of damage for each of them. The player may tap repeatedly as the balloon inflates to increase the amount of damage dealt.
The balloon can also be placed into the Sticker Museum as #57 as the only "explosion"-based Thing. Its basic description labels it as a sign of celebration, while its museum description notes the disastrous results of the friction test they performed on it.
