Talk:Bombshell Bill Blaster
Why is the title of the artice, B. Bill Blaster, and not Bombshell Bill Blaster? Paper Jorge ( Talk·Contributions·) Paper Jorge was here at... 21:11, 15 September 2006 (EDT)
Because that's the way it appears in the tattle log in PM: TTYD -Doopliss rocks
Name
Is the name "Bombshell Bill Blaster" ever actually used, and not just implied? Not only do the games shorten it to "B. Bill Blaster" in battle, but the Tattles use the abbreviated form as well, unlike with enemies like Dark Koopatrol or Green Magikoopa. Niiue - Who has lost his tail? 18:08, March 15, 2020 (EDT)
- I don't recall the full term being used. Some other games have used abbreviations, like the M. M-Spike Top. I'm not sure what to do with this name. Scrooge200 (talk) 18:41, March 15, 2020 (EDT)
- Personally, I'd argue for keeping it as-is, because the game makes it pretty clear that "B. Bill Blaster" is short for "Bombshell Bill Blaster", even if the latter term isn't explicitly used. Niiue - Who has lost his tail? 18:44, March 15, 2020 (EDT)
- My thoughts are that the title should be the terminology explicitly used, while the writing within the article should use the full name. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:15, March 15, 2020 (EDT)
- Interestingly, both Nintendo Power guides consistently use "B. Bill Blaster" throughout. LinkTheLefty (talk) 09:23, March 16, 2020 (EDT)

Rename to "B. Bill Blaster"
This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit any of the sections in the proposal. If you wish to discuss the article, do so in a new header below the proposal. |
rename to B. Bill Blaster 12-1
The current name is what the full name is expected to be, however there are no points in either game where it is actually used, not even in tattles. Every point in both games refers to them as "B. Bill Blaster" (even though Goombella says "sorry about the abbriviation"), and according to the section above, even the prima games guide uses "B. Bill Blaster".

Support
- Keyblade Master (talk) Per proposal
- Niiue (talk) Per proposal. "Bombshell Bill Blaster" is an implied name at best.
- Grandet Omate (talk) Better to use official names imo
- Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) Absolute consistent usage, we should be accurate to the sources.
- DarkNight (talk) Per all.
- Archivist Toadette (talk) Let's be consistent.
- Waluigi Time (talk) Honestly I hate it but there's really nothing else we can do. Per all.
- FanOfYoshi (talk) Per all.
- 1337star (talk) Per all. Even in such a minor case like this, we should never apply conjecture where it does not belong.
- LinkTheLefty (talk) Yep, no official source writes it out to my knowledge, and we've had two games worth of material for them to do so.
- Alex95 (talk) - It's pretty obvious what the abbreviation is supposed to be, but it's never written out in full to my knowledge.
- Superbound (talk) Per everyone.
Oppose
- King Marth 64 (talk) Does some of the sources showed Bombshell Bill Blaster never been called Bombshell Bill Blaster, not just shorten due to limit name?
Comments
If this passes would this also be applied to the Super Princess Peach enemies that are in the same situation? Grandet Omate (talk) 20:50 October 1, 2020 (EDT)
- I didn't think about that at first, since I wasn't too familiar with how names are handled in that game, but we'll see. Nightwicked Bowser
Should we do anything similar with Super Mario RPG subjects whose in-game names are shortened due to character limits (e.g. Earlier Times, which is actually written "EarlierTimes")? Niiue - Who has lost his tail? 21:18, October 2, 2020 (EDT)
- If they're not written that way somewhere else such as a prima guide, then we could leave those as-is. Nightwicked Bowser
- It's a technicality, but only the NP guide would be good for that, as PRIMA's Nintendo partnership didn't start until midway through the N64 era. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:36, October 3, 2020 (EDT)
- Yes, for instance, Prima's Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars guide is unauthorized (and you can tell, since it bizarrely claims that the Chancellor is Princess Toadstool's father). Though regarding that example, "Earlier Times" has a space in the Nintendo Power guide, and I'm fairly certain other names that are CamelCase in-game are accounted for. Regarding Super Princess Peach, I think that has been a long time coming, but I feel it should be a separate proposal. That game's localization seems rushed. @King Marth 64 See the above section, the guides also consistently said "B. Bill Blaster." Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:30, October 3, 2020 (EDT)
No More Abbreviation
Can confirm that the remake no longer uses the abbreviation for their names. They are called Bombshell Bill Blasters in the remake. This could already be known, but I just personally looked it up to see and it's shown they are fully called Bombshell Bill Blasters in game. Tails777 Talk to me!
- On that Bombshell, I have moved the article title. Nightwicked Bowser 21:33, May 24, 2024 (EDT)
- Thanks! I honestly would've done it myself, but I can't delete redirects to make room for moves. So thank you very much! Tails777 Talk to me!
Explosive Weakness?
This talk page or section has a conflict or question that needs to be answered. Please try to help and resolve the issue by leaving a comment. |
Something I noticed very recently in the TTYD remake is that Bombshell Bill Blasters seems to take two more damage than they should when hit by Bobbery's Bomb move. They have a defense of four, yet still take four damage from the Bomb move (no power boosts or anything too; Bomb has an attack of 6 at max rank, which means Bombshell Bill Blasters should be taking two damage). Is there a reason for this? Are they like semi-weak to explosive moves or could this be some sort of glitch? I'm asking out of both genuine confusion and something that could potentially be added to the article too. Tails777 Talk to me!
