The title of this article is official, but it comes from a non-English source. If an acceptable English source is found, then the article should be moved to its appropriate title.
iQue Míngxīng Qí is a board game published by iQue in China. The game is mostly themed around Paper Mario, but it also includes elements from other games in the Super Mario franchise, including some gameplay mechanics from the Mario Party series. Up to three players can play the game at once, with each player using character pieces of Mario, Princess Peach, and Bowser.
Gameplay
The game's objective is to be the first to obtain a Power Star, although the instructions state that players can decide how many Power Stars a player needs for the game to end. Before the game starts, each player takes 10 coins, and an Item Card is placed on each shop space on the board; the first player passing a shop can pick that shop's Item Card. Additionally, a Star-picking stand is placed by rolling a die and placing the piece on the Star-picking stand location space with the number corresponding to the die. Lastly, sign pieces are placed at intersections in the path.
At the start of the game, each player rolls the die to determine how many spaces they move. Players can either gain or lose coins or draw a card depending on which space they land. After a player uses a card, it is placed back under the card pile; if the card applies on the next round, it is placed under the player's character piece until the card takes effect, after which it is normally placed under the card pile. When players encounter an intersection in the path, they have to follow the direction indicated on the sign, or they can pay five coins to change the sign's direction. Players can buy Item Cards by passing at shops, but they can only hold at most two Item Cards at a time. When a player passes by the Star-picking stand, they can obtain a Power Star by exchanging 20 coins for it.
Board
The game board is similar to the boards from the Mario Party series. The board's background depicts locations from Paper Mario, including Mario's House, Toad Town, Goomba Village, and Koopa Village. The board has the following spaces:
