Luigi Logic is a special ability exclusive to Luigi in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. It involves him thinking up beneficial solutions using his unique mind which allows him and Mario to solve overworld puzzles; it can also have him move on his own with the use of the L Button button. This ability is also available during boss battles by interacting with background elements which can advantageously be used against a boss.[1][2] The mechanic is comparable to the Luiginary Works from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team.

It is later revealed that the Great Conductor is the one who gave Luigi the Luigi Logic ability.

Examples of Luigi Logic

  • Rumbla Island has a gate that Luigi can squeeze through after Mario opens some gaps in the door. Luigi uses this to get to the other side of the gate, where there is a button that can be pressed to open the gate.
  • Luigi Logic is also used during certain boss battles:
    • During the battle versus Gorumbla, a sculpture to the north can be targeted with Luigi Logic. Luigi can grab the sculpture to fling the boulder at the boss, who sends it at Mario. Mario must then use his hammer stop the boulder before Luigi sends it at Gorumbla with his own. If successful, Gorumbla will be stunned with his defense lowered until he recovers.[3]
    • There is a vent to the north of the arena where Gobblick is fought, and its tongue can be grabbed to throw him into the vents. If successful, Gobblick will be stunned for several turns and its defense will lower until the effect wears off.[3]
    • When Sharpcask is fought, it can sometimes retreat into its shell. With Luigi Logic, Luigi can manipulate the conveyor belt to position the monster underneath falling crates to stun it for several turns. As with the first two examples, Sharpcask's defense lowers until its stun wears off.[4]
    • During the battle against the Pipegunk, Shun can use his remote to shift the arena to a hot area or a cold area, giving the monster power. However, Luigi can mug him for the remote. If Luigi succeeds with his theft, Shun gets tossed into the lava, being unable to assist his bioweapon for several turns, and Luigi is free to shift the battle to a different environment. If Luigi shifts it to the opposite temperature environment, the Pipegunk will be stunned and take more damage than normal.[5]
    • During the battle against Glohm Bowser, a Shy Guy Airtub will sometimes fly in. With Luigi Logic, Luigi can hijack the Airtub and Mario will jump on as well. They will then fly away, with Bowser flying after them. Luigi can then fire cannonballs at Bowser to deal damage and move left and right to avoid Bowser's attacks. After some time, the Airtub will fall back down to the ground. If the Airtub is hit by an attack, it will crash and the Luigi Logic will end. If Luigi attempts to use Luigi Logic when Bowser is not calmed, he will destroy the Airtub before the bros. can fly away, canceling the Luigi Logic.

Profile

  • In-game battle description: Luigi can sometimes look at a boss enemy's behavior or environment and get a flash of inspiration that can change everything.
When this happens, try hitting the Luigi Logic Command block on Luigi's turn to try out whatever scheme he's concocted.
If you successfully execute a Luigi Logic plan, you'll get the chance to deal huge damage to a boss.
Luigi Logic plans always involve Mario's cooperation. If he is KO'd, use a 1-Up Mushroom item to recover.[6]
