Baboon Blast
A Barrel Cannon course, entered by using Baboon Blast.

Baboon Blast (Barrelum Perilous) is one of Donkey Kong's special moves in Donkey Kong 64. It allows for him reach a special Barrel Cannon course. This move can be purchased from Cranky's Lab for three Banana Bunch Coins starting in Jungle Japes. The move can be used by pressing Z Button while Donkey Kong stands on a Cranky's Kong Pad depicting his head, launching him up to a Barrel Cannon challenge in the sky, where he has to blast through a series of Barrel Cannons and Blast Barrels until he reaches the end goal. This usually either triggers an event in the world or rewards him with a Golden Banana. The Barrel Cannon challenges for Angry Aztec and Frantic Factory are the only ones required to progress through the game, since the Kongs cannot enter the Llama's Temple and free Lanky Kong otherwise or play the Donkey Kong arcade machine and earn the Nintendo Coin in Frantic Factory otherwise.

There is one Cranky's Kong Pad where Baboon Blast can be used in every world except Hideout Helm, and their locations are as follows:

  • Jungle Japes - On a small cliff side above a boulder that rests on an X-marked platform with an X-mark on it. DK can reach it by swinging from a few vines on a nearby tree.
  • Angry Aztec - In front of the staircase by the entrance to the Llama's Temple.
  • Frantic Factory - In the center of the Storage Room.
  • Gloomy Galleon - On top of a block near the entrance to the lighthouse.
  • Fungi Forest - On a wooden walkway outside the giant mushroom, next to a Tag Barrel.
  • Crystal Caves - South of Cranky's Lab.
  • Creepy Castle - Outside the tree near the beginning of the level.
