Chomp Romp is a 4-Player minigame found in Mario Party 5. It was also released on the Mario Kart: Double Dash!! bonus disk containing the Mario Party 5 demo, under its original name, Chain Chomp-Walking.

This minigame is located in a playground. The Chain Chomp is romping through a field of flowers behind the course. The player then blows their whistle, causing the Chain Chomp to break through the fence onto the course, albeit dazed.

Gameplay[edit]

Each player attempts to blow a whistle to lure their Chain Chomp to the exit at the end of the obstacle course. When the player blows the whistle, the Chain Chomp starts moving toward the player until it collides with an object (for instance, a swing set). If the player gets hit by the Chain Chomp, the player is stunned for a moment. If it hits a slide, a Goomba slides down it; if it hits a swing set, the Shy Guy on it starts swinging; and if it hits a trash can, it is knocked out of the path as trash is released. The first player that gets their Chain Chomp to the end is the winner. If nobody does so within a certain time limit, the minigame ends in a draw.

This appears as the second minigame in Mini-Game Decathlon. Here, the player's objective is to get their Chain Chomp to the end as fast as they can to earn as many points as possible, up to 1,000. The default record for this minigame in Mini-Game Decathlon is 30 seconds. Also, the minigame ends once all players finish or if one minute 30 seconds pass.

Ending[edit]

The player performs their victory animation at the end of the course, with the Chain Chomp barking happily right behind them. In the Mini-Game Decathlon variation, the screen simply fades to white before the results are shown.
