25m Rapid Fire Pistol

25m Rapid Fire Pistol is a Shooting Event that appears in the Nintendo 3DS version of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The aim of the event is to score the most points over three rounds by shooting the targets. The starting record for this event is 139.0pt(s).

In the game's story mode, 25m Rapid Fire Pistol appears as the fourth part of the challenge of Tricksters Episode 2, Wario's Scheme, in which Wario must beat Dr. Eggman in the event, alongside Long Jump, 1000m Kayak (Singles), Handball and Taekwondo. It also appears as the fourth challenge of Tricksters Bonus 1, Dr. Eggman's Robots, in which Metal Sonic must beat Waluigi.

Gameplay

In this event, the player plays three rounds, with five targets to shoot in each with a maximum of five shots able to be made. The cursor initially starts to the right of the targets, and automatically moves to the left as the round continues. The speed of the cursor increases every round. When the cursor is in the center of the target, the player must press to shoot. Once the cursor passes the leftmost target, the player is given their scores for each target individually, before being given a total one all five have been scored. Landing a shot in the innermost circle awards the player with exactly ten points, with each circle going outwards giving a minimum of nine, followed by eight, seven, six and five for the outside circle. For the values below ten, a decimal value is also added on depending on how close the player's shot was to the center of the target. If the player shoots the same target more than once, only their lowest scoring value is counted. The character with the highest total of points at the end of all three rounds is the winner.
