MarioWiki talk:Glossary
Could we someday make this section again? This time I promise it won't fail.
We have terms like Shroobified, Game Over, Level Up...heck we have almost all of them in Terms List. \
So can we make this go back to life? Paper Jorge
- Would this be a list page or would it describe the terms a little bit? If the former, we should just link to the Terms category, if the latter, we should try again. Wa TC@Y 16:03, 9 January 2007 (EST)
Possible Name Issue...[edit]
I was thinking... Most people who look up "Glossary" are probably thinking about the enemy log thingie in Super Princess Peach. --YellowYoshi398 21:33, 13 February 2007 (EST)
- I suggest creating Glossary (Super Princess Peach), and putting a note at the top of this page linking to that. Wa TC@Y 21:35, 13 February 2007 (EST)
Shouldn't?[edit]
Shouldn't this be MarioWiki:Glossary?
- Yes. Why don't you ask Cobold to change it? He's on as far as I know right now. Stumpers! 15:48, 1 February 2008 (EST)
- I move it. Grapes
Abbreviations[edit]
Shouldn't the full names mentioned in the entries for abbreviations also be in bold? For example, should the current RPG entry be "RPG: Short for Role Playing Game..." or should "Role Playing Game" remain plain? - Walkazo 22:58, 22 November 2008 (EST)
Too Precise?[edit]
Must we really put ALL the name's of the games that have a world 1-1? MisterJaffffey G0 Glossary
- We could create a disambiguation page for "World 1-1"/"1-1" and put that information on there, but yes, we do want that information somewhere for completeness. If you'd like to copy and paste the information here and then delete the information, that would be fine - then, when I'm under less pressure, I can take care of those articles. Stumpers! 18:21, 14 December 2008 (EST)
- Maybe we should make a seperate page for the List of Levels. Including definitions on this page for "1-1" through "1-Tower", but not for any of the other worlds' levels seems odd. However, including all the levels on the glossary page would take up way to much space and detract from the other words' definitions. Plus, the level entries that are up are mind-numbingly repetative: "x-y is the xth level in the yth world of the Super Mario Bros platformers..." could easily be converted into a chart. One column's header would explain that unless otherwise stated (as in "1-Tower"), the names mean world-level; the other column would be for the games that level appears in. Once that's done, the article could even be expanded to list the non-numerically-titled levels: each game would have a section (with sub-sections for worlds), where the levels would be listed from first to last (to bonus). Here is what that part of the article would look like. - Walkazo 23:24, 14 December 2008 (EST)
- Of course it seems odd: the glossary is incomplete by about 90%, if not more. I have no opinion on the matter - if you have a better way to do it, it's up to you. Stumpers! 00:11, 15 December 2008 (EST)
- That's just fine. I'm open to anything we can do to improve this page. Stumpers! 21:43, 15 December 2008 (EST)

Namespace[edit]
Shouldn't this be in the mainspace since its about Mario? Yoshario
- I support that ™ imma bored
This place is a craphole. I mean, stuff that is not MAIN to the series is on it, like 1-Chance Badge...or "Rare" Collectible Figurine... PINKBOOZOOKA WET HISUNEXISTENT PANTZ
REWRITE THIS STUPID PAGE ALREADY!!![edit]
Come on, my proposal to rewrite this won 14-0! This place is so stupid. I MEAN ON THE MAIN PAGE IT SAYS IT HAS MARIO TERMS (Which it should NOT have and is useless anyway), AND ON THE HELP PAGE IT SAYS IT PROVIDES USEFUL WIKI TERMS! REWRITE THIS STUPID, USELESS PIECE OF GARBAGE SOMETIME IN THE NEXT MILLENIUM, PLEASE (I would do it but I think it would look better if a Sysop did it because everyone trusts them and also I am not familiar with many of the terms either). MrConcreteDonkey
- I got rid of the outdated stuff, but I can't add anything for now, I'm afraid: I'm swamped with outside work for the next couple weeks, at the very least. - Walkazo 04:49, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
Um[edit]
I think that Waluigi should be part of the Big 8 rather than Toad, to be honest. --FREAK ~Game Freak~ OUT!
- I removed it completely: problem solved. The term was removed from the wiki years ago, but I forgot to cut it in my first trimming of the list. - Walkazo 04:55, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
NPC[edit]
NPC redirects here, but shouldn't it redirect to New Play Control? A Link to the Present 16:22, 9 April 2011 (EDT)
- Unfortunately, NPC has two different meanings: Non-playable character and New Play Control as well. Ray Trace(T|C)
Glossary[edit]
Can the redirect be deleted because there is a glossary in Mario Power Tennis for the GBA. I want to create that page. DKPetey99TCE 09:16, 17 August 2011 (EDT)
- You can just edit the redirect into an article (having a record that it used to be a redirect is better than starting afresh, especially since a lot of outdated custom welcome templates and a few proposals and comments still use the plain "Glossary" link to direct people here, and it would be very confusing without any context). Just explain in the edit summary what you're doing: no one should oppose as long as it's actually article-worthy. Besides, there's not really supposed to be redirects between different namespaces to begin with (it says so on Help:Redirect), so it having a mainspace use would be better anyway. - Walkazo 19:22, 17 August 2011 (EDT)
Forum entries[edit]
Would it be okay if more forum terms were added? I started by putting main ones like "Forum", "Super Mario Boards" and "Wiki Collaborations". How about common forum terms like "thread" and "board".?
- Also I made a disambig page for NPC, rather than having a redirect to the N section on the glossary.
Shokora (talk · edits) 02:04, 5 January 2013 (EST)
- Good idea about the disambig page: I always hated that notice being here. And I think explaining basic forum terms would be fine too: it'd be useful no matter what, but we also talk about forum stuff around the wiki ("take it to the forums", "see this thread for the full discussion", etc.), making it even more relevant. - Walkazo 18:11, 5 January 2013 (EST)
"Remake"[edit]
I think we should have a solid definition of "remake", which isn't interchangable with "port".
Port: A game that was originally released on previous consoles or handhelds that is transferred to a different console or handheld with little to no changes regarding gameplay.
Would a remake be almost the opposite (large changes regarding gameplay, change in soundtrack, different voice casting, large graphical changes)? The policy says that "Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario 64 DS are remakes of existing games", and they fit these confounding requirements.

Linking[edit]
Since there are links to pages such as Glitch, Fourth wall, and Pre-release and unused content on the list, should the section about Easter eggs link to the Easter egg page? --TheFlameChomp (talk) 22:04, 27 March 2017 (EDT)
- Don't see why not; done. Thanks for the suggestion.
