Donkey Kong faces Dread Kong.
Dread Kong is a large intimidating looking Kong, member of the Evil Kings, and the first boss faced in the game Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. Dread Kong is the ruler of the Banana Kingdom, which is the first kingdom Donkey Kong ventures through. The fight for Dread Kong is fought upon treetops, and being the first boss, is the easiest of the Kong bosses faced. Dread Kong later appears at the end of game ceremony where he, along with the other Evil Kings, honors Donkey Kong's victory over the evil Ghastly King.

Dread Kong's earlier appearance, as shown in the beta version
- The name Dread Kong is derived from the dreadlocks he has in his hair.
- Dread Kong did not exist in the pre-release version of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. It was instead an evil-looking Donkey Kong look-alike with grey fur, black eyes, and glowing red pupils.
- The game files for Super Smash Bros. Brawl reveal that Dread Kong was originally meant to be included as a trophy in the game.
