Gender??

GameXplain referred to Antasma as female. They should know this, since they played through the entire English demo. Since we only have its gender in Germany, and region/gender differences in the Mario series is not uncommon (see Birdo, Vivian, Petey Piranha), I changed it. YoshiCookie (talk) 10:15, 10 December 2015 (EST)

I asked them how they knew it was a "she" and got this reply: "I don't." They were just assuming in the video. Maybe you can still find the comment (If you find mine (fawfulthegreat64) that's what Gamexplain replied to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zy8vXzplw-0 --Fawfulthegreat64Logo.png 19:24, 5 June 2013 (EDT)

Oh, so it was just an assumption. And since all signs point to Antasma being a dude...I guess we should keep it. YoshiCookie (talk) 10:15, 10 December 2015 (EST)

It's a bit hard to work out what gender Antasma is from it's appearance, it probably is just an it, but as it has recently been given the title of King it then must have a gender. Unless ONM are guessing again... - Cubeguy2ver.pngCubeguy(talk)

On the Mario and Luigi Dream team site it states Antasma is a male and like Cookie said he is said to be a king :D Luigifan100 (talk) 20:02, 19 June 2013 (EDT)

Just got the game. Yup, he is a king. --Mlol (talk) 15:25, 27 July 2013 (EDT)

First ever King?

If Antasma is a king, doesn't that make him the first one in the M&L series? If so doesn't that count as trivia? Just asking. - Cubeguy2ver.pngCubeguy(talk)

Personally, I'd wait for further information before having it as a trivia point.
'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 09:10, 6 June 2013 (EDT)
I know that, im just asking in case, it is a king, so that way i don't add it and it gets deleted. - Cubeguy2ver.pngCubeguy(talk)

"King" Bowser Koopa, the "King" of the Koopas. I think Bowser was the first King in the M&L series. Chaoxys (talk)

Other than Bowser i mean. Like he's the first King that's an actual threat. - Cubeguy2ver.pngCubeguy(talk)
I don't think it matters, extremely dangerous or a joke, still a king. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 21:23, 8 July 2013 (EDT)

Bowser would be the extremely dangerous king, because he is not a joke, he is an actual threat. --User:Bigmariofan/talk

Needing an image of Antasma outside the dream world...

'ello all. I have tried repeatedly to get an image on here from a Japanese trailer of Dream Team, but I have yet to have any luck with uploading it here. Does anyone with more image-embedding skills mind going to that site and getting the picture of Bowser being airlifted by Antasma outside of the Dreamworld? I think that image is rather important because (A), it shows Antasma is not confined to the Dreamworld, B) it is storyline important (this is probably the point where Antasma starts controlling Bowser), and (C) shows that Antasma has deceptively strong muscles...yes, C is a joke, but the other 2 points are perfectly valid! If this helps, here is the video:[1]. The scene where Bowser is airlifted and/or possessed by Antasma is at about 4:12. Thank you.

Hello there. In order to use an image in an article, you must upload it. But this can only be done by Autoconfirmed users. I uploaded the image you required at File:MLDT - Antasma Airlifting Bowser Screenshot.png. Sorry about the quality, it's the best the trailer offered.

Thank you. Sorry about the slight terseness of the request...

Final Battle

Is there a video of the battle with Antasma?

Hi! I'm Electrical Bowser jr.!

Antasma is not the final boss, Dreamy Bowser is and this is Super Mario Wiki, not Youtube

History

Is that really all there is? Does the game just leave off at that? Or is there more to it that they just haven't added yet? (plz do as soon as possible) Ghostkaiba297 (talk) 20:49, 13 July 2013 (EDT)

Antasma X Health

Don't know if this needs listing but it's health iv estimated is somewhere between 10,000-15,000 HP. - Cubeguy2ver.pngCubeguy(talk)

On a similar note, I'm rather curios how someone got a hold of Antasma's HP amount and other stats in the first place (unless, of course, it was estimated). --Zootalo (talk) 14:15, 28 July 2013 (EDT)
I estimating, i count up to 11,000 then lose track. - Cubeguy2ver.pngCubeguy(talk)

Are all of Antasma X's stats higher? I've fought him in the Battle Ring in both normal and hard mode, and I swear his speed is at least DOUBLE what it's listed as in the article (Mario had to have about 190 speed to attack first). Someone needs to test whether his speed, defence, attack and other stats are all higher in the Battle Ring too. Also, whether his non attack stats are higher in hard mode, since I suspect they probably are...

User:Cheat-master30

It's usually the case with X bosses compared the their normal counterparts. I've also noticed that with the case of Partners in Time, the enemies' stats aren't exactly static and seem to actually go up as you reach higher levels... --Zootalo (talk) 13:53, 2 August 2013 (EDT)

Final Antasma Battle XP

7500 XP (9000 with Quick Level). Just throwing this out there. (I'm sure I only got 3100 from Antasma the first time... must have been a bug.) Samario (talk)

...Finally "killing" him?

Sorry, I'm not too sure about the choice of wording. Is "killing" really appropriate, especially in a Mario game? I would have said rather: "finally destroying him" or something close to it. Not to mention the idea- which is often debated- as to whether or not characters die...
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ckoune (talk).

Well kill is used in the sense of the death of a character, while destroyed is more towards an object such as the Grobot. You could replace it with died which would be better.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Cubeguy (talk).

I completely agree, but the problem is that it isn't suited to the Mario universe, as I've never come across the word "kill" or "death" (and if so, not that often) when playing any Mario game. Anyway, I think it's fine the way it is now. I think "kill" should be restricted to first-person-shooter games, not really in this context.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ckoune (talk).

I agree with Cubeguy, plus the game is rated E10+ not E2-.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bigmariofan (talk).

They use the words "kill", "dead", and even "murder" in Paper Mario when we think Mayor Penguin is dead (even though he really isn't). Antasma is dead, however you want to say it, but you can say "destroy" instead if you want (and they do say "destroy" when talking about killing Count Bleck). Ghostkaiba297 (talk) 23:12, 27 November 2013 (EST)

As to the debate of whether characters die, the only characters who seem to die but then return are in the Koopa Troop, like Bowser, the Koopalings, Petey Piranha, King Boo, etc. And New Super Mario Bros. establishes they can revive each other as Bowser Jr. does to Bowser onscreen after Mario kills him (reduced to a skeleton in the lava). The only exception is Tatanga, who seems to explode along with his ship, but it could be he either used a device on his ship (which is most powerful) to teleport off, or escaped in an escape pod blocked by a flash of light from the explosion or otherwise invisible, although it's pretty clear they intended to kill him there (as players would be dissatisfied to see him escape) but decided to bring him back as Wario's minion to show that he was working for him as a distraction. Ghostkaiba297 (talk) 23:23, 27 November 2013 (EST)

First off, Ghost Kaiba Tatanga returns in the second Super Mario Land as a boss (im not sure if you know that), Second almost all of the mario games are non-linear on a timeline besides this series, Super Mario Galaxy and any others you guys can work out. Third, deaths of characters is usually discussed about the next upcoming game and not a real important issue here. Theres no real difference between died and destroy, i just suggested that to try and get this discussion over with. Fourth, i'll remind you this is not a forum and this sort of discussion is needed to be done on a forum, not here. - Cubeguy2ver.pngCubeguy(talk)
First off, I've beaten Tatanga numerous times in Super Mario Land 2, his return in that game was what I was explicitly referring to when I said "decided to bring him back as Wario's minion". When I said "exception" I meant he was the only one who seems to die and then returns who is not in the Koopa Troop, sorry if I didn't speak clearly enough. Second, to address your fourth point, this was only in response to the first comment in response to the debate over whether characters die in the Mario games, which is why we can say on here that Antasma and other villains are "dead". ummmmmmmmmmmmmm why? what do you want us to do? this isn't official game artwork and antasma always has that smile. So, yeah, why are you showing us this exactly. - Cubeguy2ver.pngCubeguy(talk)

Sorry, meant better backstory.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.117.40.240 (talk).

Oh, well fan-made stuff is not included in the wiki articles, sorry. Unless it came from the game itself or the developers it won't be included. - Cubeguy2ver.pngCubeguy(talk)

Cackletta mispelling

FYI, Cackletta has been misspelled "Cakletta" in the section referring to Antasma's abilities. We wouldn't want to imitate the same mistake that Fawful made in Superstar Saga, now, would we? Cheers.

Reason for removal of final antasma battle trivia

i would just like to point out this is in no way trivia or a game developers error. Luigi must be asleep to become dreamy Luigi thus aiding mario, the only way Luigi is able to connect to Antasmas dream portal is by sleeping next to said portal, which makes the area there in a dream point allowing Luigi connection and an ease of access for falling asleep. - Cubeguy2ver.pngCubeguy(talk)

Romanization

Antasma's Japanese name アックームIs romanized as Akkūmu and not Akkumu like it currently says. ク=u but クー=ū.

French NOA name

The French NOA name is Phobieux. It can be seen on the website. a1b2c3 (talk)

Possesing Brouque Monsuir?? MMMM....no

I gave this quite some thought and belive that this statement is false. First Brouque Monsuir apologizes for his behaviour during his "act" to the bros. Secondly, Antasma is unable to actually control anyone since he is imprisoned and if even so Brouqe is awake during the intro making this an impossible task for Antasma. So to some up no he is not possesing Brouqe. - Cubeguy2ver.pngCubeguy(talk) BOO!! ^w^

Battle ideas

I am at Battle Medley, currently at level 55+. (Normal Mode).

I kept losing, so I chose an idea.

Keep two badge effects, one temporarily increases your pow, and the other temporarily decreases the enemy's def, dealing more damage to Antasma X. Use the Luiginary Wall to also attack Antasmunchie X's.

Battle glitch

I found a glitch in his battle, and have a video to show the results (I didn't get the glitch itself because I didn't expect it). Before I add the glitch, should I upload the video to mariowiki or YouTube? Also, where in the article should it go (maybe just trivia)? Pallukun (talk) 16:06, May 18, 2019 (EDT)

I think that information would be better suited to List of Mario & Luigi: Dream Team glitches if you can get proof of the glitch in action. Do you know what caused the glitch? --Fawfulthegreat64Logo.png 16:11, May 18, 2019 (EDT)
Yeah I can remember very clearly. The glitch is the fight getting stuck on Marios death; Luigi had been freed from a munchie during a counterattack, then Mario died in the same attack. Both bros layed on the ground and the game couldn't decide whether to end the fight or put Luigi in Mario. I don't have a video of the glitch itself, but of the results. Is that enough or should I recreate it? Pallukun (talk) 18:14, May 18, 2019 (EDT)

HP for the first battle

The HP for the first battle can actually be either 4 (if you jump with two jumps both times), 3 (if you jump with two jumps on one of the two turns and jump with one jump on the other turn), or 2 (if you jump with one jump both times). Thank You!

Typos

The profiles and statistics section instead spells it statictics, and the trivia section spells erroneously as errounesly. Can someone who can edit this page please fix this?

Antasma's English Name Meaning

Antasma's name seems less like a combination of "Anti" and "Fantasm" and more like a combination of "Antagonist" and "Miasma".

Reason I say this is because "Anti" and "Fantasm" are both a bit esoteric to suit Antasma in any way. "Anti" simply means "the opposite of", and "fantasm" means "a product of fantasy". It's frequently used to refer to ghostly beings but in truth, it's more of a blanket term for any purely fictional entity.

Whereas "Antagonist" strictly refers to the villain, or the main opposition to the hero, or protagonist of the story. And "Miasma" refers to a cloud of unpleasant odor or smoke, which matches with Antasma's smoke-like aura.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by ImpSassy (talk).

Personally, the name always reminded me of the Portuguese word "fantasma", which means "ghost", but I guess he's not exactly a ghost, and native English speakers probably don't have that association. Still feels more fitting than "miasma" though. Blinker (talk) 14:21, December 15, 2023 (EST)
I'd always assumed "phantasm/phantasma" or related word, which is a moderately well-known variant of "phantom" (and cognate to "fantasma"). Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:41, December 15, 2023 (EST)
