Paintball Battle is a Free-for-All minigame appearing in Mario Party 10.

Gameplay

Rosalina loses in Paintball Battle.
Donkey Kong defeats Rosalina in the minigame.

The players are located in a field with elevated platforms. A random layout is generated each time this minigame is played. The objective of the minigame is to shoot paintballs at opponents and be the last player standing, or to have the most hearts when the time expires. Paintballs that hit each other are destroyed upon contact. If a player is shot three times, they are considered out and a Lakitu drags them away. The last player standing, or the player with the most hearts after 30 seconds have passed, wins.

Players can tie for a position if they are eliminated at the same frame. If the remaining players are eliminated, they are dragged by a Lakitu, and the minigame ends in a tie with everyone being placed in last (it is not possible to have a tie in a three-player game), provided that all players are eliminated at the same frame;[1] otherwise, these remaining players receive first place. However, this scenario rarely occurs as both players must attack each other with the attacks connecting at the perfect frame, and can happen only with perfect timing between players. Ties are also possible should multiple players have the same number of hearts; if the heart counts are all the same when time runs out, everyone is placed in first,[2] even if no player took any hits.

Ending

If the minigame ends before the time runs out, a Lakitu drags the last eliminated player away. If more than one remaining player is eliminated at the same frame, a Lakitu drags them all away.
