Block.svg The RPG Gamer has been blocked for 90 days from editing the Super Mario Wiki.
See the block log and block time remaining.

I have some rules on my talk page as listed below:

  1. Don't go replacing content with a negative message like: I HATE YOU!
  2. If you're sending a friend request you must also put the reason of why we should be friends because you should only really talk to me about wiki-related matters.
  3. All new messages must go at the bottom of the page, you can do this by pressing the + icon next to the edit icon.
  4. Don't blank my talk page.
  5. Don't Spam. (That's obvious)
  6. Unless you know me in person (which is unlikely) don't wish me a Happy Birthday or Merry Christmas (but feel free to do so on the forums).
  7. Don't make conclusive spelling errors on my talk page.
  8. Don't put false block or warning templates on my talk page.
  9. Only talk to me about wiki-related stuff or other cool stuff if you talk to me about junk or weird stuff I'm not a fan of or otherwise have no opinion on it, I won't respond.
  10. Please paragraph you sentences I don't like them right next to my messages and it gets really boring having to do it myself.
  11. Once THIS talkpage reaches 100 sections, don't edit it I'll archive it others may vary though.

Everything else is completely acceptable so message me anything you want.

Also one more thing, I will normally answer questions here but if it is urgent I will answer them on your talk page.

Thanks. Yeah, it would be nice to have a complete North American list too. I still need the time to move that subpage to the mainspace.

Welcoming Users

I've noticed you've been giving the {{welcome}} treatment to users who haven't been on the wiki for a while. To name a few, Mcmadness (talk) (last edit was Nov. 2015), Zoraik (talk) (only made two edits in June 2016), and E (talk) (last edit was in February of 2016). It's great that you're trying to be friendly, but it'd probably be best if you welcomed them within a month of them joining (like in the case of Mcmadness, who's last edit was almost a full year ago). Nothing wrong with being friendly, but you should probably refrain yourself from making TOO many new talk pages. If you want to welcome them, best wait for them to edit again, see if they're actually still around. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:26, 26 October 2016 (EDT)

I want to echo what Alex said, that is basically the same as welcoming users who haven't made any edits, it leaves us with a bunch of useless talkpages for inactive users. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 18:37, 26 October 2016 (EDT)

RE: Compress/Transparency

Video - First, let's talk about format. Think of JPEGs using a bitrate, something that a video or audio codec uses to measure how much quality the encoding has. I'm sure you have seen very good quality and very poor quality YouTube videos. You might even notice the image was divided into squares (containing a few pixels). Higher bitrates yield great visuals, being bigger in file size. The bitrate tells how much estimating is allowed during encoding; setting 1% using highest amounts of estimation while 100 being the lowest amounts of estimation (100% doesn't mean no estimations occur). That's what each square contains. This sort of compression is lossy and doesn't support transparency. This is acceptable for complex visuals, such as photographs (Charles Martinet) or maybe even art, because the artifacting caused by the JPEG format will be barely noticable. PNGs use a different kind of compression that looks at how redundant the pixels of the given bitmap are at tells the decompression algoritm to repeat this pixel x number of times. Instead of say #FFFFFF #FFFFFF #FFFFFF #FFFFFF #FFFFFF #FFFFFF could be compressed to #FFFFFFx6 (this is a simple way of understanding lossless compression and doesn't reflect the exact details how PNGs work). Also, PNGs by definition are already compressed. When I say I used PNG Monstrous (a compressing tool to make them internet-ready), the program automatically looked at the best possible compressed data arrangement for an image. Keep in mind that this doesn't fix how an image appears, which is often why I say to recapture an image tagged with {{image-quality}}, especially if I detect a JPEG converted to PNG or YouTube-captured screenshots. PNGs are great for images with solid colors; such as NES games (captured as the game is running in an emulator) or solid color art where the JPEG format would make artifacts look apparent. To get transparency, GIMP is a popular free choice while Photoshop is a very common but not free tool. I have had success with FastStone Image Viewer. Just use the delete key when you are done selecting pixels (any program I mentioned). Sorry if this was overly long. I just wanted to give you knowledge how to best use each format. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 20:16, 27 October 2016 (EDT)

RE:DYK

Because what you did was specifically against the guidelines: "These facts should be from a variety of series (i.e. not every fact should be from the Donkey Kong Country series or Super Smash Bros. series).". Three out of four of those facts you chose are from Mario RPGs, that is not a variety of series. Reread guidelines first before you ask next time. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C) 19:13, 5 November 2016 (EDT)

Paper Mario series

When that point comes, then it would be appropriate to change, but as it currently stand the Paper Mario series have gone through three generations in their genre and gameplay style. These are three entirely different generations of games that belong to the same series.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 16:32, 7 November 2016 (EST)

Thank you. It's been rather difficult trying to make things work around here when I see it one way and someone else see's it another way. I'm honestly not a fan of the way the games are split up on the article, but it is necessary information.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 16:45, 7 November 2016 (EST)

Re:Bestiary

Look at how Mario Kart 8 handled stats. All general information easily accessible by regular users are on there, with more in-depth stats receiving their own pages. The same should apply to the RPG stats. The only reason BiS lacks a bestiary is that I removed it mostly because I was too lazy to add the general stats table back in. I'm not going to stop you from re-adding it back in, it's just that I have other stuff to handle. Also, I'd like to mention that creating empty sections goes against our policy as well, and I don't want to undertake more work for filling in empty section in that article BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C) 18:41, 7 November 2016 (EST)

???

Did you really need to classify the difference between a male Chain Chomp and a Female Chomp? It's like giving both male and female Humans or Goombas their own page. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 14:19, 8 November 2016 (EST)

Since it appears in Color Splash as a seperate character, I felt enough justification to make an article. :) The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 14:20, 8 November 2016 (EST)
The one in Color Splash has a name, however: Princess. It'd probably be better to make the article about her instead. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 14:21, 8 November 2016 (EST)

Re:Bosses

The reason I merge them together because the game makes virtually no distinguishing between mid-bosses and "regular" bosses. Usually, mid-bosses are considerably weaker than the main boss, and they bigger bosses usually have different music playing in them (like in Paper Mario). Also, in this game, the Cobalt Star Shards are far less emphasized than the stuff you collect in Paper Mario. Overall, I think splitting off the two bosses when there are no official distinctions between them aside from the fact you fight one guy later in the level is not a good idea. And it doesn't matter how pathetically weak Jr. Shrooboid is, he's still a boss first and foremost by Mario and Luigi standards of beginner bosses. PMCS Chain Chomps

The Chain Chomps in the game don't attack you, and you can't attack them. they only appear once in battle, but they are part of the chariots in The Golden Coliseum.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 17:51, 9 November 2016 (EST)

I had a feeling File:Darkfawfulexplode.png was the reason as I put it in an edit summary but I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything. I am not very familiar with games in the Mario & Luigi (series). I can get a screenshot or two here and there and I own most games in the series, but I don't know the plots like I do with most games in the Paper Mario (series). --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 21:21, 9 November 2016 (EST)

RE: Template:Imagelicense-reminder

I have had that idea before, but I think its more complicated than looking for the right categories or filling out {{aboutfile}} appropriately. There are many licenses. It would be easier to mention a drop-down below the summary box of Special:Upload, maybe an image like this. Another complication is that this issue is less prevalent than the categorization issue, at least from what I have seen. Yet another complication is that you can decide to skip the license and manually inserted in the summary. This is what I do because most of my uploads are replacements and lazy copypasta from the image I am trying to replace. Yet even another complication is that it is very hard to track untagged images to be licensed. The best we can do is link to Help:License and scan Special:NewFiles like we do with Special:RecentChanges. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 01:44, 10 November 2016 (EST)

Color Splash stat

Just curious to know how we're getting the numeric values for the Koopalings' HP. --Zootalo (Talk)

Carefully testing how much damage is done. The ATK is obvious because that is how much damage they do. I can tell Goombas have somewhere less than 5 HP due to an insta-kill from a worn-out Jump in this game unlike the predecessor. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 22:00, 10 November 2016 (EST)

So pretty much, the ATK "value" is based on a single hit from a Worn-Out Jump, even if the actual value isn't known just yet. Right? Has this theory been tested further by jumping on a Goomba with multiple unsuccessful Worn-Out Jumps and still getting the same amount of hits needed to defeat it, gathering its HP "value"? How about the ATK values for stronger Jump attacks, or even Hammer attacks? --Zootalo (Talk)
I would say a Worn out Jump would do 3 damage a generic Jump would do 8 and I don't know about stronger variants. Hammers would probably be 1 point stronger than the jumps. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 23:21, 10 November 2016 (EST)

RE: Shadoo Image

A few faults with your argument:

  1. Actually, File:Shadoo.PNG was intended to be used as an image for a main article (Shadoo). It can have {{delete}} and be carried through if deemed necessary by the sysops.
  2. You can't make a decision on someones behalf. They could be unaware that they have a personal image and could overflow the 4:1 rule. The users that link to that image have to claim it themselves, or someone else entirely that wants the image for their page. Henry Tucayo Clay (talk) did this with File:Papermariousnap0009bw5.jpg when I had it tagged for deletion. A few exceptions can be made, like if the image is used in a signature or was never tagged or something. Then its not making a decision on their behalf and it is just keeping up with allowed personal images, but it is checked against the current knowledgebase before a tag takes place and the affected user should be alerted. Very rare but the better answer is if the image is a screenshot of a game or a sprite rip, {{delete}} almost always. It's up to the user to keep up (I don't like it anyways but I have to let this happen).
  3. The file usage is in namespace-ABC order, not least to most time being linked. Even if longest used image or first uploader, Xzelion (talk) would be the rightful owner, not Zero777 (talk), but we can't violate #2.

I have been tagging images for deletion with this situation several times. A sysop would agree with me on this. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 01:12, 17 November 2016 (EST)

PMCS Enemybox

Since you made the enemybox for PMCS, do you think you could update it to fit with the PMCS bestiary template info? Or could the PMCS bestiary template be used in place of the enemybox, with minor adjustments to fit the "|align=" part of the enemybox templates. --EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 22:10, 17 November 2016 (EST)

Basically {{Pmcsenemy}} will be used on the enemy's respective articles while the one you created is going to be used on the bestiary itself that being said, the reason it's blue like the rest is because of a proposal at the near the start of the year by Walkazo (talk) (whom I miss :( ) anyway one of the changes was all of them will use the same color scheme. I hope this helps. :) The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 22:15, 17 November 2016 (EST)
I figured something like that was why they all matched colors, but it's not what I meant. I wasn't referring to the colors, I referring to the stats. Though, if the bestiary template was blue, could it be used? --EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 22:20, 17 November 2016 (EST)
Yes it could; for HP use hp= attack uses atk= and Defense use def= it's pretty easy and it was another change made upon redesign, before that you used the standardised words this was mainly a factor for M&L infoboxes. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 22:27, 17 November 2016 (EST)

Okay, have fun! The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 22:36, 17 November 2016 (EST)
Ok, so here are my thoughts. I would like you to look at the PMCS bestiary template I made. Here, I created several input variables
|name= |image= |hp= |type= |atk= |def= |location= |strong= |weak= |cards= |paint= |moves= |quote=

To save myself headache, I've formatted the template so it'll take the name input, ex: Blooper, and will use it in place of the image and card inputs, since the enemy cards and the idle animations all share the same filename format. To go around this, you just type something into the image or cards input.

Anyways, I'd like you to take those inputs and make sure only those are used for the left and right aligned enemybox for PMCS. The horizontal align, however, I want that to very closely resemble the PMCS bestiary, save for the color scheme of course. The horizontal needs to remain the same in the way the information is displayed.

Now, there is another idea I've had brewing in my head. I believe, once I figure it out, I could add the template for PMCS bestiary page to, say, the Boo, Goomba, and Shy Guy articles. However, instead of displaying the entire bestiary on those three articles, I'd be able to specify which part of the page to display on each article. In this way, the bestiary page would act as the independent source of enemy stats, while the individual boxes on the Boo, Goomba, and Shy Guy pages would be dependent on the bestiary page. Any change on the bestiary would be reflected across the wiki.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 02:22, 18 November 2016 (EST)

Here's an example of what I mean with my idea.
The code used to display that on your talk page is

{{User:Eldritchdraaks/work|transcludesection=Red Slurp Guy}} --EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 02:45, 18 November 2016 (EST)

--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 09:30, 18 November 2016 (EST)
Ok, forgot everything before. I made it work. the enemy box for PMCS is directly linked to the bestiary, and it's awesome!--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 16:06, 18 November 2016 (EST)

Bestiary/Enemybox Proposal?

I took a small break from filling out the bestiary (which I still need the stats for) to rework the Color Splash enemy box. It took me awhile to figure out, but I eventually came up with an excellent design.
This is how the enemy box usually looks (ignore that the "upload images" aren't there.): Template:Pmcsenemy

{{Pmcsenemy
|align=horizontal
}}

Here, the only variable being used is align, which you use to chose how the box will look and align, so this varies between pages. The other variables are used to give the other stats.

Now shown below is how I've retooled the enemy box.

Paper Mario: Color Splash enemy
Goomba
Goomba sprite from Paper Mario: Color Splash HP 6 Type Normal Role Common Card
Strong None Weak None Card drop rate 5
A Goomba card from Paper Mario: Color Splash
Moves Head Attack (3), Group Attack (3), Blowback Attack (6)
Location(s) Port Prisma, Daffodil Peak, The Crimson Tower, Sunglow Ridge, Mondo Woods, The Golden Coliseum, Sacred Forest
Quotes Usual: "Goomba power!" ~ "I'm small, but I won't give up!" ~ "I WILL AVENGE MY FAMILY!" ~ "I am a bit tired of being stomped."
The Golden Coliseum if encountered in arena: "I may be weak, but I'm...also slow." ~ "I'm just a simple country Goomba..." ~ "I'll never give up!" ~ "Goombakalaka!"
Enemy class
ENEMY_KINOKO
Dropped items
Hammer Scraps 1 Red paint 3 Yellow paint 3 Blue paint 0 Orange paint 3 Green paint 0 Purple paint 0

The only difference is that the stats, name, and images are all there now, right? Wrong, because this is the exact code that's displaying this enemy box:

{{:Paper Mario: Color Splash bestiary|transcludesection=Goomba
|align=horizontal
}}
Again, only the align variable is active, but where is all the other info coming from, you ask? It's simple.

THE BESTIARY
That's right! I've made it so that you can place down that line of code on the enemy page and voila! The stats come straight from the bestiary; the left and right aling work as well. In doing this we not only save time adding in enemy boxes to a page, but we also make sure all information in it will always be the same as what's written on the bestiary.
Now, I want some input here. I think this method should be used for all the enemy boxes and bestiaries on the wiki, but I don't know if I should make a proposal about it, or only have it for color splash. And if I do make a proposal, I don't think I'd be very good at presenting all my thoughts and have them be easily understood, or if people would even agree with me!!!--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 21:35, 19 November 2016 (EST)

It looks good; also if you want your proposal to win, take the reasons into consideration and carefully explain why the change is a good idea good luck, also I may not be able to because I rarely participate in actual proposals nowadays I'm more of a mainspace editor like I was from January - March. :) The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 21:40, 19 November 2016 (EST)

I think you've been around long enough, to know that you shouldn't give poor and undescritive filenames like that. With that aside, I found it extremely discourteous and condescending. You should not have attributed or associated the file under my name and userbox without my permission. And saying that it was just to fill some broken links is an unnaceptable reason. Yes, please move the file to a more appropriate name. And consider this an informal courtesy warning.

Any reason why you are using HTML markup instead of MediaWiki markup? I've noticed this in a few other spots as well. One example. Don't use HTML if there is a suitable MediaWiki markup that can be used. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 15:41, 22 November 2016 (EST)

Your edit and history - I was editing the file making the necessary adjustments. Don't do that again. It's against MarioWiki:Courtesy. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 01:16, 26 November 2016 (EST)

You have been given many chances. Time for sysop intervention. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 01:51, 26 November 2016 (EST)
If I am given one more chance, I promise to improve my bad behaviour I will make a change. I love this Wiki and since I've got back from my last block, I have been doing my best to make an improvement on myself. I've been helping the Wiki out with a lot of things, adding pages, stopping vandals, welcoming new users and more I have not complained once about having to follow the rules either. Please forgive me. :( The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 01:55, 26 November 2016 (EST)

Whoops

Came online today and the first thing I saw was you getting a block notice. I know you help out a lot, so how'd you like to be friends once the block expires? Also, send whatever data you have on the Color Splash bestiary to Eldritchdraaks (talk) as he was waiting for you on that. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 11:54, 26 November 2016 (EST)

Yes, that'd be really helpful. I don't know how you can view my email though.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 12:41, 26 November 2016 (EST)
