User talk:The RPG Gamer/Archive 3

From the Super Mario Wiki, the Mario encyclopedia
Jump to navigationJump to search
X mark.svg This is an archive of past discussions. It is kept for historical reference only. If this page is unprotected, do not edit the contents. If you wish to start a new discussion or revive an old one, please do so on the current talk page.

I have some rules on my talk page as listed below:

  1. Don't go replacing content with a negative message like: I HATE YOU!
  2. If you're sending a friend request you must also put the reason of why we should be friends because you should only really talk to me about wiki-related matters.
  3. All new messages must go at the bottom of the page, you can do this by pressing the + icon next to the edit icon.
  4. Don't blank my talk page.
  5. Don't Spam. (That's obvious)
  6. Unless you know me in person (which is unlikely) don't wish me a Happy Birthday or Merry Christmas and also don't call me by my real name.
  7. Don't make conclusive spelling errors on my talk page.
  8. Don't put false block or warning templates on my talk page.
  9. Only talk to me about wiki-related stuff or stuff about my YouTube channel, if you talk to me about anything else I won't respond.
  10. Please paragraph you sentences I don't like them right next to my messages and it gets really boring having to do it myself.
  11. Once THIS talkpage reaches 25 sections, don't edit it I'll archive it others may vary though.

Everything else is completely acceptable so message me anything you want.

Also one more thing, I will normally answer questions here but if it is urgent I will answer them on your talk page.

Admin business

Please stop sticking your nose into admins' business, it's still very rude. If someone leaves a post on an admin's talk page, it's for them to answer, not you. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC

Sorry didn't know that. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 22:02, 20 June 2016 (EDT)
That's different. What I and Driftmaster130 asked were matters that required input specifically from an admin. It's not a rule or anything; It's just common sense to not intrude into something like this. Also keep in mind that just because someone else does something, it doesn't always mean it's right. IP talkpage

Stop edit warring over the delete tag. The page was used for nothing but random nonsense and seemed like a personal sandbox which (afaik) is not allowed for anons. The delete tag should stay, if an admin decides the page is worth keeping, they will remove the template themselves. driftmaster130 (TalkEdits) 18:58, 21 June 2016 (EDT)

You just ninja'd me. Read the above message though; and I highly doubt whoever is editing from that IP will do anything constructive given that they vandalized and were blocked over several periods. driftmaster130 (TalkEdits) 19:00, 21 June 2016 (EDT)
What if another user (not the same guy) wants to edit from that ip chances may be slim but it could happen. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 19:01, 21 June 2016 (EDT)
Unlikely, as I said, given the history. In that case they would probably email the admins or something, but that's admin business and not important here. driftmaster130 (TalkEdits) 19:03, 21 June 2016 (EDT)
That's what I meant, if someone else has that IP and wants to legitimately edit, they could contact the admins who would deal with it. Good for the edit warring thing, that would have gotten us both in trouble.

Oh and also when replying to me, keep the whole conversation either on this page or your replies on mine, mine on yours, etc. Alternating between them and posting the same message twice can confuse things. driftmaster130 (TalkEdits) 19:07, 21 June 2016 (EDT)

Thing Stickers

If Shiny enemies in Paper Mario: Sticker Star are vulnerable to Thing Stickers when they normally take less damage, doesn't that mean that Things Stickers ignore enemy defenses? --Zootalo (talk) 20:46, 21 June 2016 (EDT)

Yes it does but for characters like the Boo Stack or Giant Bowser (Before using Kersti) it stays the same for those guys but for Defense of Shiny enemies bosses etc. it's Defense is ignored. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 21:32, 21 June 2016 (EDT)
Then put that information in the Notes section beneath the table; having it in the Defense column makes the thing look sloppy. --Zootalo (talk) 20:04, 5 July 2016 (EDT)
Okay I will do that thanks. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 20:05, 5 July 2016 (EDT)

RE: Licensing Sprite/Screenshot

As long as the licensing tag reflects the current state of the image, change it, if necessary. Refer to Help:License. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 00:48, 30 June 2016 (EDT)

Not forum talk

You don't need to preemptively insert the template on talk pages; it's mostly for recently released games and pages that receive a lot of forum talk. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 20:27, 30 June 2016 (EDT)

Vandal talkpages

Please stop creating talkpages for blatant vandals. The accounts are only going to be blocked ASAP, so a warning is unnecessary. JLuigi.pngJ-Luigi (talk) 20:07, 1 July 2016 (EDT) Oh sorry didn't know that thanks. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 20:32, 1 July 2016 (EDT)

Redirects

If the redirect you're referring to is Gloam Valley Folk (if not, could you specify?), then it simply isn't a good idea to keep it around. For one, it would promote creating a comparable redirect for every location throughout SPM, which is completely unnecessary. Having Flipside Folk and Flopside Folk as redirects is fair, since both of those names make up the name we're currently using, but Yold Town Folk is unnecessary. Also, having one conjectural name does not mean we should propagate more conjectural names. Ideally, we should look for an official name, but if one can't be found, we should stick to one succinct name. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 20:05, 4 July 2016 (EDT)

Thanks got that. :) The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 20:42, 4 July 2016 (EDT)

RE: Sammer Images

Three things:

  1. You should really try to capture these in an emulator and save the capture as a PNG, using my WIP as a suggestion how to do it in the best possible way. These look like you are capturing them from YouTube videos. I just replaced a bunch of images with high quality counterparts.
  2. You are forgetting to insert Category:Super Paper Mario Images. Also try to use the file naming format File:SPM Sammer Guy ###.png. Makes maintenance easier.
  3. It's probably best to hold off uploading these images unless you have all 100 of them and it doesn't have The Void in the background.

I hope this answers your question. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 13:30, 7 July 2016 (EDT)

Reminder

Please stop marking pages for deletion without checking whether other pages still link to it on the Super Mario Wiki. This isn't a warning, and it's possible that you made a mistake by accident or without realizing it; this is simply a reminder for your information. If the action continues, then a warning will be issued. Thanks for reading and keep contributing.
If you feel this reminder was undeserved, you may appeal it.

Hello. Before marking pages for deletion (namely the Wiggler articles which have been merged due to this proposal), you must make sure that there are no pages which still link to it. In future, please follow these steps:

  1. Before tagging a moved or merged page for deletion, scroll down until you see the "tools" section of the sidebar. Click on "what links here".
  2. First, change the Namespace dropdown menu from "all" to "template". You will then see all templates which link to the current name of the page.
  3. Update all the links to the old pagename found on the template/s. For example, "Wiggler (Mario & Luigi:Dream Team)" must be updated to Wiggler#Mario & Luigi:Dream Team.
  4. Then, rechoose "all" from the dropdown menu on the "what links here page". Update the rest of the pages (it is OK to ignore links found on talk and userspace pages).
  5. When no more mainspace articles link to the moved or merged page, then you may mark that page for deletion.

Please remember to do this in the future. It will save a lot of work for other users, as well as for the admins. As we shouldn't delete moved or merged pages until the links have been updated. Thanks.

Dream Team Giant bosses

For just five bosses (and their X/Hard Mode counterparts), that won't be necessary. Here's why. --Zootalo (talk) 09:16, 18 July 2016 (EDT)

RE: Moving Images

I advise refraining from moving files unless the file name is really bad, which is against Image Use Policy. Most file names are fine anyways. If you do move, you have to modify each page that references the file by its old name and tag the redirect the move leaves behind with {{delete}}. If you can't edit a page referencing a file, either don't move the file to begin with or ask a sysop for assistance. This next thing is a pet peeve of mine but I hate to see Special:WantedFiles become even more useless than it already is. Other editors don't see the value in that special maintenance page but I do. Its primary function for usefulness should be obvious but its secondary function could be used for finding broken file references through editing mistakes. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 02:31, 21 July 2016 (EDT)

Professor E. Gadd proposal

The proposal to split Professor E. Gadd that you made was already decided in the past, however the split was never carried out. You may split the articles now without a proposal.

Also in future, when you propose to split an article, please make the proposal on the article's talk page. Splits should only go on the MarioWiki:Proposals page if it concerns a large number of pages or other major changes. Otherwise, a split/merge is better as a talk page proposal.

'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 04:41, 21 July 2016 (EDT)

Thanks for the heads up. :) The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 04:46, 21 July 2016 (EDT)
There was actually a counter-proposal to merge the two that was made three years after the split proposal. Baby Luigi even linked it when she reverted your edit. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC
Thanks now I get it. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 05:17, 21 July 2016 (EDT)
It says you can't do it unless it's been 4 weeks old (and it's 2 years old now), so yes, you can make another proposal to overturn it. (I also don't see a rule for a limit on how many times an argument can be overturned.) However, considering this is the third time it's happening, you may want to take the arguments from the first two proposals into consideration. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC

I Need Your Help

Can you expand Lightning Orb (object)? Can you add where this item appears? I have never played this game before. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 01:40, 22 July 2016 (EDT)

Since you clearly know about it, a lot better than I, add it to the article. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 04:39, 22 July 2016 (EDT)

Ask MarioJC

I wanted to put the rest of the Koopalings names in the "others" section", just in case if any of their names are mentioned. MarioJC said I could. Ask him/her! He'll/she'll vouch for me!--LTIan (talk) 09:41, 24 July 2016 (EDT)
We don't put it in unless it's confirmed by Nintendo or Intelligent Systems, there is nothing suggesting that they will appear (yet) but they are more than likely to appear, Nintendo hasn't completely confirmed it and since we're talking about an upcoming game it needs to be sourced as said on the template at the top of the page "edits that don't follow this standard will be reverted without notice. It is almost false information so let's refrain form it and Mario jc only said you can put it if its confirmed and if you do put it down it needs to be sourced so we have proof it's true thanks for your cooperation. I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!

You might as well put a block on me until the game's official Release when everything is covered in the game!

The truth is: I am SICK and TIRED of having to edit sections of articles while having putting in sources to proof-prove it!

Didn't you see my user page? I only put down 4 words to describe this wiki.

If you don't think the enemies from the Enemy Cards are going to appear in this game, then block me until the game's release date! That way, everything will be revealed and you won't have to worry about me editing that Paper Mario: Color Splash article ever again!

OK?!--LTIan (talk) 23:09, 1 August 2016 (EDT)

Vandals

If no sysop is around to put an end to a vandal, just keep monitoring their activity and let the vandalism stay. They vandalize to look for a reaction or attention, just like a troll. When you notice the vandal not doing anything, then revert their edits. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 19:56, 6 August 2016 (EDT)

Image Replaced

When your block is up, File:ToadbertBIS.jpg was replaced by A gossip-loving Toad (talk) with File:ToadbertBIS.png. It is used on your user page. Also, I tried to negotiate with YoshiKong (talk) to nullify your ban because you were trying to avoid it. Sorry. Couldn't get him and the other sysops to agree with me. You can look on YoshiKong's talk page. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 17:00, 16 August 2016 (EDT)

RE: Hi Luigi86101

Sure here's my userbox:
Luigi's idle animation (seen mostly in status screens) from Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, but also used in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team.

Thanks, I understand completely.

P.S. Mario and Luigi series are the best + Bowser's Inside Story FTW

Re: Sorry

Thank you for your apology. And don't worry; you are a good user. Anybody who edits with nothing but good intentions is a good user. The issue was, that two rules on the warning policy were broken while you were editing, regardless of any good intentions. We are very serious, but fair when it comes to enforcing the rules established here. And no one gets favored: these rules apply to everyone. Each one of your past warnings provided you with a link to the warning policy, so there was many chances for you to read and understand the rules which are to be followed.

But again, don't worry. As I said, it's now in the past. I'm trusting you to show us that you have changed. I know you'll make a good user when you get a firmer grasp here, and begin to build yourself a great name in this community. Oh, and welcome back.
