The objective in this game is just to win in the races, as with most racing games. You can choose from either a single race, which as the name implies will let you play one race, or the grand prix, which is four races in one.  There is also multiplayer using the GBA's linkup feature, and a Time Trial mode to see how fast you can get on a course. This is also the first Mario Kart game to have a "Free Run" mode.

Mario Kart: Super Circuit is the third in the Mario Kart series for the Game Boy Advance. The game is known under the name Mario Kart Advance in Japan. It combines elements from the previous Mario Kart games and even brought back all the courses from Super Mario Kart.

Gameplay

The objective in this game is just to win in the races, as with most racing games. Each race has 8 contestants, all trying to win. The player can pick up Item Boxes which contain items. Using these items can be very helpful, but computer controlled characters can also use items. This game had 5 cups with each 4 new race courses. These cups are the Mushroom Cup, the Flower Cup, the all new Lighting Cup, the Star Cup and the Special Cup. If the player collects hundred coins in a certain cup, he/she can unlock on of the 5 Extra cups. These cups contain all courses from Super Mario Kart. This game has the highest amount of racecourses of all Mario Karts.

Characters

Courses

The game featured twenty new courses, and brought back the original twenty courses of Super Mario Kart (But due to the Grand Prix Format, they were 4 Grand Prix, instead of 5). Peach Circuit, Bowser Castle 2, Luigi Circuit and Sky Garden later reappeared in Mario Kart DS, along with the Super Mario Kart courses Mario Circuit 1, Donut Plains 1, Koopa Beach 2 and Choco Island 2. In Mario Kart Wii, Shy Guy Beach, Bowser Castle 3, Ghost Valley 2 and Mario Circuit 3 returned.
