Flying Shy Guys, not to be confused with Fly Guys or Sky Guys, first appeared in Yoshi's Story. They were different from Fly Guys (which also appeared in the game) due to the fact that they flew via little helicopters on their backs. The Flying Shy Guy would fly around dangling fruit just out of Yoshi's reach, but could be defeated like any other Shy Guy. An exception was the elite Black Shy Guy, which could not be hurt.

They also appeared in the Yoshi's Story stage, which was in Super Smash Bros. Melee, and the Yoshi's Island stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. They carried food, which they would drop if defeated.
