Synchronised Swimming (Team) is an Aquatics Event that appears in the Nintendo 3DS version of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The aim of this event is to perform moves in the water in time with the music to score more points than the other teams. The starting record for this event is 99.5pt(s), though the event does not appear at any point in the story mode.

Gameplay

In this event, the player must pick one character from the Girls group to control and will be teamed up with the other three in the group, competing against teams of four green, yellow, and blue Shy Guys. In the event, an arrow is displayed within a circle on the screen, with a larger circle around the outside that gradually closes in on the smaller one. When the two circles overlap, the player must move their system in the direction indicated. The score that the player earns is largely based on their timing of moving the system, with the different ratings giving different scores. If the player fails to perform the move or performs it with poor timing, they will be given a bad rating, followed by good for better timing and great for almost perfect timing. The player will also be told whether they moved their system too early or too late. If the player performs a move with perfect timing, their character will gain a brief rainbow effect, the crowd will also cheer, and they will have the highest number of points added to their score.
