Coal is a key item in Mario Party Advance. At the Train Station, Shy Guy asks the player to retrieve some coal for him, as the trains have run out. He says that they can be bought in the town, but that they cannot be found at Junk. This refers to the Vending Machines; once there, they can be easily bought and returned. After Shy Guy receives the coal, he thankfully gives the player the Cake Maker Gaddget. If the Vending Machines are visited when the quest is not active, the player remarks that they do not need coal and immediately leave.
