== Mario Party 8 forms names ==
Sorry, I'm a little late. I noticed the conjectural notes you added to the names I proposed for the Mario Party 8 forms. To be honest with you, I kind of agree. Would just calling them by their candy names remove the "conjectural" note (ex: '''Bitsize Mario''' -> '''Bitsize''' ; '''Weeglee Mario''' -> '''Weeglee''';...) or not?
I suppose an alternative would be to use the adjectives on page 13 of the Mario Party 8 manual. https://www.nintendo.com/consumer/gameslist/manuals/Wii_Mario_Party_8.pdf (I've '''bolded''' words that might be interesting to use for potential names) For example:
Green Candies: | |||
*Springo Candy: the manual only say: "Turns your legs into springs [...]" without talking about the form as a whole. ;
*Cashzap Candy: not much to work with: "Releases lightnings that reduces your opponent's or other team's coins by half" ;
*Vampire Candy: "Turns you into a '''vampire bat''' [...]".
Yellow Candies: | |||
*Bitsize Candy: "Turns you into a '''pixellated''' character [...]" ;
*Bloway Candy: "Turns you into a '''tornado''' [...]" ;
*Bowlo Candy: "Turns you into a '''ball''' [...]" (NB: should be called Ball (Mario Party 8) because Mario Pinball Land already has a form called "Ball" in the template);
*Weeglee Candy: again, not much to work with: "Turns you into three tiny versions of your character that collectively steal one Candy from opponent you pass.
Blue Candies: | |||
*Thwomp Candy: "Transform into a '''Thwomp''' [...]" ;
*Bullet Candy: "Transfrom into a '''Bullet Bill''' [...]" ;
*Bowser Candy: "Transform into '''Bowser''' [...]" ;
*Duelo Candy: not much to work with: "Burn with the passion for the duel! You will stop and duel the first opponent you encounter. If you win, you can steal coins or Stars with a spin of the wheel.".
I also checked the in-game descriptions of each candy (nothing interesting that could be used in my opinion). I'm not competent enough to dig into the game files and see if the models/effects/sprites related to these forms have internal names distinct from the untransformed versions of each character. I also don't understand Japanese. --[[User:Conradd|Conradd]] ([[User talk:Conradd|talk]]) 19:57, October 31, 2023 (EDT) |

On Nintendo's terrible archival policy (or rather lack thereof)
Good evening, thought I'd ask for your opinion on this. Nintendo does not keep archives of their online content, very often removes even news articles (example: [1]). The only possible conclusion I could draw from it is these articles need to be covered on this wiki, at least the ones Nintendo already removed. They unfortunately can be rather lengthy. What do you think would be an appropriate way to cover them? Axis (talk) 11:06, July 13, 2023 (EDT)
- My issue with your solution is that no internet archive can be fully trusted. Nintendo can do the classic Nintendo moment and request archive.org to exclude all *.nintendo.com URLs from the archives, as they've already done with NoE. archive.org could shut down, other archive websites can also shut down. The cost of running archive.org is beyond my imagination. I'll try to cover the articles anyway in a sandbox to see if it'll cause problems. The articles aren't typically bigger than the ones already covered on Wario's Warehouse page. Axis (talk) 11:45, July 14, 2023 (EDT)
- The thing is that these Play Nintendo articles are more than likely copyrighted, and so I don't think there is a whole lot you can do to document them: since the very purpose they're offering this content is for others to peruse it, copy-pasting or taking screenshots of it wholesale is technically not protected by US Fair Use law as it's not transformative and it could theoretically steal traffic from the original source. At least with Play Nintendo quizzes and other activities documented here, they have some degree of interactivity on Nintendo's site that this wiki doesn't offer. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 12:09, July 14, 2023 (EDT)
EDIT: We should also reconsider hosting Wario's Warehouse material (assuming it's 100% real), considering Nintendo has gone apeshit in the past {gamerant.com) over fans publicly releasing material that isn't even sold any more. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 12:23, July 14, 2023 (EDT)- They don't seem to care much about something that was meant to be released to the public for free. I don't remember any precedent like this. This is also part of the reason why I suggest doing it for the articles Nintendo already removed, and not those they have available as of now. Renaming SuperBowser64
Hello, I was wondering if the user SuperBowser64's username could be changed so I could take up their username. They haven't been active for over 11 years and only ever made 3 edits, all of them being reverted shortly after. I use SuperBowser64 as my username on both ZeldaWiki and Nookipedia, and had to use MegaBowser64 here as a compromise. I never considered the holder of this username though, and after viewing their contributions, I don't think it would be unreasonable if their username could be changed to something similar so I could use it to keep the same username across NIWA wikis. Thank you, BOWSER... (talk) 20:31, July 16, 2023 (EDT)
The Super Mario Bros. Movie Soundtrack
I think you should consider taking another look at including the "Title Theme" from New Super Mario Bros. Wii as a reference in The Super Mario Bros. Movie (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) for "Welcome to the Mushroom Kingdom" from 1:23 to 1:24. Yes, the reference is only three notes, but in the original NSMBW theme, those notes are very distinct and an integral motif throughout (it can first be heard at 0:03 in the original theme for reference). Further, those notes in "Welcome to the Mushroom Kingdom" are in the same key as the NSMBW original, and the Paah and P-Switch theme from the New Super Mario Bros. series can be heard just a few seconds later, which I think further points towards the notes being a reference to NSMBW ToxicOJ (talk) 01:01, July 19, 2023 (EDT)

Mario Party 8
Apparently, MC Ballyhoo says these quotes: "You're no sucker! Smart players don't rely on luck! They change their fate with Candy! Eat Candy before you hit your Dice Block to trigger one of many effects!" and "You'll also get Candy by finding it around the board. You never know what you'll get, but it's free!" Could you please verify if these quotes are correct and if any of the words are colored differently? Dwhitney (talk) 11:14, July 23, 2023 (EDT)

Duplicate images
Hello sorry to bother you. I'm writing for help to fix a mistake I accidentally caused. I uploaded a render from the Japanese Mario Wonder website (as seen here) but for some reason the bot didn't detect this as a duplicate of this render that I didn't realise had already been upload yesterday (as seen here). I think the reason why mine wasn't detected was because my upload was a slightly bigger aspect ratio compared to older one. I'm not sure how to fix it so I was hoping you could help me out here. Thank you in advance. Captain Galaxy (talk) 11:40, September 1, 2023 (EDT)

Using the {{media link}} template on file pages
I noticed you have used this template on the file pages of a few uploads, such as File:Nintendo Live 2023 My Nintendo wallpaper desktop.jpg. I personally approve of this, as I believe it's beneficial to be able to identify an image's uses anywhere on the wiki, but I'd like to bring your attention to a rather peculiar statement on the template's page that reads: "Please note that this template should be used in main articles only." I can't trace it back to any consensus, be it an standard discussion or proposal, so I questioned its helpfulness on the template's talk page. I was wondering what your views on it are. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 18:55, September 4, 2023 (EDT)

Vivian Spanish name meaning
Hey! I can't edit Vivian's page, as it seems it's protected. I want to make a change in the section about her name in other languages. The Spanish name comes from the Spanish version of the name Vivian, but at the same time it comes from the Spanish trans actress Bibiana Fernández (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bibiana_Fern%C3%A1ndez). The source is this tweet made by one of the Spanish translators for the Gamecube, where he confirms it (https://twitter.com/polroc/status/1702660171737059808). Anniversary 2023 Tour included Los Angeles Laps 2 instead of 3
Is it official that the second route of the Los Angeles Laps is included instead of the third one since it referenced the third Los Angeles Tour in the 2022 Tour? Pierce Ng (talk)
The 2023 Anniversary Tour should feature only 3 routes, but LA Laps give the 2nd one than the 3rd route; additionally, New York and Tokyo did not include 4th routes since they are conclusions, but rather 3rd routes.
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pierce Ng (talk).
- I think what Pierce Ng is trying to say is that Los Angeles Laps 2 is the de facto "third variant" of Los Angeles Laps since it was added to the game after Los Angeles Laps 3, so it's still a part of the 2023 anniversary tour's trend of featuring "third variant" courses. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 07:46, September 20, 2023 (EDT)
Mario Kart Tour's regarding "false items"
At first I see Builder Toad receiving Bob-omb Cannons and Explorer Toadette receiving Double Bob-ombs, which makes me a bit suspicious But when I see Pengui Yellow Toad receiving Dash Rings instead of ice Flowers, I get agitated because it does not fit Penguin's powerups, like Penguin Mario and Toadette. This also happens to Kamek when he has Cioin Box instead of Ice Flowers since he has magic, and it has sparkle trails, not to spew coins, contradicting Mario platforming games. Golfer Luigi should have used Ice Flowers like he did in Mario Golf Super Rush, and Wintertime Larry should have used Ice Flowers because his clothes were made of snowflakes. For Green Birdo, while it makes sense to have Fire Flowers just like she did in Super Mario Bros 2, it would make a bit of sense to receive Green Shells as her special item. The worst offender will be Golden Mario with Fire Flowers since it is considered a false item and it would make sense to receive a Coin Box. Coin Box makes him OP, so it would make better sense to receive Lucky 7 instead. Pierce Ng (talk)

SMB Ground Theme SSB4 section
I think the SSB4 section on the Super Mario Bros. Ground Theme page should be split back into separate for 3DS and for Wii U sections. Besides that for 3DS was released earlier, there being so many different arrangements between the two versions means that having a combined section for both games makes it extremely cluttered and confusing to read, especially since so many distinctions have to be made about version exclusivity, which stages each arrangements plays on, etc. I agree that I initially had the two sections written with some repetitive information (i.e. mentioning "Club Nintendo soundtrack" multiple times), but I think it would be better to just remove some of the repetitive information while leaving it as separate sections. Do you think i'm out-of-touch for not actually hating the game that much, thinking it "wasn't that bad"? Did my edit summary come off as abrasive (the "yeah, and")? Disclaimer Concerning Deleted Image
I reuploaded the combined Daisy alts art for use in her alternate outfit section the way Wario's has been set-up to describe his Smash alternate colors. Sorry I was in the middle of editing the text for the section in mind when you deleted it while it was without its intended use. Hope this explains things, thanks. TimonLeslieBerkowitz (talk) 23:02, October 14, 2023 (EDT)
- Okay, I'm pretty confused. Wario's page is a featured article, so you'd think it'd be a perfect example of how to go about editing Daisy's, which isn't. You reverted what I thought was perfectly in line with the same section on Wario's page because it's too along the lines of something called fan worship? Why is it good in the case of Wario's page but bad in the case of Daisy's? TimonLeslieBerkowitz (talk) 23:07, October 14, 2023 (EDT)
- It doesn't add up to me that the wiki is actively displaying Wario's page as what the wiki strives for to have me base my editing on it and be told I'm doing something wrong. I think I understand, though, and I am actively going to make a much humbler edit. I still planned on having a display of the alternates and their descriptions like on Wario's page, if that's okay? Yes, I emailed the panini company behind the release of the recent trading cards asking about the updated art. It looks like they were already taken down or something and I don't want to just have them deleted again. TimonLeslieBerkowitz (talk) 22:24, October 17, 2023 (EDT)
- I'm waiting for an official response for proper confirmation. I'm contacting Nintendo directly, as well. I'll let you know when that happens before reuploading. I see they're not the exact same ones from panini now, just that they match some of the other changes made to such art like her skin-tone from Wonder, too. Mario Party 8 forms names
Sorry, I'm a little late. I noticed the conjectural notes you added to the names I proposed for the Mario Party 8 forms. To be honest with you, I kind of agree. Yellow Candies:

- Bowlo Candy: "Turns you into a ball [...]" (NB: should be called Ball (Mario Party 8) because Mario Pinball Land already has a form called "Ball" in the template);
- Weeglee Candy: again, not much to work with: "Turns you into three tiny versions of your character that collectively steal one Candy from opponent you pass.

- Bowser Candy: "Transform into Bowser [...]" ;
- Duelo Candy: not much to work with: "Burn with the passion for the duel! You will stop and duel the first opponent you encounter. If you win, you can steal coins or Stars with a spin of the wheel.".
I also checked the in-game descriptions of each candy (nothing interesting that could be used in my opinion).
