Hey guys, I'm pretty new here, but I'd like to add the Power Moon names into the respective pages since I know a good source to find them all. Do you guys know how to edit the pages themselves?

I'm pretty sure the cat statue is an Olmec-style Jaguar. The level is a new world desert, so I think it's more likely it's based off of American culture.

The "Purple Circular Collectibles" are clearly nuts.

As in nuts and bolts.

Nuts.

I think the supporting character that appears to be a lion is in fact a Gao from Super Mario Land.

Also, there are some misplaced modifyers:

  • Hammer Bros wearing chef hats that throw frying pans
  • Small tanks wearing top hats that spit bullets

It should say "Hammer Bros that wear chef hats and throw frying pans" and "Small tanks that wear top hats and spit bullets". --166.137.14.51 23:04, 16 January 2017 (EST)

Globe Oddities

The planet on the box art is clearly Earth, but the globe seen in the trailer has different continents. Anyone know what it could mean?

EDIT: the box art was a parody. Nevermind, then.--The signature for the user SuperML. 20:46, 13 January 2017 (EST)

An action-adventure game?

The Super Mario platform games have never belonged to the action-adventure genre in the past, the are solely for the platform genre. Is there an official confirmation from Nintendo this game is actually categorized as an action-adventure game? I remember Nintendo saying it is an open world game and obviously still belongs to the platform genre but nothing about action-aventure. This ain't a Zelda game.

Forest/Lake/Metallic Structures location

The article says there are these three locations:

  • A forest
    • A waterfall and stream
  • An area with a lake and metallic structures
    • A circular area with flowers where one of the rabbit characters is fought
  • A reddish metallic tower

If you watch the trailer closely, however, you'll notice they're all the same level. --166.137.102.80 01:32, 15 January 2017 (EST)

How can you tell that their all in the same level. We need details and sources because this is a new game and people could easily mislead us since we can't play the game ourselves. I'm not accusing you of that, but we need more than "watch closely"

From what I can tell, there appears to be two forests. One dark and another light. This could be just the time of day though. But then again it could not be. It is up to the reader whether or not it is true. Until the final game is released, there is no way to tell whether they are truly different or not. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 18:45, 19 January 2017 (EST)
Nintendo mentioned "the forest" but not "the forests". At the beginning of the trailer, you can see a sign that has that rusty tower (aka "reddish metallic tower" and "metallic structures" as they're all rusty) and the watercan robot (it also says "Kogwald"). Each of those three supposed levels have the same type of grass and the same type of trees. The "area with a lake and metallic structures" has a stream that is the same width as the forest with "a waterfall and stream". It would make sense if following the waterfall and stream lead you to the lake. The scene with the upside down flower pot enemies makes this very apparent: you have the trees from the waterfall/stream forest and a reddish metallic tower which is the same type as the metallic structures at the lake. Finally, New Donk City and the Mexican town/desert having different times of day shows that it's the same forest whether it's day or night.--166.170.0.53 23:24, 20 January 2017 (EST)
Sorry that I reply only now, effectively, the trailer at the beginning introduces the levels that are then presented throughout the trailer. Unfortunately, the watering robots are not seen in the lake with the metallic structures, so it can be guessed that they are the same location since they are both in a forest, but we cannot be sure. I can only confirm that the metallic tower is found in the lake zone, as the glassy wall can be seen from the lake zone.--Mister Wu (talk) 21:56, 26 January 2017 (EST)

Gallery Page for SMO

It looks we're getting a lot of Screencaps from this game. Do you think we can have a gallery page for the article now? --LTIan (talk) 18:14, 1 February 2017 (EST)

I'm actually uploading the screenshots from the game's trailer Nintendo published on Twitter. I managed to obtain it and so I can do frame-by-frame advancements, save the indiviual frames as PNG files and then upload them here. I don't know if you would like me to upload more frames of that video. If you do, we can consider making a gallery page right now, the game will have its gallery page anyway.--Mister Wu (talk) 18:23, 1 February 2017 (EST)

Stuff to add

Theres a new area in the game: Look at the cheep cheep scene in the trailer. Thats a new water area. Also, the Sand Kingdom is called Tostareena. Dont forget how when you collect a moon, it just jumps to the next mission, theres no mission select, although moons can be collected out of order. Dont forget about that dark village seen in the trailer, too. Also, ya know how they said stickers can be bought? Well check this out: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sSVcuI0WXq0 Does this mean Peachs Castle will be a level?

Topper

In the latest E3 presentation, during the fight with Harriet at the end of the SMO presentation, the hosts talk about their favorite Brudals. One of them mentions a Brudal by name, Topper, the short one with the green suit. Should Topper be added to the page? Or should we wait for more than a mention?

enemy list errors

The "map" poster we use for a source of the Kingdom names and their main areas also give us many enemy names, such as "Goomba", "Bullet Bill", etc. If this is as reliable as we believe it to be, then we should change the source for "Frog" being an enemy to this poster, as the trailer it is currently sourced to has no implication that the frog is an enemy, whilst the poster lists it as one. We should also remove the T-Rex [as it is labelled on the poster] from supporting characters and to the enemy list, as the poster lists it as another enemy. Maybe we should also list the enemy names on the poster as well, which as sort of been done, due to the inclusion of Fire Bros and Chargin' Chucks on the enemy list. So, quite a bit of editing to do! 86.161.221.118 11:20, 15 June 2017 (EDT)

I'm inclined to agree with you. I also believe we should combine the "Supporting Cast" and "Non-Playable Characters" sections together, like on the Super Mario 3D World page. NPCs and Supporting Cast seem to be one-and-the-same to me. What are your thoughts on that? Nintendo101 (talk) 14:50, 15 June 2017 (EDT)

I don't know how to edit on here, but for the foreign names section, there needs to be an apostrophe in "Maliou" so it becomes "Mali'ou" because of syllable boundary technicalities in pinyin. I omitted the tonal markings for convenience.

Kingdom Names

Sand Kingdom before Metro Kingdom?

One thing I've discovered while searching for footage is about the Slots minigame. It appears that the Slots will appear in every Kingdom. Or at least they appear in both Metro and Sand Kingdoms.

The thing, in Sand Kingdom, the minigame has 3 wheels,[1] while in Metro Kingdom the minigame has 4 wheels.[2] So if the Slots minigame is harder in New Donk City than it is in Tostarena, could this be because Sand Kingdom will actually come before Metro Kingdom?

I know it seems weird, considering in general New Donk City seems to be more an easier tutorial stage, but that's one point for that theory.

What we know about the Odyssey Ship

If anybody wants to add information about the Odyssey ship to the article, I will list some of the things we know about the ship.

These facts come from the official Russian twitter on Super Mario Odyssey, but I'm pretty sure all these facts are on the Japanese page as well.

  • Mario can decorate the Odyssey using things he purchases from Crazy Cap store.[3]
  • The Odyssey's door doesn't have a door handle. Mario must either throw Cappy at the door to open it, or enter via an exaust pipe.[4]
  • The bright lights of the Odyssey allow flying even in the darkest nights.[5]
  • The mysteryous Mast of the Odyssey grows bigger with Power Moons, allowing Mario to travel further.[6]
  • The exterior of the Odyssey is made from aluminum.[7]

  • Metro Kingdom - Городское царство.[8]
  • Sand Kingdom - Песчаное царство.
  • Luncheon Kingdom - Кулинарное царство.[9]

UI Changes

Gamescom footage has shown a few changes to the game's UI, including a monitor showing the number of Power Moons available in a Kingdom, as well as how many have been found.[1] How should this be addressed in the Kingdom table, as well as the individual Kingdom pages?

Seaside Kingdom

Is the name of the kingdom "Seaside Kindom" or "Spacide Kingdom"? In the source provided for "Spacide Kingdom", while it slightly resembles a "p", it also looks like it could be a body of water behind the "e", causing it to resemble a "p". --A sprite of a Flame Chomp from New Super Mario Bros. To me (going by this source), it looks like "Seaside Kingdom". It's a bit stylized, but it resembles the "E" above it in "Luncheon Kingdom". Hello, I'm Time Turner. 22:08, 23 August 2017 (EDT)
It's probably "Seaside". "Spaside" isn't totally implausible, but it seems like a rather forced play on words and would be out of place in a list of otherwise straightforward kingdom names (Metro Kingdom, Sand Kingdom, Wooded Kindgom, etc).
Dark BonesSig.png 22:13, 23 August 2017 (EDT)
Linking to this discussion: it does look like it says "Seaside" in the video I mentioned (the same one Time Turner linked), and does seem to make the most sense given everything that's been said so far, so I'm leaning towards that. Pretty sure that's an "E" and the smudge below it is an island. Looks very similar to the "E" in the same word. Also, if you take a look at where this screencap is on the World Atlas image, you can see an island directly under where the "E" would be placed. Mushroom Kingdom Wedding Item?

In the "Kingdoms" section, is it safe to assume that Peach is the Wedding Item? I know that Peach isn't exactly an "Item", but Bowser's going to each kingdom to get stuff for his wedding, and he also kidnapped Peach from the Mushroom Kingdom. Enemy Names

This is technically speculation, but I think I can back this up. The names on the map showed prominent enemy names? Well they match up logically with enemies we've seen by now.
Burrbo: The Hedgehog-looking enemy. It's covered in burrs, and has a similar body structure and mouth to a Kuribo. Furthermore, the locations match up.
Glydon: The Saurian glider. It glides, and is based off of a Pterodon. The only thing that doesn't match is the location, but it could very well be multi-localled, as many enemies seem to be.
Gushen: The purple octopuses, which seem to be the most prominent enemy in the Seaside Kingdom, given how often they appeared, and appear to have a boss version atop a stack. Furthermore, their attack pattern (and Mario's gained ability) is to gush water from them to move at high speeds through various "terrains".
Just wanted to throw this out here. Should the article be changed, or is it to speculative? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:47, 14 September 2017 (EDT)

In my opinion you can add the names, but as Unknown until we receive the confirmation of their actual role in the game.--Mister Wu (talk) 19:56, 14 September 2017 (EDT)
The names are already in the section, just separate from descriptions that seem to match. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:15, 14 September 2017 (EDT)
My bad, I was indeed looking at the Unknown section because I expected to find them there. These kinds of interesting observations are usually added on the page of the enemies, to point out the likely reason why a name was chosen, so you can add them there when said pages will exist. For the moment I think you should just be prepared to edit when the connection between enemies and names will be made, hopefully the Twitter channels will make said connection before the game's release.--Mister Wu (talk) 21:06, 14 September 2017 (EDT)

Gotcha, fixed that...--Mister Wu (talk) 23:29, 15 September 2017 (EDT)
Sorry, I didn't notice what you wrote about Glydon and pteranodons. There are many animals - mostly the extinct ones - whose names ends with -odon, said suffix means tooth in Greek and thus it is used for animals that have been named after the aspect of the teeth. Among the many examples, Pteranodon is without any doubt a notorious one, but Iguanodon is known too, and would be already nearer to what Glydon is. Since Glydon's name only has the -don suffix, and since the gliding part is already covered by the first part of the name, thus making it unnecessary to reference flying with the suffix, it is very difficult to know which was the animal they had in mind when they named the character, and I would leave that out unless it is officially confirmed. Sorry for not noticing this aspect and telling you about that the first time.--Mister Wu (talk) 20:36, 5 October 2017 (EDT)
It looks vaguely like a Pteranodon, since it has those arm flaps. So I assumed that was where it came from. Since Pteranodon's name means "Wings, no teeth," and Glydon lacks teeth as well....are we sure Glydon's a lizard, and not just a generic reptilian creature (with wings)? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:39, 5 October 2017 (EDT)
In the only video that was allowed by Nintendo to introduce him he's presented as a flying lizard, effectively those membranes are common among flying lizards, not ot say that Pteranodons have wings in plavce of proper hands, which is clearly not the case of Glydon. Of course, there is always some reinterpretation, Glydon being ultimately a fictional character, but we usually go with the most similar animal species. If Nintendo will provide us with the actual species, we'll update the page. On this aspect, the Japanese site currently doesn't state anything about his species, I think we'll have to wait for the game's guides or the in-game text.--Mister Wu (talk) 21:01, 5 October 2017 (EDT)

Mystery Kingdom with lizard-thing and poison water actually Lake Kingdom

As Gamexplain recently pointed out in their Odyssey direct footage analysis, the purple/poison water is definitely a lake and it's could be assumed that since all the other kingdom's land masses seem to be based around key elements of that kingdom the Mystery Kingdom would fit perfectly as the Lake Kingdom as the Lake Kingdom resembles a tropical tree, Whivh the Mystery Kingdom seems to be full of. 3) Mario will need to collect 12 or less Power Moons in the Seaside Kingdom

4) More costume descriptions

5) new Power Moon location in the Luncheon Kingdom

Here's a video of various leaked footage.

Well it's the official game (if anything, it looks too convincing to be fake), so yes. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 01:33, 20 September 2017 (EDT)
Power Moons are used for Odyssey. They will probably appear to Cap Kingdom when Mario will gets his ship.--Sonic98 (talk) 16:17, 21 September 2017 (EDT)

Big Chain Chomp

any proof of Big Chain Chomps? The yoshi co.

in the video I linked (pretty sure the Nintendo Direct), during one of the camera pans around Fossil Falls, I caught glimpse of a regular-sized chain chomp with a distinctly larger one next to it from over a cliff. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:06, 21 September 2017 (EDT)

Show me, and put the timestamp to where the big chain chomp appears. The yoshi co.

Isle Delfino

So, what should we do about this? Seems like Isle Delfino (or a similar area) was found on a map used in a game advertisement. Does that mean it's a kingdom in the game?

Probably best to wait until the game is released or footage is shown of the area itself. At this point, it's hard to tell what it's role is, or if it's just a cameo appearance meant for that advertisement. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 13:39, 22 September 2017 (EDT)

Forgotten Isle - another possible location

https://youtu.be/6CojEQ50Os0?t=6m42s

Considering Fossil Falls, Lake Lamode and Bubblaine are all locations in the game, I am pretty sure Forgotten Isle is also going to be a location. Maybe one of the smaller, non-kingdom locations? I guess it's not enought evidence of us to add this yet, but let's keep it in mind.

WarioLandGoldPiramid (talk)

I think that the Forgotten Isle is that unnamed tropical kingdom mentioned in the 9/13 Direct, as I highly doubt anyone would be able to reach that area due to the poison water surrounding it, hence why it's forgotten. -WaluigiSquad11
Well, if you take a look at this, it is confirmed as a sticker: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aNkqSOjYgA

I believe I have found a source to Boxer Shorts Mario.

Its from a 2016 wallpaper from Nintendo of Japan. Link - j477k2j1crlz.jpg

I think it should be added to the source of the costume.

We already uploaded the wallpaper Template:Media link, it was uploaded by Play Nintendo too. I guess this image could indeed be the source for that costume.--Mister Wu (talk) 18:23, 27 September 2017 (EDT)

Snail Creatures in Super Mario Odyssey Winkles From SuperStar Saga?

Could the snails seen in the Seaside Kingdom in Odyssey be Winkles From Mario & Luigi: SuperStar Saga, or at least a related species?

Needing amiibo to Get Outfits

The official site states that, and I quote, "All outfits can be unlocked in-game without amiibo." So the thing about Mario's wedding outfit and hat requiring the amiibo to get should probably be removed. Mega_Mario_Man

Regional Coins - only in certain kingdoms?

http://supermario.nintendo.com/explore/

"You can purchase some items with regular gold coins, but others will require special Regional Coins that are only available in certain Kingdoms."

According to this, it may be possible that some Kingdoms don't have regional coins? Unless they simply mean that each kind of regional coin is only available it it's own kingdom?

Mini Goombas, not Micro Goombas

Now, this could theoraticly be different in the English UK and English US localisations. But we have the name officialy revealed here: https://twitter.com/SuperMario_UK/status/916332271162085380

Mario's Wedding outfit

I found out that the wedding outfits do not require amiibo as the latest trailer says that they can be unlocked by progressing in the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6oPBIVjf8E --198.13.196.29 10:57, 7 October 2017 (EDT)

New Kingdom? Lake Kingdom?

What could this be? Is it something we could add to the article?

https://youtu.be/wLLszlAeXpw

WarioLandGoldPiramid (talk)

It might just be a secret area in the Cascade Kingdom or the kingdom with the Forgotten Isle, judging from the Power Moon's colour, but I think we should wait until there's more information about this place first. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 02:37, 8 October 2017 (EDT)

The game will have between 15 and 20 kingdoms, most likely

https://m.imgur.com/oq7Z8Ey

So there are 43 souvenirs to buy at the Crazy Cap store. And from what we know ao far, every Kingdom will have a CC store, and every CC store will sell 1 sticker and 2 souvenir models. Depending on if stickers count as souvenirs or not, that's around 2 or 3 souvenirs per kingdom. That should give us a rought estimate on the lenght of the game

WarioLandGoldPiramid (talk)

If stickers count as souvenirs (so 3 souvenirs per kingdom), and assuming that there is 1 souvenir that's like a 100%-completion souvenir, then there are 42 to account for. Divide by 3, and that only points towards 14 kingdoms. MarioComix (talk) 18:00, 14 October 2017 (EDT)
It's not confirmed every kingdom will have the same amount of souvenirs, this is no way can confirm and thus can't be added. --SinnohMasterGalaxy (talk) 23:16, 14 October 2017 (EDT)

Multi Moon

I found this on YouTube (hopefully it hasn't been taken down yet). [1]

It seems that Multi Moons are counted as one moon when counted as part of the Power Moon list, but functions as three moons in regards to powering up the Odyssey. How should we approach this in editing for the Kingdoms? Argonstorm32 (talk) 16:07, 21 October 2017 (EDT)

If there's more than one Multi Moon in each kingdom, perhaps we could add another column to the table for them.
Ultimate Mr. L without the emblem behind him (for my signature) Ultimate Mr. L (Talk-Contribs-Stats) 11:02, 22 October 2017 (EDT)

Surely there are more than one Multi Moons per Kingdom - that is already seen in the demo, as there are two Multi Moons in Sand Kingdom. One is obtained by defeating Harriet, the other one is frozen solid, and unobtainable in the demo, as it is impossible to thaw the kingdom. Semako (talk) 17:33, 22 October 2017 (EDT)

Leaked Kingdom List

I've seen many mentions of a Cloud Kingdom, Lost Kingdom, Ruined Kingdom and Moon Kingdom in various leak topics on forums (like GameFAQs and 4chan), and a few pictures like this one show them too:

Kingdoms List

(Note that this isn't all the kingdoms, there are apparently postgame areas too)

So, does anyone have footage from the stream confirming this? And if so, should we add them to the kingdom list on the main page?

Cheat-master30 13:49, 22 October 2017 (GMT)

Lost Kingdom is just Forgotten Isle's Kingdom name (Like Sand Kingdom is to Tostarena). We've seen footage of it. It's the jungle-like area with the sea of purple goo.

Ruined Kingdom (I believe the area was called Crumbledin, or something to that effect) is the gothic/medieval place we saw in the Nintendo World Championships.

I don't have footage, but here's some screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/xzLz4

2D Koopa Troopa Enemies

Should I add Koopa Troopas to the Enemy list? Because I saw that they were found in some 2D segments as enemies. SmashFan48 (talk) 22:23, 22 October 2017 (EDT)

Mailtoad and Yellow Toad from the Toad Brigade

I believe I have found Mailtoad and the yellow toad from The Toad Brigade running the Mushroom Kingdom's Crazy Cap shop. It's most likely them because they're in uniform and no other Toads in the game are in uniform besides the other brigade members as well as the fact that they're the only Toad Brigade members we haven't seen yet. Capture list

Should we put that up here? The game itself has one. BooDestroyer (talk) 20:30, 23 October 2017 (EDT)

I'm just going to make a note of this now, but I think that once the game is released the capture list can be fleshed out into a table, to include the target name, how it looks when Mario is controlling it, and his abilities while doing so (with controls). Editing

Hey guys, I'm pretty new here, but I'd like to add the Power Moon names into the respective pages since I know a good source to find them all. Do you guys know how to edit the pages themselves?
