Template:Articleabout Template:Kart-infobox The Shooting Star is Mario's second original kart in Mario Kart DS. It is a small kart that resembles a comet. The front is shaped like a yellow star and features a yellow zigzag behind where Mario sits. It features good speed, handling, and drift. It is also the lightest kart in the game, making it easy for it to be knocked around by heavier karts, and its selection of items is rather low. However, it features high acceleration tied with the Light Tripper. To unlock it, the player has to get a gold trophy on every cup in Nitro Grand Prix on 100cc, just like the other unlockable karts. Its speed is tied with that of the Light Dancer and the Zipper and has the same drift and handling as the Gold Mantis. To let any character use the kart the player must obtain all gold cups on 150cc Mirror mode.
