In Chapter Five: Trials in the Toy Box, a fat guy named Gourmet Guy sits in front of a pathway between two sides of the train track, and will not budge unless given one of Tayce T.'s Cakes. Upon receiving one he will run around crazily the jump out of sight, leaving behind the Cookbook. At the end of the chapter, he will tell Peach a secret about where the next star spirit is being held if she makes him a Special Strawberry Cake.

Fat Guys reappear in the Game Boy Advance game, Yoshi's Universal Gravitation where they once again appear as enemies and try to kill Yoshi.

In Yoshi's Island DS they behaved exactly like they did in the first Yoshi's Island game.
