Pauline in Donkey Kong Strikes Again!: Coloring & Activity Book

The Donkey Kong coloring and activity books are a series of books published by Modern Promotions/Publishers that feature characters from Donkey Kong, including Mario, Pauline, and Donkey Kong. The first five books in the series are titled Donkey Kong, and were published in 1982, while the next five books are titled Donkey Kong Strikes Again!, and were published from 1982 to 1983. Four of the books under each title contain coloring pages that follow a story, as well as puzzles and other activities, while one of the books under each title contains only activities. In 1983, two additional books titled Donkey Kong Junior were published, based on the game of the same name; one of these books contains a variety of activities, and the other contains only puzzles and mazes. Three small puzzle booklets were also released, which appeared in boxes of Donkey Kong Junior cereal. With the exception of these booklets, every book in the series uses the same UPC-A barcode (0-30099-99730-1), and none of the books are numbered in any way, making the chronology of the books very difficult to determine.

Following the events of the previous book, Mario and Pauline decide to celebrate their victory by running towards the Tunnel of Love. Meanwhile, Donkey Kong emerges from the water he was thrown in and charges into the Tunnel of Love after Mario and Pauline who hear him approaching. They then quietly leave the boat and swim through the channel and under Donkey Kong's boat. Donkey Kong realizes their plan and blocks the entrance they were swimming towards, so Mario and Pauline run on the ledge of the ride and disguise themselves as cupids in one scene of the ride. Pauline shoots an arrow on Donkey Kong and Mario and Pauline rush through the emergency exit. They then run into The Shrink Machine; an attraction Mario's been building. While chasing them down, Donkey Kong runs into the shrink machine which turns it on and shrinks him, Mario and Pauline. Donkey Kong grabs Pauline and carries her up a tower of beams which resembles 100m. The book ends with a young boy putting a coin into a Donkey Kong arcade cabinet.
