Troopeas are the Beanbean Kingdom counterpart to Koopa Troopa in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Their name is a portmanteau of "Troopa" and "pea", the latter of which is a legume like a bean. Troopeas have dark blue shells and sprouts sticking out of their heads, and are found mainly in the south-eastern area outside Beanbean Castle Town, near Woohoo Hooniversity. Troopeas are rather basic enemies, with their only method of attack being to ram either Mario or Luigi, although they can create small water droplets that restore HP to one of their allies or themselves. If one of the Bros. jumps on a Troopea's shell while countering its ramming attack, their shell can be used against other enemies just like the Green Shell Bros. Item/Special Attack in later games. Troopeas are extremely resistant all forms of attacks except jumping. Parabeanies sometimes appear with Troopeas in battle.
Winged variants of Troopeas called Paratroopeas are also found outside Beanbean Castle Town, though in different areas. Later, in Gwarhar Lagoon, stronger versions of the Troopea called Elite Troopeas appears, which have red shells in contrast to the Troopea's blue ones.
In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, they appear as bipedal instead of quadrupedal.
